Fast ft 17 would be a nightmare, just imagine it. If a machine was maintained properly it will work for a very long time. Three weeks ago I was a passenger in a biplane which was commissioned in 1954, but the design came from 1928. It was mainly built from canvas and wood with no roof. They even told me where to step (there was a small square on the left lower wing)otherwise I would break or dent the wings. But the engine started like it's in the textbook and flew flawlessly.
Wow just wow these guys really put some care and detaile into the rebuilding and maintance of these vehicles. To have an engine that basic and old be that dependable upon start up is just awesome to see.

I have to say I am impress with how quickly it started. I didn't expect that on a 100 year old tank. Is that as fast as it goes? I liked the up close shots while it was moving, it was interesting to see how the suspension worked as it was moving. Nice video Sofi!
Stephen Krall that’s about as fast as the FT-17 nowadays would go. I’d expect it to go faster when it was in its prime but you don’t want to stress the engine of this old girl.
Sweet! Really cool to see how to start a part of history. Fantastic to see how well it's been maintained. Hopefully it'll be just as well kept for future generations as well! Thanks for the awesome video keep up the fantastic work sofi!!!!

Which is why the German anti tank rifle made some sense up until 1940ish.... even if you don’t punch through you create high velocity spall on the backside and the crew gets shrapnel flying around the inside.
That' s because it wasn't.. does it look like it was meant to take on an Abrams or a Challenger???? It was meant to stop small arms or shrapnel , not much more.. but of course the anti tank tech was also rather primitive at the time of the FT.s introduction

I find a little comedy in this one. Where you have the more modern WW2 tanks and their engines want to sputter, cough, pop flames and be all around grouchy you have this 100 year old grandad starts in a couple cranks and sounds like a modern engine sitting there idling, smooth as glass.
Hey Sofia, will you be going to Canada's Tankfest. I heard something about it being pretty good. Hope all is well. Keep up all the good work you do. TboneOathKeeper

That is like the least dramatic crank-start I have ever seen from any vehicle, ever. Usually whomever`s doing the cranking damn near busts themselves and the thing takes many cranks and displays an unsettling hunger for thumbs. Speaking of which NEVER EVER EVER put your thumbs around the crank-handle of a crank-start vehicle because that's how it eats them!
Yeah, well, unless you want to see some crushed bystanders... Once again, pityful humor by someone who I'm sure never saw war up close and personal and believes to show great wit but only demonstrates its own ignorance and intellectual laziness.
Well, as far as I know, there are no "not original" ones. Maybe some made out of original parts, but thats still an 100% legit FT-17. No history of useage tho. It is much easier to make a bad looking Panther out of T-34 from the '50s to make most ordinary people say: "WOW". Gotta know something more about it to appreciate small FT-17 1000x more than some fake tank.

Amazing how well kept the tank is. Purrs like a kitten.
A 100-year-old kitten...........
Sounds quite bad compared to other originals. I first thought it's a underpowered engine installed later
The good old girl started first pull! What a great old machine.
They may have had it running the morning of the show. Brilliant ! !
To the folks preserving history... thank you.
this engine sounds better than my car
Incredible, 100 years, the best tank of ww1 and one of the most influential designs ever, just amazing.
Keeping one of those running can't be easy. I've been around WW2 armor that's a pain in the ass! Good stuff :)
OMG!! The little tank that can !! And started right up 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing and a big hand for the people in charge of keeping them running 👏🏻👏🏻

Back then Renault built cute things, go little tank go.
In its day, a scary machine for lightly armed foes.

I really like the FT 17, first tank that actually looked like a tank. I like to see images of them in WW2 used on improvised armoured trains.
They did that ???
The Germans used captured FT-17's on rail wagons as protection for trains.
Yes. Renault is far more apealling than British Mark IV.
Renault is the grandfather of all tanks.
You know youngster, back in my day...... Said the FT against the Panther.... :P
