    Kids need to have the confidence to expose people like Nathan. He should have definitely told his parents. You might just be saving someone else from whatever Nathan was going to do. Never be embarrassed or ashamed to call out someone you think is doing wrong. Especially when theres kids involved.

    • @bruhmoment3106
      @bruhmoment3106 2 ปีที่แล้ว +91

      Tbh nothing Nathan did was warrant to be “wrong” per say. The only legitimate thing I would say was wrong was him coming in the room and flipping over the blanket. But even then is that what really happened or did Nathan needed to check up on him not realizing that this is not the best move, also Nathan checking up on his sister at night seems normal, and him avoiding the OP that day is something I’m pretty sure any teen would do. Maybe Nathan got annoyed with the kids and try to stay away from the kids as much as he can before he had to make sure they’re ok. Idk I feel like I need more information to make any legitimate claims that this was “wrong”

    • @luciuseclipse
      @luciuseclipse 2 ปีที่แล้ว +519

      @@bruhmoment3106 If he was just checking on them why would he need to silently sneak into the room, and then remove the blanket? Most babysitters checking up on a kid would just crack the door open peek in and see that the kid is okay, then leave. Sure, there may not be solid proof he had bad intentions, but it's definitely creepy and a big red flag. Also nathan seemed interested in playing with the girl before, so why would he completely avoid her the next day? There are too many red flags for it to not be a problem. At best Nathan needed to be taught some big boundaries about babysitting.

      I get your frustration, but I totally sympathize with the kid's feelings of embarrassment and shame. Fear of retaliation is an overwhelming feeling for a child to experience, and children often times won't say anything because of that fear. Expecting a child to debrief his traumatic experience to his parents is a bit of an unfair expectation to place on an 8-year old, particularly when it's all on Nathan. If anything, I applaud the fact that the kid's first instinct was to protect his sister.

  • @josiegipson8177

    The last story struck a nerve. The actual bloody hell. It's one thing to hire a stranger to babysit for a few hours while you go to dinner but to hire a complete stranger, one who isn't even an adult, to watch your children for a few days while you go on a "couples retreat"? Your young, extremely vulnerable children? Thats some straight up child endangerment. They didn't give two shits about their kids. Seems the 8yr old little boy had more parenting capabilities than his actual parents.

    • @c-u-next-tuesday

    If your child is telling you that there is someone or something bothering them and scaring them, do NOT brush it off. While most children do have an overactive imagination they almost never lie about things that they consider harmful to them, especially with specific things like "there is something in my closet" or "someone's tapping on my window". Even if it was just their imagination you should still check so you can build that trust with them. You don't ever want your child to not trust you with things like that or they might end up like the kid in story 3.

I remember one night the MPs pulling in and we saw their son being taken away in handcuffs. Didn’t know what happened until later that he SA my friend for some time. There was a really great safety awareness ad I saw about this, don’t remember who it was by, but a woman gets home, turns her lights on starts undressing. It’s completely black outside her windows and she can’t see anything. She keeps taking clothes off thinking she’s in private, until it’s revealed she’s actually some muppet-esque creature in a human disguise, but then it cuts to outside her house and you have full view of the naked monster sat on an arm chair or something. Even though it’s got a somewhat funny punch line/tone, it was still horrifying enough to stick with me. The tag line was something like ‘just because you can’t see anyone, doesn’t mean no one can see you’, and that’s how five year old me learnt the close-your-blinds habit

    I have to give the babysitter in the first story a lot of credit for how she handled the situation. Especially for how she asked the kid why he thought there was a monster in his closet.
    Same for the babysitter in second story. For 14, very smart not to just immediately dismiss what the kid was saying. So far, if I had children, and needed a babysitter, I would gladly hire either one of those two.
    as for the dude in the last one, poor guy. People who prey on kids like that are worse than evil.

    Okay, that last story is definitely the scariest to me. As someone who had a cousin attempt something and then me not tell anyone, I understand the guilt. For years I worried that he had gone on to successfully molest someone, possibly my nephews and nieces. But I now understand that I didn't say anything because I honestly didn't understand the situation. When you're really young, you question if things were really as they seemed or if you were overreacting. I finally understood that not only did I know something was wrong and that I wasn't overreacting, but I figured out how he had been grooming me to trust him. FU Chris.

    That last story is sad. Kids feel powerless in a terrifying situation. And the solution sounds so simple…as in, tell your parents, but the fear paralyzes you, especially if kids are threatened not to tell. It’s a special kind of hell. And sometimes you don’t even know if an adult will believe you.
