Meet the Underground Boys of Tana

A few weeks ago, I asked the boys to say their names for the camera. Today, I got them to write down their names and give their ages. In order as they present on the video, they are Rija (age 13), Andria (age 10), Jimmy (age 16), Thierry (age 10), Tojo (age 14), Njato (age 12, Francois (age 14), and Rivo (age 12).
On the same day, we got to meet two of the boys' fathers who had come specifically to meet us. All the boys are members of the same extended family. Except for Jimmy and Francois, they all go to school. Francois is clearly the musical leader of the group. As you watch the videos, you can see him taking charge as they decide who will sing which parts. Sometimes you can see him making corrections of the other boys during the performance.
My wife and I visit every Sunday morning without fail. It's our regular Sunday ritual. From the very first time we heard Jimmy singing by himself, we realized we were in the presence of greatness. Since then, we have done whatever we could to make the talent of the Underground Boys known the rest of the world. Please feel free to help by sharing these videos with your friends and family.

Please let us know as soon as possible how these boys can be helped further. There are people with way less talent taking up too much airspace. I trust that their basic needs are met! Thank you for sharing. I'd learn Malagasy just to communicate with them :) such blessings.

Love these kids! Just so you know, the reason you got a hesitant reply when you first asked the question may be because you used the formal "votre" when asking his name. For talking to children, you would use the informal "ton". So he may have been confused by the question initially! Also not sure how much French they speak or if they are giving you their real names... at the 0:50 mark one of the boys starts saying in Malagasy "his name is Christian!" (although I'm not sure who he is referring to.)

It's a bad habit that I'm trying to break without much success. Their French is not good, but it's much better than my Malagasy. Sometimes we'll have a PCV with us when we visit which helps. I also do not know who was being referred to as Christian. I got Francois to write down all the names last week, so I'm sure they are documented correctly in my description.
