Not necessarily, this is often either ignored, or often not discussed when talking about intergalactic travel in the SW universe. In the book Outbound Flight, there was an attempt (I won't include spoilers) but let's just say it was not a failure of the project. Also, not discussed as well is the fact the Yuuzon Vong ARE from another galaxy and were only forced to use sublight (at the cost of thousands of years of travel) to reach the SW galaxy. It is explained that they did not have a hyperspace navigation point to actually use hyperspace. Also many books allude to the possibility that some smugglers and others have indeed left the galaxy and survived to tell about it. Look up Vuffi Raa, a "friend" of Lando Calrissian who in addition to being a type of droid is also a member of an intergalactic species known as the Silentium. They and the Abominor are believed to be the races responsible for the xenophobia and destruction of the original Yuuzon Vong homeworld.

Its so cool seeing the map of the Star Wars galaxy. Especially when you find the Maw and Kessel considering you can find where Han went for the Kessel run adding in all the stuff with the Sun Crusher and the Empire ambush. Also seeing a familiar place, you’d be like “Thats where Mandalore is? I would have never guessed”
What if we as Humans live in the Milky Way unknown region and thats why no aliens has visited us cuz they also only live and care about the most important trade routs and what if they will never come looking for us because they are fighting some huge war on a massive galactic scale !
But that doesn't explain the lack of force sensitives on our planet, there are at least a few per planetary species so eventually we would find out about it, knowing our government we could already but it's hidden from the public but the force is older than time so its impossible to conceal it forever especially when the people who are force sensitive are seemingly random.
the jade Dude oh there are definitely Force sensitives on our planet. Ive heard of several people who have done seemingly impossible thing. More commonly, some people have high intuition, sometimes called a 6th sense, which is basically like listening to or being guided by the Force. Theres even philosophies and religions about it, thohght its known by different names of course. Taoism is a great example.
if there was a massive war going on, we'd be able to pick up radiowaves emitting from it. there would be some sort of evidence our sensors would find.....we are lone in our solar system. If we're going to make contact with any alien race, they're going to need to be located inside our solar system. The universe is just too vast, otherwise.
I love all of your content regarding the unknown regions, wild space, hyperdrive craziness and starships. It is awesome creative fodder. Please keep it up.
You know what would be a safer way to explore the Unknown Regions? System hopping... We know here on Earth what the closest solar system to us is and how long it would take us to get there with our current tech. If Jakku was the starting point for The Empire to venture out into the Unknown Regions, you'd travel to the solar system closest to it first, and then go from there... Like stepping stones, only you're using solar systems instead... I'm sure eventually you'll develop a hyperspace lane from that maybe...
Thing is: To achieve that you'd need to settle on a planet, then start scanning that planet's sky to map out the local systems. Then start sending out probe droids to see if there's any debris between you and the target system. If there is, then you have to skip to the next system.
So Galactic Civilization has ended due to a war with a Super Weapon but many planets form new Civilizations. The Republic, The Empire, and the First Order are gone but new Factions of one planet, regions on a planet, or multiple regional planets remain. Some technology is lost but there is technology level differences from planet to planet. You have to form a new galactic empire while fixing the environmental and Geological damage from the war.
Or do you mean a RPG that gives you free will to choose different quests and interact with different programmed characters with its own personality. All in unique different areas of the game world (OR in this case universe). The possibilities would be endless. There would have to be multiple planets with its own unique fictional culture and characters with different backstories, personalities, and physical features. Along with pre-programmed quests unique to each area depending on which galactic faction you are apart of.
Thanks for doing this one. I've been needing more TL;DR stuff on this topic because I'm actually trying to come up with a TTRPG story about this exact thing.
Is wouldn't even be a battle. The Spirit of fire is a refitted CIVILIAN colony ship designed mainly for planetary assault. The pegesus us the exact opposite it idls a beast that is completely focused on killing space craft.
You know what it would be an awesome movie? A movie about a giant crew maping the unknow regions. It could be very awesome! New enemys, new systems, new species, new storys! It could be awesome!
Really nice content! From a scientific viewpoint the whole Star Wars Galaxy has a big mistake, though. In Galaxies the core region of the galaxy is the region with the dangerous radiation, the black holes, the gravity anomalies and so on. That's why life is possible on earth. It is out there in a remote side arm, where life like we know it is possible because there is lot of space between stars and thus not in a constant danger of being wiped out by the next gamma ray burst or supernova or similar things. So basically... the whole Star Wars Galaxy is kind of backwards. The core is the life friendly zone and the rim is the dangerous zone. It should be the other way round
Another reason why it is unexplored is because it is full of the most desturbing, creepy and weird ass shit you will ever find. Like seriously folks! When has something good ever come out of the unknown regions? I sure as hell can't think of a single time! It is an unexplored place full of the creepiest and strangest abominations that the galaxy has ever seen!
yeah unknown regions had some weirdest things inside it, advanced civilizations, technological planet(s?), crazy monsters etc. also you cant forget how it contained one of the most powerful empires in legends... Eternal empire.
Ruairi Watson cortana actually merged the coordinates acquired from the artifact at sigma octanus and the coordinates from the forerunner ship at reach(which i theorise is a keyship)and then made the slipspace jump.
This channel has quickly become my favorite. No bullshit just good content and eckhart actually listens to the viewers. (I still wanna see if the covenant force that invaded reach could invade coruscant) ;)
I'm not buying the probe idea. Both the Old Republic and Empire had the resources to do it. And like you said, it sounds like the Emperor was doing it. Probably in an attempt to locate the aliens invading from outside the Galaxy. But when it comes to the EU, its just a writing tool. They were probably saving the unknown lands in case they wanted to expand the lore. Much like Star Trek did with the Gamma/Delta Quadrants. That also brings up the issue that, for a history that's suppose to span hundreds of thousands of years, you'd think they would invent a new type of faster than light travel system. Again, they can make cloaking devices, planet sized super lasers, giant walking cities....but Star Trek style warp drives or dark matter elude them? Yeah, not buying that either.
I'm glad that I know another Star Wars fan who is very fascinated by the Unknown Regions. Star Trek already explored part of it's galaxy's own "Unknown Regions" (aka. the Delta Quadrant) in Voyager, but Star Wars has yet to really explore their uncharted parts of space. The new trilogy seems to be wanting to explore a bit of it though, since we know Starkiller Base (which may or may not be Ilum) was based in the Unknown Regions, and that the First Order has a presence there.
Actually, if we go by Attack of the Clones there is no such thing as the Unknown Regions in Star Wars unless we're talking deep extragalactic space. The conversation between Obi-Wan and the librarian in the movie made it quite clear that there are no unexplored parts in the local galactic cluster.
I love the Unknown Regions version in Canon. What I like about this uncharted section of the galaxy is how much we don't know about it. This to me adds a lot of mystery like a creepypasta. It's essentially like the Bermuda Triangle in space.
I appreciate your love and knowledge of the Star Wars universe. If you could explain a little more about how the whole Star Wars universe works compared to ours (meaning how our planets orbit around the sun) that’d be amazing

