I don't think that Brazil team in 86 had the same togetherness.
I agree Brazil were awesome esp in the first 30 mins or so but England as you say also had players who produced class moments, Robson produced a Crossfield pass in the first half to Coppell for his cross to Withe that was awesome, Alvin Martin looking on his debut a good fit at the level, Wilkins serene along with McDermott and Rix, Coppell and Barnes busy and explosive down the flanks..Phil Neal naff...Shame Withe's shot did not go in but on this 1981 Euro tour England were the only team (France and West Germany were cut to pieces) who came near to forcing a draw against the great Brazilians..Shame Greenwood never utilised their potential..

My biggest regret and saddest moment as football fan was to see this Socrates' Brazil not lift the World Cup at the 82 and/or 86 editions! I still remember the Copa del Mundo in Spain, as I was then a young boy schooled in a catholic institution led by Spanish Marist brothers.
Everyone footballer, every manager should be made to watch Brazil at their best, and then made to watch them again and again until they realise that THAT is how you play football. Simple one/rwo touch football with movement and vision from another world.
I followed this match 43 years ago but I am astonished to see how those players were able to attack and defend much better than any team Brazil has put on the pitch in the past 30 years.

Com ele aberto pela direita o Brasil tinha amplitude e verticalidade, além de as linhas adversárias ficarem quase sempre baixas. Outro fato a se lamentar pra 82 foi o Telê não esperar pela recuperação do Reinaldo. Ele estava no auge e era naquele início de década um dos melhores atacantes do mundo. Onde o time melhorou foi na troca do Edevaldo pelo Leandro, que era um jogador fora de série.

@@cleightorres3841 Not a fool, just not suited to international management which is more about selection and basically a part time job, whereas club management is more about day to day involvement and motivation which is why Clough was so good at it because he was one of the best motivators of players ever. However I don't think experienced internationals would have liked being told to 'get your hair cut' or 'take your hands out of your pockets.'
