Being v Irish here, I spent your whole vid scanning the crowd behind you for people I know (can't believe I spotted NO-ONE... The mammy carrying her son home was sweet though). Bet I'm not the only one ;) Thanks for coming over, Tim, and for the review. Enjoy the weekend.
Dan Sheehan’s absence is noticeable, same with Furlong. Bealham was the one with two of the early knock ons and a penalty that halted Ireland’s attack early. Gus McCarthy is a breath of fresh air and looks like he’ll be leap-frogging Kelleher and Herring when Sheehan returns. O’Toole looked a step up from Bealham, but to be fair Bealham just isn’t a starter. He’s much better as an impact player off the bench. The bench won the game in the end. Casey is playing brilliantly at the moment, and Crowley is still better than Prendergast, although Prendergast did okay. Good to have some healthy competition between two promising young players in that position. Loved seeing Healy and O’Mahony come on and help secure the win, both absolute legends, but I’d rather not see them in green again. Time to build toward the future.
Ditto above comment. Dan Sheehan is a big loss. I would just add that Mike Catt is also a big loss as an attack coach. I'm not so sure about Andrew Goodman. Time will tell.
Well said. We need to change our attack, it has been looking very predictable for a while now. Really liking Gus McCarthy! Both SP and JC are doing great work at 10, different from each other but both confident and capable 👍 and Craig ‘Goliath’ Casey has been on fire ☘☘
@Quilty2 I think Andrew goodman seems to be more of a set play coach than an out and out attack coach. Great for set moves on the 5m line, but seems lacking on general attack.
Another great live post! 😎 Agree with Tim, as an irish man, I'll take win ugly any day of the week! 😆 Good for ireland to have plenty to still work on and improve to sharpen up for 6N, and great to see Aussies improve 👍
Was really hoping to catch you after the game and finally meet you in person Tim! Absolutely gutted I didn't but I promised a mate I'd meet then in the Horse Shoe House for a pint after the game😂😂 Ireland were exceptionally dull in attack if I may say so! Thought Crowley and Casey really livened things up when they came on! Huge congrats to Cian Healy on breaking the international caps record for Ireland!! Well done to Peter O'Mahoney and Iain Henderson also! Excited by Australia and really hope they can keep this exciting and unpredictable style going into the Lions tour next year!🙏🤞🇮🇪🇦🇺🏉🏉
Happy to see you at the Aviva and I hope you have a great night out in Dublin. As for the match, happy with the result but not the performance. Not sure what needs to change but it should be interesting to see what Easterby is going to bring to the table for the next 12 months
There’s some really well established players and coaches with a lot to answer for. big names are only worth keeping around if they continue to perform. There’s an attitude change needed in the irish camp. They just weren’t sharp enough. We want more from this team ☘️
Good to see you in Dublin Tim. Enjoy the nice weather with a few pints. Game of 2 halves. Ireland subs made a impact which is promising. We won't mention the line out. Stay positive heading to January 6 nations 😀
I thought we were shocking in the first half. Second half performance was considerably better but Australia's defence made life very difficult for us. Re: the lineout- there may be a coaching issue but I think we miss Sheehan's throwing as well. It always seems to function better when he's playing
Thanks Tim, once again great summary. Ireland need to keep building depth. Their go to’s are starting to look stale. They should be aiming to have 50 young fresh players usable in 2027. That way they might have a chance to get beyond the 1/4 finals.
Awesome to see so many families going to the game. Not been able to watch a live game in Dublin yet, but pub atmosphere is something special though :) Thank you Ireland for what you have given Rugby this year. Best of luck for best year. (🇿🇦)
Welcome Tim. Thank you so much for coming over to watch the game. We were sloppy especially in the first half. Nice to see Joe S back here. His team put in a great shift. We have a lot to improve on, handling but line out in particular. Paulie needs to get the line out sorted and fast. Have a fantastic night in Dublin and thanks again for making the trip 🇮🇪☘️
Great to see you in Ireland Tim. i felt that we lacked penetration, we neither have ball carriers like a young Cian Healy or Sean O'Brien or have the deception at the gain line that we had in the series win in NZ. Lineout is a serious issue and i suspect its a down side of having Joe McCarthy in the team. James Lowe has been poor this series and could see himself under pressure. i suspect that the Irish management will be looking to get Osbourne on the field (especially with the new laws allowing a contest in the air)may see Keenan scuffled to the wing. Great to see Joe back and Australia on the up. they've always been amazing innovators in the game.
