  • I go on a long fossil walk to the West of Lyme Regis, in conjunction with safe tide times. The best fossils are found at low tide .I hope you find some fossils along the Jurassic Coast-at low tide. Sometimes fossil hunting turns out to be treasure hunting, it’s fun just to see the “ treasures” on the large rocks. The Jurassic Coast really does have some stunning fossils. I recommend wearing safety glasses and sturdy rubber gloves when hammering the right rocks. Remember the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. Keep away from the dangerous cliffs. The best fossils are washed out onto the beaches at low tide, by the sea's actions. Look out for the slippery seaweed on the ledges and rocks. I offer fossil walks along the Jurassic Coast on the following website, so feel free to take a look at the website I made, with our online fossil walks ------www.lymeregisfo... There is a fossil collecting code of conduct in place along the Jurassic Coast- #fossilhunter#fossilhunting#ammonite

    Another cracking video Brandon, so interesting to hear your commentary on the geology and the ever-changing coastal landscape, I especially loved seeing that amazing shipwreck!!! Do you know how old it may be?

      Thanks 🙏 very much Tom. It’s a long distance to cover to go and see the geology of that area “ the slabs .” I always find that Pinhay Bay produces some of the Arnioceras sp. ammonites. The dredger has been there a long time 🕰️, I will try and find out more ? Have you seen those old Dredgers? from the past, they were quite a spectacle !

    So jealous of people who can collect ammonites on the regular. Great video - thanks for posting. Subscribed!

      Thanks 🙏 very much for subscribing and your comments. We are lucky 🍀 on this rapidly eroding coastline that we can collect the fossil specimens. I try and get a few informative fossil finding videos out each month.

    That’s a lovely walk to Pinhay bay so different than heading east to Charmouth Brandon .That Arni block is amazing nice split as well ,thx for the sieve by the way haven’t used it yet I have plans for it at a couple of my Silurian sites one of which I’m now a warden 😊

      Thanks 🙏 I really enjoyed the walk, Pinhay at low tide is such a great place to see. The sieve you’ve got has just the right sized holes for the smaller fossils. Sometimes when the holes are too small the sieve doesn’t operate so well.

    • @LymeRegisFossils
      @LymeRegisFossils  ปีที่แล้ว

      The best fossil collecting is at low tide along the Jurassic Coast- particularly after stormy weather conditions. The weather has been very settled during the half term school holiday week, and the tides aren’t great either. That said there are some super tides to come down collecting on at the end of March, along the Jurassic Coast. A lot of people were collecting in front of Church cliffs and that’s not a good fossil hunting area and the cliffs there are extremely dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning.

    Like your videos, but sometimes like this one the music is so loud I cannot hear you very well, it drowns out your voice. But love your advice and finds, I visited a few weeks ago and found ammonites and part of a shark tooth, it had the base and a spur each side, are many of these found?

    • @LymeRegisFossils
      @LymeRegisFossils  ปีที่แล้ว

      The shark teeth are really rare along the Jurassic Coast. Especially good shark teeth finds from the Cretaceous age . It would be interesting to see that I’m online . Yes 🙌 I think I need to get a microphone for my iPhone to speak louder at some point . Also on stormy 🌊 days having just an iPhone 📱 to talk into isn’t easy either

      @LymeRegisFossils should I take it into the centre at Charmouth? When I found it I didn't leave the beach till nearly 5.30pm so didn't have time to go there