Historically towns are created when there is a massive sufficient and reliable food source is available or being maintained, that people can stay stationary in one place for a long time. Rivers(any large source of water), oasis, fertile plains for farms, and trade routes where food is exchange can create a town. It's food that influence their creation usually.
Thanks for the great video! Would you mind doing a video on recommended reads sometime? Would be interested to see which legends and Canon books you think are best
Eck, I think a lot of people like the Unknown Regions because they're unknown, there are many mysteries in there. It both kind of represents our fears, our fear of not knowing what could be lying in wait out there, while also representing our want to explore, to make the unknown known, it's kinda clever if you think about it that way. (That, or I'm overthinking everything once again)
In the tales of the Jedi comic, they had independent explorers looking for new hyperspace routes. The story I refer to involved dav and jori daragon (I think). They end up finding korriban and captured by the sith. In the Jedi path book, the Jedi had a corps of explorers looking for new places. You are right, it is dangerous work.
“Once, at the dawn of space travel, it had been no more difficult to move any of the stars than it was now to travel in the Ascendancy. But then, millennia ago, a series of chained supernova explosions throughout the region had sent huge masses tumbling at high speeds between the stars, some of them demolishing asteroids or whole worlds, others sparking more supernovas with their near-lightspeed impacts. The movement of all those masses, coupled with regions of heavy electromagnetic flux, resulted in the constantly changing hyperlanes that made voyage longer than a couple of star systems difficult and dangerous.” *Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising by Timothy Zahn.* The Chiss would actually use force-sensitive children known as “sky-walkers” whenever they had to travel in hyperspace in long distances, as they could use their Third Sight (the Force) to guide ships in hyperspace.
hand to hand? or ship combat. hand to hand the arbiter - sangeihli are way over 2m tall, blindingly fast, incredibly powerful, and trained and disciplined in the way of war from childhood. However covenant technology does surpass that of the empire, so who knows.
Thel Vadum in both. In space, he can just tell the Covenant fleet to snipe Thrawn's fleet with energy projectors from tens of thousands of kilometres away
This is cool and well done but if there are empires in the unknown regions which have had contact with the empire like the chiss then why is it unknown? Why haven't the chiss maps been used? After all some chiss are in the upper levels of the imperial government.
They probably were used to optimized Imperial probe missions. Space is a big place, and new discoveries can be made even in otherwise mapped areas, especially if different parties are looking for different things.
The difficulty of exploration with the Hyperdrive is one of the aspects that I think would be fertile ground for a Star Wars/Trek crossover. By 2381, the Federation has the far more accurate (if unrefined) Quantum Slipstream, which would be perfect for exploring the unknown region...and probably getting into space brawls with the Vagaari and Ssi Ruuk!

