Watching precision docking such as this is never boring. Might even watch a second time as I enjoyed the ambience. I'm guessing that 2 Ladies is Captain Mortlock's next draft as she looks the perfect stepup from AWOL
Try it when the wind is 45 kts a beam and a 1 kt current running the dame way... 30 year old steel boat with way worn out Detroit 16v92's, that wind and current was my only bow thruster....and most of the time my deck hands were nuts/crackheads or on work release. Try putting an old underpowered steel boat between a couple of very high dollar Aluminum crew boats in those conditions. I could teach a 10 yr old to do what you just called "precision docking". The best thing about my job was I didn't have to put up with ANY crap from my passengers. Well... I theoretically was supposed to. I didn't. Happily retired from that crap. I do miss the challenge of handling a big steel boat in very dangerous situations. But, my hair is all finally white...thanks to 20 years dodging CAT 5 canes, dealing with completely ignorant offshore "supervisors", and the USCG's complete ignorance. and inbred oilfield supervisors. Bye, have fun. I did, just the challenge, in a really tough business.
Steven , actor turned dock hand Seagal gave perfect instructions to the captain. Later that evening, whilst cooking a gourmet meal for guests he foiled a attempted hijack by highly trained and well armed foreign gangsters trying to take over the European luxury yacht market.
I'm not an expert but from about 2m15s is it normal to have lines / ropes in the water? Seems like a bad idea to have anything like that around the props (which I know are a bit forward). Also interesting to see a fender being used to protect the transom ... I don't know why it's not done every time, given the possibility of contact with the dock. They are always used on the sides, but it seems rarely if ever to protect the transom which is surely at similar risk.
He didn't "bomb" the yacht. Bombing is like flying over and dumping on you like they used to do to us in boot camp in San Diego standing in line waiting to get into the mess hall at 06:00. Seagulls and pigeons got no reason to live! Those guys on the yacht on the port side seem to not be able to get their bumpers situated. Nice docking maneuver.
I have papers as an sailor (necessary courses etc etc) and currently work in the north sea as an sailor on a Platform Supply Vessel. Is there anyway for me as an AB with papers to get work on a yacht? Do i need contacts? through agency?

Yes, look at Crew Agencies, lots of info out there if you truly want to join the Industry. & Contrary to this other unhelpful reply you received, no, people are not just 'born into' this industry, utter nonsense.
Love the music in back ground! Plus mister seagull chimin’ in! Little buggah! This was awesome! Such a sight to see. Amazes me every time. ‘Caption should be “This is how you park your multi million dollar masion on the water” Cheers Captn’!
Cool video 😎👍. I’ve literally just watched James’s video on docking the predator XPS on his channel The Virtual Yacht Broker…. Next time I’m in that area I should pop in and buy him a coffee ☕️ in appreciation of the good videos
I wonder when we will see fully automated docking systems? Where ships will have cameras/sensors all around them and an AI will then park it. Similar to what we have on autodriving cars today. It's just a matter of time really.
It's eventually possible at one future time, but it is very difficult to construct. Compared to a automated car parking system here many more parameters influences the process. Like wind, flow, fenders, bow lines and more.
@@Breenild True, but most of that information is gathered from data systems. Wind is today collected from a computer system, so that shouldn't be hard to put into an AI solution. A computer could easily, if not better, calculate for wind/flow etc. Bow lines and fenders should be easy to identify with camera/sensors. Much like how robot vacuums today can identify cables lying around on the floor, and cars can identify people and different objects. It's just a matter of input data. I'd guess a few more years and we will start seeing some automated system in place for beta testing, but will take a while to work out til it's fully developed. Autodriving cars took many years, and is still being fine tuned. :) Might even be done with a small drone flying ahead of the ship to scan the area for data collection. Who knows? Tech today has come far.
Let's be realistic, you could teach a monkey to do that in zero wind conditions and water as calm as glass with 30 mins of training, still cool to watch, and before you all start hating on me, I'm by no means saying being a yacht captain is easy. I suspect it's up there with an aircraft pilot, but I'll bet this captain has had a harder time parking his car in a supermarket car park...Seagull be like, big deal, even I could do that in those conditions😁
30 minutes? Not hating on you, but if you haven't docked anything bigger than a canoe, you should just watch the videos and keep your fingers off the keyboard.
@@HAL_NINER_TRIPLE_ZERO Well, I have docked something bigger than a canoe, so can I now watch the video and make a comment that helps the channel, please, Dad?
Seagall did a great job calling out distance and speed. He got a little on edge when there were no ropes ready.
👍🏼😂😂😂
😂
Best comment!!!!

