You know, I went to Beacon and was having a great time until I was walking past the fifth witchy crystal spiritual dildo shop in a row and heard some gibberish that sounded like "Ho dee do'" and "conebread" and turned around in time to see Negroes walking around Beacon!!! Yes, Negroes! I thought I had excaped them in NYC but no they had hitchhiked to the hudson valley! Needless to say I got outta Beacon ASAP!!!
You can't beat upstate NY in the fall! I used to love heading up to Beacon and Cold Spring when I lived in NYC. It's a loooong flight these days, so I was happy to see this pop up on my feed today! Loved this walk, it brought back so many fond memories. Thanks, AK!
Very nice relaxing and explanatory walk. I love the towns along the Hudson River, north of NYC. I remember your mountain hike here last year. People should try to watch it 🙂
A very cosy township by the Hudson River NYC...AK is really enjoying his walk, we're too, fascinated by the colours of the building and 🌳 🏡 🌲 all in one...those shops are great in their unique decor 😀 😊...
Living there is absolutely stunning. I’ve lived in many Hudson valley towns and beacon was hands down the most amazing. The arts, the food, the folksy people.. just awesome.
Nice looking neighborhood , nice stores and restaurants 😎Beacon looks quite beautiful place , nice houses and all , overall very nice walk in nice place 🙂Thank you for sharing A K 🙂👍!!!
I miss the changing Fall leaves! I grew up across the river after my family moved from Queens when I was 10. I used to take the bus to NYC pretty regularly as a teen.
Thanks for showing us Beacon. I didn’t know the history of the town. I love the Hudson River Valley and all the towns along the river. We spent a week in the Hyde Park area around this time of year. Lots of history and fall leaves.
I see my old town has seen many changes, and all for the better, I've not been in Beacon since 1999 when I moved to Tennessee, been wanting to so many times to return but haven't been able to do to illnesses..
What a lovely little town. Thank you for sharing this walk. More smaller cities should be maintained and promoted. Life in larger cities is becoming unsustainable
I lived just up the road wappingers falls (across the highway) back in 07-09 . Loved the area, though beacon was no where near as 'revived' as i see it here. back then you saw the beginnings of it. but the town was super quite and moderately poor. But the area as a whole was showing signs of regrowth as people and businesses were still going thru the big financial fallout of that time. There wasnt much in terms of high paying jobs, but many including myself worked at the Gap's distribution plant just up the highway in Fishkill. As seen here the spring and summer months were amazing, All the small towns were just beautiful. And back then, startups were leaving the big cities to take advantage of these cheaper quite towns that had so much to offer. And yet metro north made commuting to the city easy. (but costly). So to see it today, and all thats come since is really profound. I just hope its growth did not come by way of pushing the locals out. that said, when i was there over a third of those shops were not their, all vacant. so its good to see the boon that had come.

I'm enjoying this so much. I remember when you hiked here, I was just becoming a watcher and was confused by the wrenches near certain people's names and really wanted one....🔧 🍂 🍁 🍃
Beacon is such a quaint, serene city, and I really enjoyed seeing the old architectures, shops, and fall foliage. 🤩 5:47 That giant Pusheen plushie is too cute!! 😆 29:50 Fishkill Overlook Fall and the defunct train tracks 😍 34:22 The hibiscus red tea looks refreshing, and I noticed there's a number of vegan places on Main Street. 😋 1:13:32 Gorgeous sunset at the waterfront! 😍 I appreciate you venturing out to different NY cities, and thank you for sharing this informative and lovely walk, AK! 🤗
Hi AK, loving your videos of New York recently. I like that you’ve gone upstate too and Beacon looks amazing especially at this time of year. I will watch your hiking video you mentioned. Thank you for relaxing and enjoyable content - from Australia. 💙
I know you were just up in Toronto & Niagara Falls, but you should come to Erie County (Buffalo, NY) sometime. There are some walkable villages and neighborhoods you could explore!
If you love small towns and scenery, check out the Lehigh Valley region of PA. You will be surprise. Also the Delaware river region of NJ/PA is a beautiful place to enjoy nature by the river.
This little town looks like all of the little towns we have here in Southern Ontario (particularly the ones a few hours' drive from Toronto) and is quite picturesque; great work once again.
Hi AK. I got to know you through JS. His CC is always active. Please activate the CC on your videos. I'm not a native Speaker and CC helps me to understand you better.
1:12:11-This type of entrance reminds me of the exits and entrances at GO (Government of Ontario) Transit stations here in Ontario (based out of Toronto's Union Station and usually starting from there.)
When I lived in Nelsonville (right next to the "Cold Spring" mentioned at the beginning of this video), 1957-1972, the stores at the western end of Main Street where the video begins were all closed. This section of Beacon was more of a slum.
It wasn't always like this. Beacon used to be run down 20 years ago with boarded up store fronts and then it came back to life when someone decided to bring the Dia Museum up here. That's when it all started.
Thanks for showcasing my beautiful town and its wonderful businesses
Thank you, AK for taking us to this beautiful town. I can practically breathe the fresh air! Wonderful video.
You're welcome! It's so amazing to be here to enjoy the scenery

Flight? It's an hour by Metro-North from Grand Central to Beacon.
Glad you enjoyed it, I love visiting Beacon & Cold Spring. Both amazing places to see during the autumn
@@Maestroa I *used* to live in NY, I'd have to fly there now!

Try Cold Spring next!
You should go across the bridge into newburgh and walk around there. Very interesting history, great food. Dont let its reputation scare you at all.
you chose a great day

You got it right this time. It's the City of Beacon, not the town. We have a mayor.
Also Matteawan which is the area by the mountain is pronounced as Matta-Wan.
@@Beacon_NY did you ever notice, on the show Law and Order that all the businesses of question are called Mattawan?

10:39 I'm confused, isn't a tap room a kind of tavern where you drink alcohol? but here it says olive oil, vinegar ..
Thank you AK
Looks like the Cold Spring has more visitors than the Beacon.
