I’ll wait till the night before the due date and then BOOM a giant burst of energy and usually that is when I come up with my best work. Even if I don’t get to sleep that night.
Absinthe's Esoteric Adventure you are just addicted to the adrenaline rush of short deadlines. Until the moment it's due the project is boring and uninteresting and just doesn't get the adrenaline and dopamine flowing like it does the day before it's do. Face it, you are a druggy, you are an adrenaline junky. Best work or not you live like that because you are an addict.
06:15 "They found out that Ne was the most difficult to get into flow, but once it was turned on, it would persistently stay tuned until it would burn out. If you're an ENTP that probably resonates with you". It doesn't "resonate". It's a knife of truth sliding right into my heart.
Step one: buy apartment building Step two: hire property manager Step three: paint, play guitar, read about kangaroos cooling themselves off by licking their forearms.
Oh my... I used to have that eleventh hour strategy and always meet the deadlines, it was a question of pride, honour or whatever one may call it. And once, I tripped. Somehow the deadline was there and I decided I didn't care enough. That made me go through an awful time.
@@rorschachsjournal2084 I've realized I have taken procrastination to a whole new level. If I say "I'll do this tomorrow", it can be anytime but NOT tomorrow.
Doing things at 11th hour and treating time like am abstract thing is exactly how I did my 4year uni honours projects. Had 7 months to do it. Most class were panicking for months inching their projects towards the deadline. I started mine 1 week before the deadline and got an A
I never promise stuff I can't deliver on. I'm more on the "I'll try to make it work, but no promises" extreme and I try to push deadlines as far back as humanly possible, so that I'll have the best chances at meeting it.
My wife and my work boss hated it when I got into that flow. I could work for 14 - 16 strait hours. At midnight, my wife would call my desk to remind me to come home. My boss would remind me that I wasn't authorized overtime.
#1 11:00 Discover ways to get into flow that don't require you bastardizing a strategy like making promises at the 11th hour #2 15:00 Practice radical honesty by avoiding the rush of approval that comes from promising something you can't deliver. #3
Hitting the need for exploration in order to get to a flow state resonates so much with me and is a reminder that, even during Covid, I simply have to explore. This can be tough in a regular work environment if the perception is you are focusing on extraneous things. But, those extraneous things are what fuel my energy for the routine parts of my work.
ENTPs don't respond well to a regimented linier structured work/social environment, but they do love a community. As an ENTP, I learned that I could always deliver the 80% solution in the time I committed to. Hence, I now add 40% to any forecasted commitment (because I am skeptical about myself). My coworkers learned to keep me inspired across the last 20%. My boss knew I needed gentle help to stay focused across the finished line. In the end, they were still astonished by me.
After my nights out social dancing, I’d feel so energized, I can flow-do anything! I’d dance anywhere from once a week, to at least monthly or I’d fall into a funk. I could dance less if I was traveling, swimming the ocean, and/or exploring. Definitely on point with this episode. Thanks for the reminder!
OMG I wish I had this information 40 years ago. Life would have been easier to understand the why of putting off doing major work on a projects until the very last minute. Thinking about when I started doing this was probably my senior year in high school when I started my term paper the night before it was due and felt that rush.
Does anyone have advice for getting in that "exploration" in quarantine/shut down? I only leave my home to go to work and occasionally the grocery store. I've been feeling so agitated and restless to the point I struggle to get my mind to focus on anything to get in a productive groove with it. Which in itself is agitating... a brutal cycle lately.
Fasting and irregular sleep has been somewhat of a help. It's something about being out of sync with my body that gives me a few hours in the day to focus and be somewhat productive. This shutdown thing has been horrible and most of the exploration of before has come to a halt. I keep pushing boundaries with my body and mind because it's the only thing I can truly explore without having to wear a mask.
Once I’ve been in that flow state of being organized and had my life under control until after a year or so from one day to another I was questioning myself why am I even doing this, all of this, in this specific way? It was like she said in the video the flow state basically burned out and I couldn’t keep it going anymore out of NOWHERE let me tell ya it was crazy. After that I got depressed and lost total control over my life, because I was living in routines without defined reason behind them the purpose of this organization flow state wasn’t actually clear for me and that’s why I lost it. Now I’m working on starting to organize my life again, but now with clear reasons and better techniques that fit my natural strengths. So if anybody has good organization techniques that go well with my type drop it in the reply section please. thank u :)
The 2 points that get me as an ENTP are 1 time isn't as linear as it is for my friends and family and 2 once I master something it becomes boring to me. Also being emphatic about something until I'm burnt out is something that I have to overcome
"Missing an appointment makes you feel like the worst piece of crap". So much that I can take months to get back to the person. I'm struggling with that now because I forgot an appointment with my specialist two weeks ago. Ugh.
ENTP READ ME- TBH, I THINK MOST ENTP'S JUST WANT TO BE HEARD WHEN ENGAGED IN DEBATE, NOT BECAUSE THEY WANT TO BE RIGHT JUST FOR THE SAKE OF DEBATING (not that, debating to be right, was ever your argument), BUT TO GET THEIR POINT ACROSS (AND MOST LIKELY LEARN SOMETHING IN THE PROCESS) OF DOING SO.
One thing I find it very fascinating that when it is "work" I need to wait until the burst of energy but when it comes to various topic topic I am interested in I genuinely keep on working on them until I get bored. So mainly the time I don't work I just do random bullshit complex stuffs and thinking which can for still called work since it consumes my energy.
Can you please do one of these for INFPs? I have great days where I'm totally productive and focused, other days I get almost nothing done even though I'm mentally focused on the task... It's really exhausting and I feel like a complete failure when this happens. I feel like I am exerting so much mental energy but with no results. On these days I might as well throw in the towel and play video games or watch TV but that makes me feel guilt as well. I would take any tips or advice on how to maximize my productivity.

Put off my health so I can have more money to pay taxes plus get the stimulus money so I can pay whatever else I owe and put it back into furthering my business. Yup this could of been avoided 😅😂🤭
I totally relate to the procrastination until you become superwoman and get it all done. The problem is, I hate this methodology. My family is suffering because of it and I feel burnt out doing it every time.
Being in ENTP in charge gets boring and lonely. Spreadsheets, if simple, at best is a guideline. Quick verbal check ins work best. And having someone who organizes my desk is a godsend, mostly.
Depends how bad the ENTP is. If he is a real baddie there is no way to organize the ENTP, and it is probably the fastest way to get yourself fired. It requires tremendous intimate relation to let someone else boss you around as ENTP, or a boat load of development. Likely, it either ends in an affair if you up to that, or being fired.
For an entp to be bossed around, he has to let his guard down. He will only do that when he is vulnerable. Now i know it’s a she so that could make things complicated, but if you up to that might still be a good shout.