Same as we see in the Rebels TV show season 2 when the ghost crew and 2 lasat searching for Lira San and there are some kind of gravitational anomaly that can rip a ship apart but Zeb use his Bo Rifle to use it for some kinda protection for the Ghost but also guide them to Lira San. I think that also a hyperspace barrier and the Force guide them to the secret hyperspace Lane in that area to pass through
But how did ALL those ships at the end arrive to fight the ‘final order’
@@wardy6224 Theory: the amount of ships that showed up is surprisingly few considering they came from millions upon millions of planets. I think that some got lost
@@acsulag8002 sixteen thousand ships in a galaxy with one thousand sectors, at a minimum of fifty inhabited worlds each. That's one ship from every third world or so.

What if George Lucas actually doesn't came from Earth?
if there was a massive war going on, we'd be able to pick up radiowaves emitting from it. there would be some sort of evidence our sensors would find.....we are lone in our solar system. If we're going to make contact with any alien race, they're going to need to be located inside our solar system. The universe is just too vast, otherwise.
MinutemanSam he said that “it is sometimes called a 6th sense” he didn’t ever say it is the sixth type of sense we have
I FINALLY FOUND OUT WHAT THAT ONE SONG WAS!!!!! I've been looking for Home: Resonance for months ever since Eckhart started playing it!
The Geth (Mass Effect) Vs. The Separatist Droid Army (Star Wars)
Geth by a landslide
Well which geth? The reaper corrupted geth or AI geth (Legion).
AI Geth
Then Geth.
I think the geth wouldwin but the droids have tanks ships and overwhelming numbers
@@ZeroNumerous and then imagine how big space is, how many hundreds of thousands of stars there are in just one tiny pixel of that map...
Silent Witness sounds like a good plan!
Thank you for being so conscientious about sharing the music you use. You're a good content creator.
Imagine a Fallout 4 type game but set in the Star Wars universe and where you can travel the galaxy.
You mean Outer Worlds and No Mans Sky combined
So... a butt ugly, buggy and shallow Star Wars game? I'm pretty sure they can accommodate you there.
You can always try out table top rpg games like edge of the empire or if you want to explore some other universe I recomend the Traveller.
Could the UNSC stop a Zerg invasion of Earth or Reach.
I love the smell of stim pack in the morning
Unlikely.
You should do an “all planets destroyed” through all of Star Wars history
I know a lot of the music you put in the background from before I found this channel, really dragged me in keep it up!
Grand Admiral Thrawn vs Supreme commander Thel Vadam
We will succeed one day.
Thel Vadum wins, he can get his fleet to snipe Thrawn's fleet with energy projectors from 100,000 km away
I say tie they would see each others tactical genius team up and be the most unstoppable force ever created
Thanks for doing this one. I've been needing more TL;DR stuff on this topic because I'm actually trying to come up with a TTRPG story about this exact thing.
Listening from 2020, baby eckhart is so quiet
As always, wonderful video EckhartsLadder!
3:17, that is Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
HorseMan my home love it !
It's been nice watching this channel progressively get better and better. Specifically there are songs besides resonance that play now xD
Is it me or does it suck that we need to separate canon from legends and Eu?
As a general rule: if you have to ask if something is just you, it's probably not.
In my opinion I include legends and canon just minus Han dying in episode 7 to where he’s still around for the youzong vong war
UNSC Spirit of Fire vs Battlestar Pegasus
*Not giving up!
Never give up. Never surrender. You will rise victorious one day.
CaptainFusou never give up my apprentice!
*NEVER GIVE UP!*
Eh that could be summed up kinda fast tho pegasus gets murdered by sof mac
Is wouldn't even be a battle. The Spirit of fire is a refitted CIVILIAN colony ship designed mainly for planetary assault. The pegesus us the exact opposite it idls a beast that is completely focused on killing space craft.
You know what it would be an awesome movie?
A movie about a giant crew maping the unknow regions.
It could be very awesome!
New enemys,new systems,new species,new storys!
It could be awesome!
actually, that sounds like the perfect material for a tv series
Yeah, it was an awesome series when Star Trek did it in the 1960s. Lol ;)
You have just described star trek
Micah and jade dude beat me to it
Micah Blakeslee but Star Trek is complete shit
Love the video and the outro music “resonance by home”
Thank you for addressing this!!! I've been long puzzled by this question.
Sergeant Johnson vs Captain Rex
Johnson I don’t care what you have to say Johnson would win 1 trillion out of 10 times just with his coolness
It'd be GREAT to see a a Star Trek-like series of Star Wars where a cruiser or an ISD go on an exploration mission in unknow region.
Why are the Unknown Regions "Unknown"?
The answer is still unknown
Dude, im so happy you included the Yuuzhan Vong. You know your stuff.

