SUKHUMVIT SOI 11 Should you choose Holiday Inn Express Hotel?

  • Many people love to stay on Sukhumvit Soi 11. It's a great choice for quality nightlife, food & drink!
    But where is the hot place to stay in 2024? Last week I tried the Holiday Inn Express for the first time. And in 7 minutes I'll tell you what I found so that you can decide if it's for you!
    At under $60 it's not the most expensive. But is it the best value?

    hi great review, i stayed at the Ambassador Soi 11 Last March, Sky wing room three nights £105 (no bfast) (the Tower rooms are a bit cheaper as less spacious)which was again nice, if a touch dated, but your hotel and mine are perfectly placed , to get to Bangkok attractions, Nana plaza just a lazy 10 min walk, Nana Bts just 2 mins away, short trip on that down Sukhumvit for Terminal 21 food courts, , i had breakfast each morning at a 'pub' just around the corner from Soi 11 near the Sky train steps, cheers

      Many thanks for your comment! Sounds like you had a great time! I've reviewed 3 hotels on Soi 11 in the past few months, and honestly they've all been good, and yours sounds like it, too!
      Soi 11 is probably my favourite Soi in Bangkok. The location is just ideal, and the bars and restaurants in the soi itself are generally good quality. Thanks again!

    looks fair enough. holding staff meeting in morning means they can drag on. I held mine at 5pm knowing it would end at 5.30pm, going home time. All the info great job.

      Thanks, BB. We used to have Monday morning team meetings. Used to finish at lunchtime which meant we were always playing catch up for the rest of the week! 8am meetings should be banned, particularly in Thailand. Sabai sabai! Thanks for the positive comments!

      Yes, PFI. If you like Soi 11, and I certainly do, the location is fantastic. Plus, it's not that difficult to get to other sons along sukhumvit road!

    Nice review. But probably wouldn’t stay there unless it was just a night or two and you wanted right in the action. Sukhumvit Soi 11 is the rage right now so this good you’re reviewing this area. I prefer further down Sukhumvit past Asoke where it is quieter and the area is a bit more upscale. One thing I don’t think you ever mention is the rewards programs under some of these branded hotels. This hotel is under IHG which isn’t the best but it does come with some perks. I tend to give business to other branded hotels with good perks like free upgrades. Book the lowest cost room and try for an upgrade.

      Many thanks for your comment. I think you are right about rewards. It's worth mentioning it more. I touched on IHG rewards when I was in the Intercontinental, Pattaya. It seems a good program. I'm not very familiar with other groups, but it's something I'll look out for. Thanks for the feedback!

    Another brilliant review BC. Oppenheimer stars said that they, the producers, and director stayed at a Holiday Inn Express while filming in NM! I was a young buck of 38 first time in Bangkok I got scammed by a tuk-tuk driver and taken to the "jewelry shop". Scams aplenty. Thai "entrepreneurs" after your money. BTW, you would think many hotels would have a defibrillator and fire extinguisher in or near the rooms for safety these days. Older expats are we.. The mood /attitude has changed with Thais since the Swiss and NZ foreigners got physically violet with them. Take care mate. 👍✌🖖

      Thank a lot, Rik. We'll if a Holiday Inn I'd good enough for real film makers, it must be good enough for my TH-cam channel, surely? 😀 I can't remember the last time I saw a defibrillator displayed in a hotel. Wonder if many of them do have them? In the entertainment areas, they should be compulsory 555. I'd love to find out where the taxi guy goes for 50 baht. The tuk tuk drivers wanted 100-200 just to get to the end of the soi!

    Thanks for this review, I might try the hotel when I'm in Bangkok in May!

    Thanks for the review, IHG don’t seem to do bad hotels, Lichfield HIE is the exception. No mention of the coffee club next to the lobby? I hope you collected the IHG points?

    • @balloonchaser
      @balloonchaser  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, Russ. I think IHG is a solid brand, but it's probably difficult to make Lichfield look interesting 🤔. I'm converted to being a member, can't remember who suggested it! I did have lunch at coffee club. I forgot to mention I'm a top tier member there 😃

    Over 2K is a bit expensive but not crazy. Next time in Bangkok try the IBIS on soi 4. Not the big one, the small one after it. It's OK for the cost. Breakfast and staff are nice. Soi 11 is always going to be a bit more money. Thanks for the vlog.

    • @balloonchaser
      @balloonchaser  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks, Toby. I guess prices might drop a bit after Songkran. But 2k seems the going rate at the moment. Breakfast was pretty decent. I'll certainly bear in mind your IBIS suggestion. Thanks!

    One hour 50 baht? Sounds legit. You should do a video where you try this guys and see what happens. Sure to be interesting and get a lot of views.

      Great minds on that one, David. That's exactly what I wrote in my notebook when I got to my room! I mean, what could possibly go wrong? I might get some half price gold or a cheap suit! 😃

    Maybe a unfair comparison but this hotel doesn't seem to be twice as good as debua in pattaya

    • @balloonchaser

      It's not twice as good, you're right. Pattaya is much cheaper in general. The holiday inn Pattaya is 1200 baht today. I guess land prices are double in Central Bangkok!
