    Sorry for the repost. There was a copywrite issue with the background music. I changed it and uploaded it again. I switched to Artlist from Epidemic Sound.

    Jos. Magnus Master Blender Nancy Fraley here, also the 'creator/originator' of the Cigar Blend Bourbon craze going back to March 2016. You're batch #165 of JMCB has a 9 yo. 36% MGP rye Bourbon as the base, with some 16 y.o. Barton's and 20 y.o. 21% MGP rye Bourbon to round things out. Cheers, and glad you enjoyed it!

      Nancy Fraley? That's crazy! Never expected this. I'm grinning from ear to ear. My bottle is batch 165 and I would love to know the component ages. Any information you are willing to share I'll take. Thanks for watching the review. No joke this is the best bottle of bourbon I have had in a long time. Fantastic job! Nancy Fraley...unbelievable. Cheers!

      @whiskeyisajourney Nice! I normally go to the one by Ikea. How is dessert ridge? I'd say I get about 20% hit rate of getting some interesting.

    Was this a reupload?? I know I watched it more than 6 hours ago… ohh well….
    Dude!! Bottle Battle!! Great name!! Great first off the bat. My wife watches some of these with me and when you called out the ABV, she was like “ ohh that’s going to bite him in the …”. Then you nailed it. Calling out the cigar finishes. That was awesome. You set the bar high….. no pressure my friend..
    Love the new series.
    Cheers.

      There was a copywrite issue with the music so I had to take the video down and upload it again with different background music.
      I think this series is going to be fun. Going through my collection and selecting bottles to battle was an interesting endeavor. I had 20 when I shot this video and now I have 30.

    I was up at a friend's cabin this weekend and the liquor store had the Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend. It was $340 so I passed it up.

    Wow I can't believe those prices 😮, 204$ how old are they? And I thought scotches were expensive, crazy,if that's here at home I wonder how much more would that be if those companies ship them to Scotland.

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure of the age of either of them. Taxes and shipping cost add up. I've ordered a few bottles of scotch off The Whisky Exchange that I can't get in the US and it was crazy expensive.

    So many products are mediocre, so it's fantastic to find one you love. I'll have to look out for it next time I come over.

      In my opinion I think this one is worth the hunt. Price is high, but now that I know how it tastes I would pay it again once the bottle is gone.

    I was amazed by how good Talisker 18 is. I paid 138$ US dollars, a bit pricey but I have no regrets after I tried it but these prices you are saying, I guess they most be twice better than my 😮talisker 18

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Price and taste is so subjective you can't quantify it. AND prices across the country fluctuate drastically. I have the Talisker 10 and the Distillers addition and like them both. Cheers!

    Great video! I've had a sample of the JMCB before and it is good. Ridiculous prices on secondary though...if you can even find it

      I found my bottle at Total Wine and More. Walked right by it. It was on the bottom shelf in their glass case hidden from view. I barley recognized the long neck with the groves cut into it. I backtracked and sure enough there it was. Cheers!

    Nice video! I am super excited to try the Mangnus Cigar Blend now. Heard nothing but great things about it, except the price and finding a bottle. But I was able to find one under $200! I could only imagine it tasting that much better for that price. 😂

      Based on all the positive reviews on this bottle I was expecting it to be good, but not as good as it was. Few bottes deliver as advertised and in my opinion...this one does.

    I bought a JMCB#166 about a month ago and came to the same conclusion. It’s very good! Even at 1/2 the price the OE doesn’t measure up. I’ve got an unopened JMCB#109 too. Can’t wait to compare the two JMs.

    I was on vacation for a few weeks to Portugal and catching up on all the videos. This one is right up my alley. I also did this comparison earlier this year but with batch 161 vs the OECC. The OECC won for me in both with a cigar and without. I do have a couple other batches of the JMCB and thinking about opening them all up to do a blind flight. I have gone through some JMCBs already and they are consistently one of my favorite bottles with a cigar.

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow! I appreciate the dedication to the channel. I hope Portugal was fun! The OECC was better on the nose, but it let me down on the palate. If the JMCB smelled like the OECC it would be in my top 10 of all time. I liked it that much. Granted it was my first time trying it so I might have been influenced by the novelty of it. Lets see how I feel about the bottle as I get it into more blinds and work my way through the bottle.
