WOW...im a house head from way back in the early 80s, from detroit. i hav always loved chi-town and the gift they gave the world especially the D. this right here is why blk ppl hav always and will always b the best this planet has to offer. always emulated, never duplicated
lets stop trin to label dance. lets just enjoy what we do and watch. i concider myself a freestyle dancer or what ever, and i just do what i do at a house club, and a hiphop club. anyway this was some of the most precise physical poetry ive seen in a while. they make it look effortless.
@alkh3myst Hey man, I couldn't have said that any BETTER. You definitely GET it. I LOVE dancing to dark tribal progressive house when it's 4am and the DJ's turning up the BPMs. Nothing beats the feeling & the VIBE: Unreal!!!!
a lot of house moves come from jaz dance which has a long tradition of social dancing. more house moves come from latin which has many more social dance styles. and house evolved from disco which has THE HUSTLE which is the closest to house social style and is represented at some international house competitions. plus house is strongly influenced by the gay scene - so not all social dancing needs to be between the opposit sex.
bom demais estou praticando esaa dança..acho incrivel e os tres que dançaram sao fantasticos parabens e a musica tambem..é espetacular.. B.boy Fê From Brasil...Paz
this is what my observation of house is. basically if you watch break dancing, house is all the moves that breakers do before they start breaking. its like a mix of rave pop and breaking all in one.
everyone rocked the footwork on the second round but I have to say my fav is the second kat....the rhythm catchin and flow is accurate....real dope......all of them are dope.
Most of the the time you dance by yourself. It's just you, and the music. Eventually you get into a state of flow. If you have a really hot DJ, it's almost like meditation. You lose yourself in an expanded universe. You should try it-instead of just watching videos.
Youre right man damn the way you ended your comment felt straight like a high power talking to me. Atm Im still under 21 and in NY many house clubs serve alcohol so age limits are strict. For now I just learn from masters at work and listen to a lot of music not solely only house
No I beg to differ..I'm from Chicago where house music was born as well as dancing to house music..The style of dance has no doubt changed but the cat with the dreads was more house than any of them..His footwork was much more complex and deep..
What style or sub-genre of house is this? Every house song I've listen too is about the synths, but this song just has that jazzy rhythm and style....also what song is this?
to all of the above incase you didn,t house is a movement that involves all styles of dance but there also is a foundation to house. look for the key players if you really want to see house in its true form. like ejoe, brooklyn terry, kalief, cricket, conway, brian green, shan s,marjaree-and all the ones i missed from nyc/nj peace.
There is a large amount of tap and jazz involved in their styles. Also you are watching an exhibition of solo dancing, this isn't how they would dance with a partner. These individuals are DANCERS though and I will guarantee can dance many types of both solo and partner dance.
i totally see where you're coming from... dogma sucks in all ventures. but i do appreciate them preserving it, because otherwise i probably wouldn't have seen it, and it's at least interesting. like a museum ;P
@tmtsa "A peacock who sits on his tail is just another turkey." Don't worry about feeling self-conscious. This life is the only one we get, SO LIVE IT!!!
I agree with conway6210 if u want to see real house dancing come out to N.Y.C. We been doing this sense the Mid 80's. It started out as Jackin. Out of all those names you mentioned Conway6210 you forgot one of the main legends of house dancing. MR. VOODOO RAY
u dont have to understand it, house, like every other dance, is all about expressing urself thru the music. im not flaming u, but if u danced a certain style and enjoyed it, u would know wut i mean.
I wouldnt say they had no control. They were all definitely dancing to the beat and playing with the rhythms. The only "breakdancer" was the white tshirt guy doing bboy toprock. I didn't care too much for that, it didnt fit the song. On the other hand,Baba (black shirt) was killing it with his style of house. That set he does around 3:00 is nice, he accentuates almost every drum shuffle. Hugson is alright too, he has the more typical house feel but mixing in hiphop and popping moves.
Hes right House and Bboying have no connection, some of the footwork in house may look a tiny bit similar to some of bboyings uprocking and that may have been an influence on the styles beginnings but besides that they have no connection at all.
@alkh3myst True true. Being there is a great teacher but getting out there is the hard part for me so looking at some of the basics seems like a good start maybe.