The Munster lads did very well when they came on. I thought O'Mahony was excellent, went about his work with very slick hands. Good that Prendergast got a big start but I'd be surprised if Crowley doesn't start against England, France and Scotland in the Six Nations if he's fit.
Leinster fan here. I completely agree. I was a sceptic of Casey but I was wrong. He changed that game with no small help from crowley. Crowley is definitely starting the 6n and was always going to do so barring an unbelievable performance from prendergast. Some fresh attacking ideas are needed though.
Irelands error counts worry me, the thing that has been off this autumn is unforced knock ons, unforced bad passes and mostly very simple things that stuck last year just being butchered. Australia could go for broke here and not really get criticised because they have been a basket case for a few years now. I love what Schmidt did for Ireland and he will be great for Australia, I’m just glad he didn’t settle with NZ. I think Garry Ringrose showed why he needs to start. I’m hoping those small errors are cut out in spring, we killed ourselves in all these 4 Autumn tests. Not that the position were not good but a lot of Irelands issues are fixable in house.
As an irish fan i was shouting at the tv for us to keep the ball away from mcreight as he was a menace at the breakdown and destructive in the carry, banf of smith and pocock off him
tim, another great review..... thankyou...! lots of irish handling errosr, but that australia defense.... it was brutal, so physical and ferocious. ireland with some work to do. the aussie kicking poor as usual..... but the aussies are definitely going in the right direction with massive potential. hats off to joe schmidt...!
Yup the Irish! good take... played mediocour. Got it done, more to do.... We were not at our best in all aspects. See you at the 6 nations. Love this channel coz its real talk
Apart from the line out…I’m seeing the back line players being a yard or two slower! Maybe Osborne and Ringrose to slug it out at 13. And Aki and Henshaw as needed at 12. I thought Casey played well. Both tens were good in their own way. Dan Sheehan and Furlong sorely missed this series. But Mcarthy a good find too. I can see Stockdale making a return. I felt Ireland were playing countering/sucker punch rugby rather than front foot in your face stuff! JVDF was player of the autumn series! Awesome player. I thought Bellham was poor again today. Needs to find some form.
As an old Ireland supporter, I thank Australia. Their teachings must serve as a final reminder, before the next Six Nations, that perfection at this level is a pre-requisite, Fortune ebbs and flows like a rip-tide at this level of International competetiveness. I hope that Mr Farrell, his coaching team and the players can address the wee short-comings. Once teams like the All Blacks, Springboks and Wallabies have been beaten quite regularly, the insatiable greed of the supporter majority demands continual feeding. It is a gang/pack culture that we exist in these days. Slip, or fall over, and the pack decends like craven animals....A 'W' is demanded. Ask any All Black. Another good win Ireland. Well done. Huge congratulations to you Cian🏴☠☘
I'm surprised we rarely hear about the absence of Mike Catt, he didn't get the credit he now clearly deserved for Ireland's incredible multi-phase attack which certainly has not been the same since his departure at the end of the World Cup...
Tim enjoy the craic in BAC! Love the engagement with fans. Fair summary & agree on POC. The line out is a mess & if not sorted by the next game he has to go. 🇮🇪 are in transition and there are some good new players coming through BUT they have to improve handling errors and discipline otherwise they will lose games to penalty picks.