@@nixer8984 And that kids is what we call gatekeeping.
Great docking. Great camera. Great angle. Great lighting. Mr Gull for an Oscar!!!! When he flew out to sea.....🙌🏻😻
You can tell the Captain of that yacht knows the vessel. They slid it into the space like it was on rails.
But this was an easy docking, because the space was very huge compared to some other dockings I already saw here on this channel.
But that’s their job it would be more impressive if he was cooking an omelette at the same time
How many weeks left on awol?
Video bombed by a loud mouthed seagull, lol. Nice little clip Captain, that guy was quick!
Which guy?
@@williamferlazzo5778 I was in fact referring to the Captain. This was a brisk docking maneuver with a fairly sharp entry.
Seagull giving the Captain instructions
He was telling him the distance from the dock haha

Nicely done. At first I thought he was going to get the whole space to himself, but at the end you could get another in next to it.
Port Master says four more super yachts can fit in there. Maybe five.
Thank you! Watching from Los Angeles, CA Steve Miller.

Maybe that seagull was screaming "All Hands On Deck!"
Who was your friend with the dockside commentary?
Are there any rules on partying and load music when docked at port.
Love the yacht rock in the background! Shoutout to the great Al Jarreau :)
Saw you on Business Insider. Your famous now!!
So what’s the next boat after awol?
3300 per night to dock in capri still?
There's something beautiful about the sound those thrusters makes underwater

Cool! Nice view.... Sunset docking.... Love it!
Ornithologist filming 😂 Nice and calm docking maneuver. Plenty of space, no wind, everything perfect 👌
Did I see side thrusters being used? Does the Captain lose points for that?
Is this the new boat. ?
If you ask me he risked his ass with the port line going in the water that close 😂😂
Seagull had it all under control

those shiny yachts :D and this bacround dock music
New boat Capt. ?
Wondering why the stern line didn't go on the Bollard ?!
directly back then spring on Bollard ( just a guess) then not 3 lines on Bollard if another vessel arrives
Nice video sir... Waiting for your vlog .. Lots of love from India🇮🇳

AWOL is docked one boat starboard, but it shows under way using engines, lol.
Nice to see AWOL sitting one yacht apart on his right.
have to watch again... Thanks !!!
On his what? Sorry, don't know what "right" means. How dare you use those terms in this channel?

I was imagining a Giant Pterodactyl with diarrhea.
Amazing precision. Great video! (Swan included!)
I don't like the stern passarel. Do you receive your guest through it?
Regards!
Stern-to mooring as is common in the Med means ALL access is via the stern passarel.
It's the modern version of the gang-plank.
Yes. But most guest movements on & off the vessel are generally via T/T 2Ladies, & therefore board via fold-down swim platform/garage door
Nice work captain of 2 Ladies. 👍
I wish I could park my car that well. Fantastic.
And Marine Traffic shows AWOL and 2Ladies are still in Capri Harbour
Pletter pro, I liked - from an artistic point - the seagull, just perfekt composition

Boat looks lovely at night 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Its a good video.. thanks for sharing... lets admit though; its easy to look good when you have thrusters on every corner.
You can usually hear the thrusters and see the water disturbance from their use, I didn't note either happening.
