You can avoid the whitening of the CA glue by using very little accelerator. If you spray a heavy volume, it over cures

Good morning! It’s a balancing act, isn’t it? Sometimes the tool marks just want to steal the spotlight! But I’m glad you liked the overall design! BTW yes, the bottom went out of round on the friction chuck. It slipped on the rubber as I didnt snip the tail stock as tight as I should have. You have a good eye ;-) Cheers

Is that wood, Acacia?
To be honest the wood came from a laminated cutting board that was surplus and I cut it up. It does look like Acacia but could be rosewood or walnut in the main part. Thanks!