Casey and Crowley added pace to the team > prendergast did lots of nice stuff but how well did he attack the line? and did he and Aki gel? Gibson Park had a surprisingly average game, Thought O Mahony did lots of good stuff when he came on. I was a bit surprised Farrell took Ryan and McCarthy off so soon but the bench did work despite some of the ages of those on it. ...not sure that couple were meant to be on camera ...
Ireland may have only lost one of the Autumn internationals, but they have plenty to worry on…France, Scotland and even England will push them all the way, can’t wait!
Nice one Tim and yes the best commentary out there. While huge credit to the Wallabies, (their defence line is vulcanized rubber, nullified Ireland's attack) Ireland looked a bit distracted yet again, lacking their fluidity, opting for a battering ram instead (which the Aussies coped well with). This is a temporary hitch I think. I wonder whether anticipation of the imminent loss of their coach is a factor or whether the embarrassment of riches now at no 10, the need to rotate these new kids at that position, is disruptive. Either way Ireland seem to have lost some of their fire for now.
God I loved that jerseys also. Handling errors were disappointing again. It’s getting to the point that you have to stop calling them uncharacteristic. A lot of attack play happening in front the gain line. Few attempts to break line and offload, but maybe Australia’s uncharacteristically organised defence had a bit to do with that.
Is anyone else starting to think that the upper middle class crowd at the Aviva, that is starting to become an upper class crowd, are sucking the atmosphere out of the stadium and sucking the morale out of the team? I feel like the silence is sucking the life out of me as I watch the game! I went to a six nations game this year and the people in the crowd were ZERO craic. Negative craic, even. They told everyone to sit down, stop shouting, stop singing. I will never go again. The crowd at the world cup was AMAZING, and I believe it was because it was all normal people that can never get tickets to the Aviva en mass. Conspiracy theory: the crowd is the reason Ireland were terrible this Autumn. Give us the crowd from the SA game in Paris and we put 50 on the ABs and Ozzies.
I have thought that the atmosphere at the Aviva has been awful this autumn series, no heart or spirit in the crowd. You say in your comment “they” told everyone to sit down, stop shouting, stop singing. Who are “they”? What can be done about this? We need to get true rugby supporters at these games. I’ve tried several times to get a ticket, not a hope in hell!! ☘☘☘
@lizzyhanahoe4197 the crowd when I was there was very much weighted to the older side. And there was a lot of them who seemed like they wanted to watch the game as of they were at home. We were in the middle section but closer to one goal than the other. If you wanted to see James Lowe going for a try down the other side of the pitch, you needed to stand up. Every time we did stand to see it, you would hear roars of 'sit down!'. Some lads a bit away from started singing at various stages, and they'd be shouted at to shut up. I think they need to stop giving so many tickets to companies and clubs and open way more tickets up to the public. I know the clubs need the revenue from the tickets, so they might riot if that happened.
I’m 26 and have been going to games since 2003 because my family have been involved in gorey rugby club since the 90s and I’ve played since I was a kid. A lot of my mates from the club can’t get a hold of tickets because the club only get a certain amount meanwhile half of my co workers in the financial institutions I work for have no interest in rugby but still get free tickets with work. At the nz game I was given glares for actually singing amhrain na bfhiann and my nephew who I was with was told to “sit down and be quiet” because he was cheering . Fair to say I told the man who said it where to go !
"Attack from your own 22" is the major weakness of this Aussie team. "Exit your own 22" is the gameplan that all the top teams follow, for good reason.
Tim for the absolute best rugby atmosphere at a match you need to be in Landsdown road for a 6N match between Ireland and Wales. You will find an atmosphere like no other. The fans get on so well together it almost doesn't matter who wins. I have been to several rugby matches around the world but that is an unbelievable occasion.
My Welsh neighbour is taking me to the Wales v Ireland 6Ns at the Principality stadium in February!! I am soooo excited! It will be my first ever time watching a rugby match at a stadium. I’ll be in amongst the Welsh fans wearing my Irish vest with massive pride, I hope I don’t get clumped with a Leek 🤣🤣☘🇮🇪💚
@@lizzyhanahoe4197 I have a memory from back in God's time of being at a Wales v Ireland game which Wales won on points but Wales fans near me insisted Ireland were due the honours because it had scored the most tries!
