The parts stores sell you a much thinner axle seal than stock so you don't have to drive it in very far past the face of the housing. But I did drive the first seal in a long ways without thinking but it has sealed so far. It runs on the collar you press onto the axle to hold the bearing so it's long enough to seal I reckon no matter where you drive it in. If you buy a collar with taper on one end , put the taper towards the seal. BTW my cousin drove in two axle seals on his Sammy on each side. Just like the Trackers if gear oil leaks into the axle bearing the bearing will fail quickly.
