This is really lovely but I notice that both you and Alex refer to your shelves as "floating shelves". But floating shelves refers to shelving where you can't see any visible support, hence they are floating. They are usually secured by bolting directly into the wall behind. But when you can see the brackets that hold up the shelves, like your ones, they are just "shelves" :)

I love how simple yet elegant your home office is. My husband and I plan to create a home office coz he will be wfh soon. I too need a home office despite having a regular day job.

The shelves are too high, visually it looks a bit strange to have so much blank space between the shelves and the desk area. They should be a bit lower !
True, Carrie can barely reach the lower shelf, and has to climb on the desk to reach to top shelf. But if the items on the shelves are purely for decoration rather than regular use, I guess it doesn't matter too much.
or add a third shelf below

I love your idea for the office! What a great way to turn a small space into something large and functional for your needs! And it’s so pretty to boot! Great idea about spray painting the brackets. I’ll definitely look into that with the gold color. That’s my favorite metal accent color too! I also really liked that electrical outlet holder. I have a free floating desk, and I’ve been looking all over trying to find a good cord holder to hide them. I’ll have to look for some thing like what you bought. I’d love to know the name of it?!