@@murraymicha Fair play to them for that gesture. I have often wondered how the outcome of games might change if it did come down to the most tries scored? Interesting!
Australia were great at slowing down the ruck! Anyone think that Paul O’Connell is overrated as a line out coach? …Our lneout success - We were 13 out of 20 in World Cup and not looking any better!
I was gutted that my southern brethren couldn’t snatch a win at the end. But also excited for the Wallabies as I can see them growing game to game. This was a Lekker test to watch. Good on you Ireland and good luck for the six Nations. I know of at least two teams that would punish you for that poor gameplay.
If you remember a few years back Mike Catt was almost getting sacked because the attack wasn't clicking. But the England game during covid changed that. Ireland's attack feels the same at the moment under Andrew Goodman, it's just a bit away from clicking, but that's all it takes to look bad. The line out obviously needs sorting, but that's fixable🤞
We'll have to wait until summer tour for some changes. It's not in the remit to change things up before a 6nations, definitely needs freshing up. Would like to see Osborne and Cathal forde tried in the centre.
Crowley looked head and shoulders above Prendergast when he came on. I understand fresh legs and all that but Prendergasts passing in the first half looked slow and unimaginative!! Casey did well also but JGP put in a good hard shift for the first 65’ Finlay B needs to work on his ball handling his stats from this series for knock ons would be horrendous.
Yes Tim, that line out needs work. The best thing Paulie could do now before the 6N is spend a week in La Rochelle and watch Donncha Ryan in action and get some much needed tips from a PHD in line outs. As to selection of Sam over Jack, did anyone expect anything different when JS was brought into the equation?
If Donncha Ryan is that good Irl should hire him and fire POC. No room for sentiment at this level the expectation is you win your line full stop no excuses. It has been an absolute disgrace. Drop your hooker if you have to.
Ireland need to take their points with the kicks which is an Irish thing. Tim, you need to come over when they are playing in the Croke Park, the GAA stadium.
How in the hell is Paul O Connell keeping his job. The loneout has been a shambles for the past 18 months. Coat us badly in the world cup (remember farrell tearing into him about it at half time in the south africa game in Paris?) He has to be moved on. Not sure about Goodman and his attack ideas either. Break the bank to get Stuart Lancaster back into irish rugby me thinks. Prendergast d0d OK, fella needs to massively bulk up though. Just not at international standards in the physical stakes. But a huge talent once he puts on a few kgs
@fredcarr7275 Absolutely Fred. Our attack looks so blunt. And the lineout is beyond shambolic. I was at the final warm up game pre World cup (v England) and in the first half alone, we lost 6 of our own lineouts in the England 22. And it ended.up costing us the match v New.Zealand. He had to go. Amd if Goodman doesn't unproven things in the near future he could suffer the same fate
I think Lancaster would love to come back, but either to succeed Leo at Leinster or Farrell heading the national coaching ticket. Can't see him wanting to play second fiddle at this stage in his amazing comeback
Even to get lancaster back as head coach at leinster would do wonders for the national team. Let's face it, leinster, practically is ireland, and I say that as a munster fan. Leo hasn't gotten near what he should have achieved with that leinster team.
What you witnessed yesterday was a tired Leinster team become an Ireland team on the 65th minute when the deserving 10 entered the pitch and Casey wasn't bad either.
As an Irish fan I'll take the win. We need Dan Sheahan back asap. Harry Wilson for the Aussies what a baller. He is quality. Enjoy your night Tim. Keep safe mate and have your wits about you around the city center 🍀🍀
I was expecting the Aussies to show some stern stuff, & they didn't disappoint but I was also hoping Ireland would finally fire on all cylinders which wasn't the case unfortunately they were still making some bad handling errors & line outs.