@TAGHERO1010 hey you should try watching to some rebeling, its a new style of dance. i have some vids on my channel but you can search on youtube. just put rebeling lol :)
@tmtsa Sure you can get inspiration from watching vids, but house culture has to be FELT. Don't worry about trying to do what you see advanced dancers doing, or even the latest step. Just get out there! Everybody had to start from somewhere.
sorry, love to see other people dance, yes get caught up in politricks,... u got to know what what's goin on, and keep dancing. if not lil proton1's will keep the creativity level at -1 forever. never advancing.
proton post some of your cipher sessions. u sound like ur trapppped in a box. if ur a housednacer and u dont dance beyond that which has already been created ur most likely the dancer in the cipher people cant wait to see out of the cipher. those dudes were breakin in the 80's. u can tell that there skillz have advanced. or mabey u cant. cant wait to see ur styles on here. im on the first respond to sound.
If you think you could do half any of what these people are doing then you probably have never even tried. All of their moves are controlled and calculated, the beat in this music is very complex yet they are staying on time and hitting almost every sound in the music. If you think they are just wilding out and moving you aren't paying very much attention or have little understanding of musical timing and structure.
@alkh3myst lol yes I've done this I dance to the flow of myself...I think I'm doing something pretty fantastic...but when I record myself ...I end up seeing myself look like a complete idiot lol XD Its better when you dance alone.
Looks like modern tap dancing to me ... also you can't really dance with a girl with those moves .... unless she dances the same ... which would be off putting.
whoa whoa whoaaaaaa, son im a bboy not a breakdancer get that straight first, bboying was first than house, and house is related to bboying. The disputes about which one is better been past so refrain from saying such things about bboys.
while the dancers do display some of the foundation steps, it looks more like the bboy dances. All proficient dancers can catch a beat and this is displayed in the video. I am not convinced that they are dancing true house. Can a salsa be confused with anything else? Then why have house dancing be subject to adjustments? I grew up with house, as I am in my 40's. Many of the moves have been lost over the years, however its good to see that an effort is being made to salvage the art form.
its soul dancing. its suppose to be an unlimited representation of ur soul, and if u just do the foundational structured moves then to me u have no style at all. thats where house, breakdancing, caporia, jazz, tap. those guys arnt restricted to the title housedancers by the styles they come with. i dont think housedancing and b-boyin have any thing to do with each other. ,house music and dancing is older than b-boying. its modern day disco/dance music. it evolved into what it is now.
i hate how veterans try to hold down dance styles trying to keep them from evolving evolution is the natural cycle of things can you imagine not seeing orginality in a dance it would be very monotonous and boring
@csj3rd YO RESPECT TO CHICAGO ...BUT DUDE WITH THE DREADS WAS BARLEY HOUSE DANCING ... KID WITH THE WHITE HAT WAS FAR BETTER \ HOUSE DANCE IS ABOUT BEING FLUID ..NOT SEEEING WHO CAN JUMP AROUND THE MOST CHECK EJOE =FLUID SHAN S FLUID EVERYONE ELSE JUST JUMPS AROUND !! LEARN IT SON
I'm flabergasted,, really feeling sorry for these guy's "This is a dance comp"............what is the DJ playing at....take that scratched piece of crap off the deck's and replace it.....you feel the music...oh and Blood while yah there, get rid of the DJ you can replace him too....yah all feeling that.... GIVE me a breask man...and i'm too polite to mention that....i'm kind but that DJ's charity?
blah, blah who cares about terms. dance is about sweating and having fun. its the most tribal form of self expression. once the style wars begin. its then becomes tainted. as long as your smiling you win. loftinh footwork. jesus walks on gravity with a pimp cane.word
The song is called ennio morricone - come maddalena (cosmos remix). It's track #1 on King Britt's Jazzmental album.

Hugson and Babson are DOPE! Had the pleasure of meeting them this past week while they were visiting LA :)
a lot of house moves come from jaz dance which has a long tradition of social dancing. more house moves come from latin which has many more social dance styles. and house evolved from disco which has THE HUSTLE which is the closest to house social style and is represented at some international house competitions. plus house is strongly influenced by the gay scene - so not all social dancing needs to be between the opposit sex.
