    Sadly this compilations doesn't show of what makes Neuer so special. He's one of the few goal keepers who's not afraid to go into the offensive by running far out into the field to attack the defenders instead of waiting for them to come to him.

      Im sry but thats something you shouldnt do, first rule you learn as Goal Keeper, never leave the Goal. Its not about being afraid, its about being a Goal Keeper, the most important player in this Sport. The only times where its, lets say ok to leave the Goal, is in the last 5 min while being 2 scores or more in the lead or when its clear you will lose and just say fuck it, like Neuer did against South Korea and what happend 0:2 for Korea. Trust me its never a good idea for a Keeper to just leave the Goal, its not about being brave or something its about teamwork, Keeper must trust his Team, just like they trust the Keeper to protect the Goal.

    • @RebellHAI
      @RebellHAI 5 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      @@brucedoyle4055 That's just not true. I agree that you learn at first to never leave the goal. But how you develop as a player is totally different and depends on so many factors. The way Manuel Neuer had played as an offensive goalkeeper is one of the main reasons why booth Bayern Munich and Germany had a big impact in Europe and in the world as well. See Manuel Neuer very often was deep in the field, sometimes even on the middle line or even further away so all 10 players can press so aggressive that they can't set up their strategy. And here's to why: Manuel Neuer did read the game, in fact sometimes he did that so damn good that he blocked deep passes which immediately stops the attempt of an attack of the opponent. This WAS very unique and only possible with an optimized strategy and with that teams around 2013/14. We have to add another reason to that which is very simply: impression. For over 7 years Neuer was "feared" (maybe a too strong word) by forwarders around the globe. This presence alone can help to undermine the psyche of opponents. And yes. I said WAS. My opinion is that he never recovered fully from his longtime injury. He lost his vision to read the game and he also lost his presence of fear.
      Of course: For 99% of goalkeepers the rule stand: Stay in the goal or at least inside your area. But there are players that can reach to more if every factor around this player are just right.

    • @brucedoyle4055
      @brucedoyle4055 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RebellHAI Ofcourse it's True, that's like the number one rule, I'm not criticising Neuer I'm just saying a Goalkeeper task is to be Goalkeeper and you do agree 99%. Listen fear or reputation mean shit if the Goal is empty. You trust your team out there to spread fear and you, the Goalkeeper should spread fear near the Goal, by blocking or attacking them at his range.

    Its a talent you have to be born with that he has. The techniques he uses is what he developed through experience over the years. The body twists. the feet the hands. The vision to know that a rebound will come or the other guy infront of you could get a head to the ball. Thats what sets him apart from the rest. Its one thing to goal keep but its a next thing to learn your opponents and what they are going to do every game. He needs a balon d'or.
    Also i love your reactions. Dont see much women doing what you do.

  • @Pinkyinter123
    @Pinkyinter123 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    When it comes to goalkeeping most of it is because of reaction/muscle memory... goalkeeper training works on a lot of scenarios and a lot of different types of shots (even dipping bouncing shots) then comes positioning which you spoke about and then footwork mostly. You can't make a save if you can't get there with your feet. Most important body part placements for goalkeepers 1.eyes 2.feet 3.hands

    The thing with reacting to a curve ball or a finesse shot as it is called, is about knowing how the player is hitting the ball in terms of their body language/shape. When I want to do a finesse shot, I shape my body in a different way so that exact shot happens. Plus I hit the ball with the inside of my foot (Outside of the foot finesse shot is called a trivela, Ricardo Quaresma's trademark shot) Goalkeepers practise saving different types of shots and get used to knowing what shot the player is going to use before they hit the ball. Becoming a good goalkeeper is mostly about having really good composure, reflexes and timing with a sprinkle of luck. Skill and luck always connect to each other when it comes to sports in general.

  • @jamiej5229

    goalkeepers train to not only stop the ball, but hitting awy from the the danger zone,the goal. thats why you can see a little twich when the actually touch the ball. and thats how they deal with curve-balls. whatever bodypart hits the ball, has to move to change the direction of the curve-ball. neuer is really really good at this.

    1. As a goalkeeper you ofzen use only one arm/hand because if you use 1 hand you can reach wider and its easier to go to the ball.
    2. You turn your body because at some point you turn your head to the side so you can't get the ball in the face that much and if you turn you body you can go ealier to the ball and the chance to get a goal is not that high anymore.
    3. When the opponent shoots you normally look at the ball and his spinn and somtimes how he hits the ball with his foot.
    4. You can't really prepair for the ball its like you think okay the ball is coming and you have to make a decision real quick and just go into the ball. You can't think about it that takes too long, you always have on you mind I am gonna go to the ball and the ball is not gonna be in and then you just do your best and go in it whatever it takes.
    5. Yes high helps a lot for a goalkeeper.
    I am a 15 year old (femal) goalkeeper I did play professional for 2 years so I know a lot about it so if you have questions just ask.😉😊

One thing I know when the ball was coming in my direction I never took my eyes of the ball. The rest is reacting. (there has been taller in the past). The problem is you've got to have a compromise between size and agility. Like you could have a keeper who is like 7ft 4 but if they can't react quickly there's no point

    How do the goalie know the curve the ball would take?
    The goalie simply looks at the opponents feet....and "How the opponent hits the ball"
    ...meaning there are 3 basic-techniques how to hit the ball ...for instance the ball is hit with the inside of the right foot = 1st technique..the ball always curves more or less to the left depending of the intensity of the spin.(and the intensity of the spin depends of how more or less central the ball was hit)...or... the ball is hit with the outside of the instep of the right foot = 2nd technique ...the ball always curves more or less to the right depending of the intensity of the spin...or ...the ball is hit - central - straight with the central-instep of your foot 3rd and most powerful technique..and the ball goes straight if you really hit the ball central in the middle...and doing these techniques with the left foot the ball curves vice versa....
    and therefore he usually knows which curve the ball will take by looking how the opponent hits the ball..because the movements to do an shot with the inside or the instep-outside or straight-instep are specific and recognizable ...
    and by long shots from far the rotation of the ball is also an indicator for which curve the ball will take as well...
    and by doing a freekick the starting-running-up-position and the way how the opponent actually runs up to hit the ball can also indicate which technique he would use to hit the ball as well....

    if you've been a goalkeeper for long you can tell where the curved ball is gonna end most of the time.It's about fitness timing flexibilty and precision.