Glad the Ozzies are coming right. Wow, the atmosphere coming out of the stadium is so subdued, and the supporters all seem so unfriendly. So different to the jovial atmosphere coming out of most other stadiums.
This Irish team are in trouble and have been this entire series. The lineout has been a problem since before the worldcup, and our attack is looking leggy and unimaginative. The level of carelessness and enforced errors has been off the charts and its not acceptable. The fact that Casey made an impact the moment he came on speaks volumes. Looking at the 4 games only Doris, Josh, Gus Mc Carthy and maybe a couple of others impressed. We saw too many avereage performances from players who arent focused enough on the job at hand. Dozens of handling errors again is a sign of lack of concentration. Is this the players getting complacent or is it the management getting distracted by the Lions series, or a bit of both? He's been a great servant but, how else can you justify Cian Healy still being anywhere near this squad? And what message does it send to younger players that a bit part player can cling to a squad place despite contributing precious few minutes on the pitch in the last couple of years. Healy has had the honour of representing his country, does that really mean the management keep using him just so he can break the Irish caps record ? There should be no room for sentimentality at this level. On current form Ireland will lose to England at home and will certainly lose to France. The only silver lining is that this precipitous drop in form comes mid world cup cycle when we're usually peaking. Personally I agree with Tony Ward, I really dont see why Farrell has to walk away for 12 months for the Lions gig. Mind you I dont think he should have gone for the Lions gig in the first place. Yes we've won the 6 nations under Farrell and climbed the rankings , but when its really mattered we've fallen short at the world cup. There has been far far too much talk about crowning a Johnny Sexton's replacement and not enough uncomfortable questions being asked of Farrell about a year long problem with the lineout and the reason for so many handling errors. Ultimately this drop in form, poor lineout and 1 dimensional attack and handling errors are all Farrells responsibility, if he cant get the message to the players then we need to blood in the squad, and if Farrell cant extract more from the players in his charge then he needs to go. Ask yourself would the boks or the all blacks be happy with the performances ireland stuttered to this autumn.
I agree about the coaching staff, lineout hasn't worked for too long under POC(great guy and fantastic player) and i think Stuart Lancaster made Andrew Goodman look a lot better than he is. Way to many penalties and handling issues this autumn series.
Being a legend doesnt excuse O'Connell's responsibilities for the poor performances in the line-out. A topic that i hear quite regularly is should O'Connell remain on as a coach for Ireland?
Nice to see you in Dublin. Very frustrating game if you Irish. However, I take the view winning when you play bad is a good sign. The real test is at the end of January (v England & without A Farrell). Joe is going do a good job at Australia and all of Ireland will wish him the best after his fantastic service to Irish rugby.
Plus let's start thinking of the next world cup, I hate to say it as a munster man but murray & o' Mahoney have to more a side to give opportunities to younger players for example , bird, tom there, cian prendergas, casey, just to name a few.
@@aaronmackey4355Completely agree loads of people saying we have lack of depth but we actually have more than people think we are just not bringing it through for some reason and I’m laser focused on getting past the quarter final of the next world cup but at the moment it’s looking unlikely
Forwards don't carry for enough meters anymore. We miss Sheehan and Conan. Furlong too. I'm tired of complaining about the lineout. I hope they come up with some fix soon. Nice to see the way the 10's played. Crowley was the much needed spark but I thought Sam P played well. He seems a bit limited in that he is not an attacking threat yet but his passing is top notch and that kick to the 5 meter line was gutsy.
I must have just walked past and missed you Tim! Spot on analysis, a win is a win however ugly, however Ireland do need to go back to basics and as you mentioned the IRFU to look at the Coaching Team as we head into the 6 Nations. Too many simple set play mistakes and basic handling errors. Fair play to the Aussies, they have improved massively and made us really work for it in the end. Hope you had your fill of pints of G!
