@@michaelgarlickmovies I wondered the same, but it's not the real Super Yacht Captain. Notice the square after the name.. and if you look at the fakes channel, there are no videos and only 4 subscribers.
He's just trying to make people think he's SYC to get them to cluck on the link.
He's more like the stuff they have drained from AWOLs black tanks than a Captain. I'm sure SYC would even leave him in charge of an inflatable, never mind a beautiful yacht.

really nice of the captain of that Starboard vessel to release and relax the bow starboard line just to allow you out without risk of getting caught up in it. it was still attached but straight up and down until you were out of the berth.. love your content mate and hope you and giv have a good winter and really excited to hear about the new vessel you will be operating on. ...for many reasons this channel is much more captivating, interesting, and educational than others of like kind... I was going to write that I love these docking or departure vids best, but by the time I started clicking it occurred to me I like them all best... Anyway, Lizzy and AWOL are two of THE MOST beautiful and practically designed boats that I've seen over these last three years... there's so many comments about you moving up to a bigger boat, and I'm very happy for you and Giv if that's the case, but while it may be bigger idk about better... it'll just be different and with whole new incomparable stories... my h/t to you Captain for establishing a great career and excellent YT channel!!

There is always time for doing things the right way. There is no time for rushing. If your boat has good bite, rudders are not needed at slow speed. A good feel of the levers, a good view all around and calm nerves are all you need. I wish I had a bow thruster. What an amazing tool. You can even get a bit of control with only one engine. It makes it much tougher and there better not be much wind or current. Fantastic video and expert seamanship!!

In a way, it can be easier to handle a big yacht than a small pleasure boat. No thrusters, no sky hooks, etc. My boat is on a tidal creek where I live and sometimes when there is a breeze and/or running tide, docking can be a challenge. Those times I would kill for some of those gadgets.

Any time we have guests aboard I *always* remind them to not attempt to use their hands/arms/whatever is during any kind of docking or rafting. "You're meat, and this boat is hundreds of times heavier than you are. It WILL injure you if you get in-between it and other objects."

  • @labatt
    @labatt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Nice maneuver! I like your mention of using the fenders. A lot of people don't realize that, in addition to possibly getting injured, pushing off creates lateral movement that can move you from a straight line to your bow or stern kicking out - completely changing the angles in your head very suddenly and changing a nice calm maneuver into a more chaotic one. You don't mention that having people on the bow and stern that know what to do and when to do it is also a critical component of a maneuver like this. Your team looked like they knew exactly when to pull in or drop lines off the bow and manage the fenders and stern lines. Nice job to everyone!

Great piloting, but I hope you do more about the administrative/crew management side of the Captain's job. I really liked your earlier videos about how the uniforms worked, or how the stewardesses worked together with the chef to serve, or what certifications you need to run a charter yacht. Most of the more recent ones are just docking and vacating, and we've already seen a lot of those. Can we get more variety again soon?

It would be interesting to see a super yacht med moor into that sliver of a space.

Hi Captain, have been watching you for months and saw AWOL today at Casamicciola, almost came over to say hi but saw that the guest were on the upper deck having lunch and decided not to come over.
Am very curious toes what your next command will be, and if you will keep working for the same owner as before.
May. you have good weather and following seas,
    Regards to the mrs,
    Mitch

So, you made a perpendicular exit this time? After the perpendicular parking you did last time. Wonderful. Finally, you graduated parking class. 😂

Nice job👍. Capreee is not the romantic place it was yrs ago. Entire Amalfi coast has lost a lot of it’s luster with over tourism.

Meanwhile, on the Miami boat ramps channel, they have video of free-for-all bumper boats with little boats that don't have lines ready or any fenders.

Hi Tristan, love your videos… because they give some real insights on life onboard a super yacht! However, each time I wonder how people really live on those yachts. With that I do not mean where they sleep and eat (that is obvious)… but for instance, where does the crew keep the wastecontainers? General waste, plastic waste, cans, glass. Surely the crew and 8-12 guests produce a lot of waste especially when being out at sea for longer periods. Next to that, I always see washing machines and dryers, but where do you put a drying rack or an ironing board once the laundry is done? Surely not on the aftdeck I presume :-). How does the crew fold bed sheets in those small spaces? I cannot see them go up to the main salon to have the space to do that kind of stuff… :-)
I’m sure that there is more ‘day to day stuff’ that we all take for granted in our homes that is not that easy on board of a yacht.

My old Ford Capri had a worse turning circle than your yacht. Big fenders for close encounters is always the way to go. Nice (not the French one) vid.

That's about as tight a slip as you could get. Nicely done Tristan!! I read somewhere you're about to ship AWOL to the US for the new owners; does that mean your owners have taken delivery and you've got your new command?

“Slow is smooth, smooth is fast”. It’s fast because you’re not spending hours exchanging papers so the boat you hit can contact your insurance company.

Tristan, I love watching your posts... I really do - I love the med and the boat thing you've got going on. Cannes, Antibes all just my kind of place! I'll be watching out for the Lambo when next down there!
    Now...You know it's coming don't you? the .... BUT!
It is pronounced pronUnciation, not pronOUnciation, so if there ever was a word to pronounce properly, it must start with this word ! lol Keep smiling!
please like me if you forgive me 😩🙂
All the best to you and your Crew out there !

I think I'd say that, when a tiny rub could cause tens of thousands of dollars in damage, you take your time. It's a lot cheaper ;-)

Trist, how on earth did you get the boat into that berth in the first place.
