In this video, I wrap up the dual exhaust install and finally get a real test drive in. Along the way, I install a new water pump, tans filter, and better tires.
Thanks for showing how to relocate the external fuel pump. My early 85 Mustang GT CFI car had that setup and a single exhaust because the fuel pump and filter took up the spot where the passenger side muffler would go. My 86 Cougar XR7 has the same setup too. I converted the 85 GT to carb and just used the low pressure pump in the tank. I plan to keep the Cougar EFI when I swap in a v8, so I might just use your tip to relocate the pump and filter.
Now you got me wondering what I might run into with my Fairmont exhaust. Because I have the same dilusion of parts being able to bolt up. O'REILLY is my go to as well, but I'm starting to have less and less faith in them. I feel ya on how recording slows you down on progress in the garage. My 5-lug swap all of the sudden is becoming a 3-month endeavor. Boy does it sound good though!
The biggest issue was the 2 used x pipes I bought not fitting. Next time I’ll just buy the cheap Jegs H pipe with no cats. 2nd big issue was the fuel pump. If your car isn’t efi, that shouldn’t be a problem either. Last big issue was the tail pipes. After I decided to put dumps on it, I saved myself a ton of time fighting with hangers. I’m going to put dual exh on my 79 mustang. With the knowledge gained here, it should go better
Great job Jeff that exhaust work would have made most people give up, Hope you can move the car on to someone who can enjoy the car.
