    This reminded me of my good old days in college in Color Theory class. For beginners struggling to determine values, it might be helpful to also print a monochrome print of their reference and use a hole punch on each of their values on their value scale to use as an overlay. It would also be useful to keep a color wheel handy to determine the complement color needed to gray down the color. Beginners should be aware that acrylic paints will dry a little darker and may need to be brightened up later. I appreciate your excellent lessons. I like how you emphasize values and color temperatures.

    I use that value sheet in coloring hair. We call it levels. I might change my terminology, because coloring hair also has value. Coloring at level 6. Will dry at a level 5. I have been watching. I painted a rose. Not in that much detail. I havent a clue how I did it. It needs some redoing. The stems and leaves are too thick on my painting. I will be changing that.
    Love these videos.

    David, for a very beginners like me who don’t know how to draw, do you suggest that I start with this particular method? Or I can skip this step and try to practice my own pedal drawing following your other videos?

    I was painting a close-up of an orchid that was a red-violet. As I was painting, I was amazed at how much bright red and orange were in it. Teaching yourself to paint what you are actually seeing and not what you think you know is not always easy.

    • @JansenArtEducation
      @JansenArtEducation  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Greying a color doesn't mean making grey, it means lowering the intensity from the beginning color. You don't have to see grey. Any color that has lower saturation from the starting color is considered "greyer". 😀

      Nope, I don't waste any paint. Many people think that, but they are not painting, I am. I use very little paint and save what is left. For this demonstration, I put out about $3 of paint. I sold this rose for $450. Not bad. $3 of paint for a $450 sale. That is not wasting paint. 😊

    The watercolor artists I watch do a value study first. I like the way you teach value along with color