Grest to see the wallabies building. Roll on the six nations. Irish rugby has some questions to answer. One of the most impressive things about SA at the world cup was the game style variety they could bring by changing personnel. If Ireland has been somewhat figured out, the Leinster system suddenly isn't painting such a bright future. Or is it just an Autumn funk? Time.Will.Tell
The Lineout has been in bits now for ages. The scrum is starting to fall behind, too. Maybe its time for Paul O'Connell to bounce. So many mistakes and easy out it gets tiring after a while. 4:38 the Jerseys are class. They need to keep that Gold crest.
Line out was crap in WC too. It is a morale killer. Would give POC one more game. Shape up or ship out. Not sure about Ronan Kellegher looks shaky. Gus McCarthy was an improvement.
I've been worrying about POC for a while. We depend way too much on our lineout for it to be that shaky. On the Jersey, I wish the Canterbury logo was a bit brighter and I would go buy 3 of them.
@@brendandaly8164I've heard talk that McCarthy should look for a new province, but I think Kelleher is the one that should be moved on. Hes a great player, but I think McCarthy looks like a better version of kelleher
Hard to complain about a 3 point loss with 25% territory and possession I suppose, especially because I thought it would be a quite comfortable 10-14pt win for the Irish but geez they looked entirely beatable there. I don't know how Schmidt's going to do it before the Lions tour but if they can polish off some of those rough edges the series is going to be phenomenal. Pleasing to see the wobs bench showing some impact. Absolutely gutted for Edmed, his one chance to show his wares at test level before the Lions and he lasts 2 minutes. I don't think Wright taking that ball out was a mistake, there was an Irish player right there. That breakdown was an absolute shambles, that's 2 weeks in a row, not sure if that's a wobs problem or the way it's being reffed. Prendergast looks to be good with ball in hand, especially kicking, but he missed a bunch of tackles, will be interesting to see if that gets targeted in the 6N.
Positives for Ireland - they knuckled down and found the win (though if I'm honest, I think the ref was favourable to Ireland). - Casey and Crowley came on and injected the needed pace/unpredictability/thread. The comfort there is that 9 and 10 feel like there are now several options that will keep pushing each other for the jersey Concerns: - The pack is looking like the depth is just not there now. - As much as I like Finlay Bealham, I think he's currently not delivering the level of performance needed. Worse, that fact now seems to be in his head somewhat. He needs some careful developing. - Seemingly very predictable back line plays (though Australia also take a lot of credit in their defensive lineup). - Too many basic errors / communication breakdown.
Balance of team is off, furlong and Sheehan badly missed. Robbie and bundee are 12’s. Ringrose needs to start.Crowley threatens the line and is much more physical than prendergast .. for now. Beirne in the row alternating big Joe and ryan. Back row were ok. VDF standout. Thought lowe wasn’t great.
I'm conflicted ..the praise that POC receives as a coach and yet since the world Cup the line out is awful. No sign of improving...In fact it contributed to our loss in the WC...needs to go. 😊
As an Irish fan, Ireland were lucky to get away with that. Australia are looking exciting for the first time in a few years. They should have won it really. Looking forward to a rejuvenated Aussie side and what they’ll bring.
Great review! Ireland looked a little shackled both in their play and the errors. Seems some of the players are a bit jaded, it’s being a long month for some of the them. Lineout issues are bit schoolboy mistakes, but seems it’s not fluid. Cheers and thanks
Australia played really well today, the game play was executed really well but they just were starved of the ball. Ireland need to be scrutinised rightfully for this series in my opinion. Handling errors and lineout losses have been a massive issue for us now, coaches need to be held accountable for it. A win is a win but when these issues are continuing they need to called out.
Petition to get every country's jersey looking like those 150 year Irish ones but in their own team's colours. They were brilliant!
Make them cotton and long sleeved.
I wasn't a fan of the collar but watching the game yesterday I'm sold.

We were lucky today. Lineouts worked better last week when McCarthy was throwing.
Fraser McReight is world class. Seriously strong at the breakdown.
The Munster lads did very well when they came on. I thought O'Mahony was excellent, went about his work with very slick hands. Good that Prendergast got a big start but I'd be surprised if Crowley doesn't start against England, France and Scotland in the Six Nations if he's fit.
