As a woman in music, the degree of exploitation in this whole thing boils my blood ans makes my hair stand up. I'm glad this is coming up to the surface and I would wish it didnt take a whole diddy case for this issue in music (in any extent) to become more talked about but a win is a win. I really really hope after this both men and women working in the industry would be more careful about how they move, because it is very easy for things to become messy, specially in an industry that's dominated by men. Majority of the rooms I am in is always 85 percent men. People don't know how to act. Let this be a lesson that everything has a consequence. It may not be diddy or someone else, but this on a smaller scale happens everyday and it is around you. It is in Toronto too. It is in the writing camps, events, working with artists that are close to you. It is hard. People were recently shaming Tyla, including joe budden; for stepping away from usher at vma's during a performance because "she doesn't know the requirements of a performance and should have danced with usher because again, it is a performance ". That was the message that was praised by the dominant figures in music. Times have changed, we can't expect modern women to follow the rules of the past that is today outdated. Anyways I am going on a tangent, and this happens to men too like look at Justin Bieber, but hopefully moving forward people will be thinking of the intracies between a performance, a deal, an "industry" party, a persona vs. power abuse.