He was always going to this was just to give him game time.
Getting him ready if Jack gets injured.
Hi Tim, love your on the spot flexibility with people. Keep up the great work
Fraser McReight best player on that pitch what a performance
The guy is world class, idk how to explain it.
He just has the brain for the game.
As an irish fan i was shouting at the tv for us to keep the ball away from mcreight as he was a menace at the breakdown and destructive in the carry, banf of smith and pocock off him
Alongside "bobby v" too. Aus loose forwards up there with the best
He was my POTM. Not sure who actually got it?
Agreed - he is excellent. POTM went to Doris - seems like they only award to the winning side, no critism of Doris - his stats were good
tim, another great review..... thankyou...!
lots of irish handling errosr, but that australia defense.... it was brutal, so physical and ferocious.
ireland with some work to do.
the aussie kicking poor as usual..... but the aussies are definitely going in the right direction with massive potential. hats off to joe schmidt...!
I love the fact that you commented on 'errosr'. But I suppose it was just a handling error.
Yup the Irish! good take... played mediocour. Got it done, more to do.... We were not at our best in all aspects. See you at the 6 nations. Love this channel coz its real talk
You are such a great oke, and it shows by how people are so receptive towards you, keep it up sir all the way from Cape Town South Africa
Agreed guss macarthy looked great though. I think Kellaher may lose his spot when sheehan comes back.
Love the jersey
Best rugby podcast, can't say better than that
Farrell “ get the Munster lads ready, they will get the job done “…H’on Crowley Casey and o Mahony !!
This game was just to give him match time.
Mike Catt was brilliant sadly missed
100%
Ireland may have only lost one of the Autumn internationals, but they have plenty to worry on…France, Scotland and even England will push them all the way, can’t wait!
Love that you dont get precious with punters 👍
Good man Tim, enjoy the rest of the night in D town 🫡
Agree lads totally! Too many corporates tickets maybe or the the upper middle class mentioned
Agree lads totally! Too many corporates tickets maybe or the the upper middle class mentioned
I can remember a time when we used to lose these sloppy matches so good to win messy
Australia were great at slowing down the ruck! Anyone think that Paul O’Connell is overrated as a line out coach? …Our lneout success - We were 13 out of 20 in World Cup and not looking any better!
O Connell has to go. Our lineout is a bloody shambles. And had been for a long time. No room for sentiment in the pro game. He has to be replaced
Crowley and Casey made the difference....Gus is a gem....need to change POC line out coach
@bengormley2517, Yeah, why not Leo Cullen?
Thanks for your analysis during 2024 Tim. Keep it up.
Aus is back! Lions series should be interesting….
As an irish fan, so happy to see oz starting to click again, makes for a good lions tour
Hopefully we can keep Joe after Lions series but he's a hard read. It looked like he was looking forward to be in Ireland again.
A backhanded compliment from you,. Lekker, we accept that. 👍
@ I love Irish rugby but also Scotland. They have been under the heel of mightier Northern teams for too long. It’s their time to shine.
Think this 6N will see more turnover than usual, but yeah it'll probably pick up pace during the summer tour.
Ireland looked most dangerous and more confident when Crowly came on to be honest
I think it was more the impact when Casey came on, but Crowley looked lively too
I think it was fresh legs and the fact time was running short.
I think it was the pace Casey brought more than Crowley
Crowley looked head and shoulders above Prendergast when he came on. I understand fresh legs and all that but Prendergasts passing in the first half looked slow and unimaginative!! Casey did well also but JGP put in a good hard shift for the first 65’
Finlay B needs to work on his ball handling his stats from this series for knock ons would be horrendous.
@@darylcummins9236 yep it was the tempo Casey brought. In my view it was also guss macarthy throwing the line outs got much better
It wasn't meant to be a slight to him it's about getting the kid game time.
Ireland need to take their points with the kicks which is an Irish thing.
Tim, you need to come over when they are playing in the Croke Park, the GAA stadium.
He needs to go to the showground and musgrave as well -irish rugby hotspots
How in the hell is Paul O Connell keeping his job. The loneout has been a shambles for the past 18 months. Coat us badly in the world cup (remember farrell tearing into him about it at half time in the south africa game in Paris?) He has to be moved on. Not sure about Goodman and his attack ideas either. Break the bank to get Stuart Lancaster back into irish rugby me thinks. Prendergast d0d OK, fella needs to massively bulk up though. Just not at international standards in the physical stakes. But a huge talent once he puts on a few kgs
Agree on need to review again O'Connell and Goodman's effectiveness as coaches.
Was at the match tim, definitely a scrappy match. Our own worst enemy at times
Hard to blame the coaches when Kelleher cant throw the ball into the lineout and in general our passing and catching is sub standard.
I was expecting the Aussies to show some stern stuff, & they didn't disappoint but I was also hoping Ireland would finally fire on all cylinders which wasn't the case unfortunately they were still making some bad handling errors & line outs.
Liked, commented and subscribed
Well done AUS what a game! Loved the game. Hats off to the referee
I agree about the coaching staff, lineout hasn't worked for too long under POC(great guy and fantastic player) and i think Stuart Lancaster made Andrew Goodman look a lot better than he is. Way to many penalties and handling issues this autumn series.
Enjoy Dublin Tim. Six nations should be interesting. Anyones game.
Amazing that both Ireland and Scotlands lineouts were hopeless but still managed to win. Work needed for both teams before the 6 Nations.
Looking forward to the Lions tour. The Aussies will be ready. They do not shy away from a challenge, and it will galvanize them.
Go Aussies!
if Australia had won tonight, it would have given Schmidt another psychological blow against Farrell
What was the other one?
@@x-latetv-x6816 quarter final of world cup, Schmidt had us figured out
@@patman142 🫡
Yep, we needed this win, good, bad or ugly.
Sorry, autocorrect, Baird, Tom Ahern, etc
I was at the game, it’s a pity I didn’t see you
The Lineout has been in bits now for ages.
Have a great night Tim.
Love it
Enjoy your weekend in my dirty ol' town Tim. 😉
Positives for Ireland
- they knuckled down and found the win (though if I'm honest, I think the ref was favourable to Ireland).
- Casey and Crowley came on and injected the needed pace/unpredictability/thread. The comfort there is that 9 and 10 feel like there are now several options that will keep pushing each other for the jersey
Concerns:
- The pack is looking like the depth is just not there now.
Is this Irish squad bringing in enough new blood over time to replace such an amazing squad?
Have to agree with you about the Irish attack
I'm conflicted ..the praise that POC receives as a coach and yet since the world Cup the line out is awful. No sign of improving...In fact it contributed to our loss in the WC...needs to go. 😊
As an Irish fan, Ireland were lucky to get away with that. Australia are looking exciting for the first time in a few years. They should have won it really. Looking forward to a rejuvenated Aussie side and what they’ll bring.
That was an Australian team that turned-up, unlike the Scottish experience a week ago.
Great game. Ireland and POC are under pressure regards the Lineout.. needs to be sorted..
‘Tis true that individually we have great voices, Tim. But together in unison, it’s hard to beat the Welsh.
Great review! Ireland looked a little shackled both in their play and the errors. Seems some of the players are a bit jaded, it’s being a long month for some of the them. Lineout issues are bit schoolboy mistakes, but seems it’s not fluid. Cheers and thanks
Next years rugby championship is going to be on fire
The Aussies done well
We were disjointed
Not good enough
Australia played really well today, the game play was executed really well but they just were starved of the ball.
Ireland need to be scrutinised rightfully for this series in my opinion. Handling errors and lineout losses have been a massive issue for us now, coaches need to be held accountable for it. A win is a win but when these issues are continuing they need to called out.
In summary tim, we were Shite again today, enjoy your stay in Dublin 😂