+Thomas Naughton one of the best cities on the world! That and Dartmouth, of course
i was pumped when I seen this comment nova scofia native
Another Haligonian here. I definitely did a double-take when I saw that. Nicely done!
Thomas Naughton looks a lot different here in England...
Saw that! Super cool!!
Love your chanel ! One of the best SW out there ! Just discovered it so I have plenty of videos left to watch and it’s a good feeling !
Bruce Jedi Lee isnt there more star weirds sround that area too?
yeah unknown regions had some weirdest things inside it, advanced civilizations, technological planet(s?), crazy monsters etc. also you cant forget how it contained one of the most powerful empires in legends... Eternal empire.
Like Abeloth and the mgnnal-mgnnal
George put the kibosh on the "hyperspace disturbance"by showing that Kamino is actually in a satellite galaxy up over the main galactic disk.
Can you do a video on how cortana found slipspace coordinates for installation 04(although i know the answer lot of the community does'nt)
darth vader what is the answer
Ruairi Watson cortana actually merged the coordinates acquired from the artifact at sigma octanus and the coordinates from the forerunner ship at reach(which i theorise is a keyship)and then made the slipspace jump.
darth vader damn, my computer would have just melted.
Ruairi Watson 500 years future AI can handle the job,not to mention librarian made so that cortana would not melt xd.
darth vader OK 'takes out phone, googles nearest libary'
This channel has quickly become my favorite. No bullshit just good content and eckhart actually listens to the viewers. (I still wanna see if the covenant force that invaded reach could invade coruscant) ;)
+Nuclear Legacyy
Awesome video! Love how you inclulde *both EU and canon* stuff! Definitely subscribing :D
2-M Hover Tank (Star Wars) vs Scorpion Tank (Halo)
YES
The Grizzly Tank would be better.
If a scorpion can dystroy a scarab im sure it will at least stand a chance against a M-2
Scorpion tank ready to sting!
*command and conquer generals*
Interesting video. Makes you take scale of how large the story and characters can be...
Thunderbolt starfury from Babylon 5 vs the sabre from Halo reach.
I switched off before the new "canon" section
This is very cool. I knew space lanes were a thing but I never knew how physical they are in terms of paths to travel along.
So how did The Resistance get to Star Killer Base so quickly?
bad writing
Who knows the force sure lets go with that also it’s ilium so I’m sure that the empire had files from the Jedi order on how to get there
Nice. I always wondered about this. Thanks, Eckhard.
Can’t think of something to comment

Then don't

Good job eckheart your content is the best
I love the Unknown Regions version in Canon.
What I like about this uncharted section of the galaxy is how much we don't know about it.
This to me adds a lot of mystery like a creepypasta.
It's essentially like the Bermuda Triangle in space.
I appreciate your love and knowledge of the Star Wars universe. If you could explain a little more about how the whole Star Wars universe works compared to ours (meaning how our planets orbit around the sun) that’d be amazing
I've got some good star ship versus ideas!
*1.* 100 CR-90 Blockade Runners VS 1 Alligiance Star Destroyer
*2.* Aclemator Class Assult Ship VS Nebulon B Frigate
*3.* Droid Control Ship VS Scarif Shield Gate
*4.* Tie Phantom VS Tie Defender
*5.* T-800 Terminator VS IG-88
*6.* Victory 1 or 2 Star Destroyer VS MC-75
*7.* Abeloth VS Early DBZ Goku
*8.* 1,000 Tie Defenders VS The Sun Crusher
*9.* World Devistator VS Late Clone Wars Lucker Hulk Droid Control Ship
*10.* The Impirial forces over Scarif VS 1 Resergence Class Star Destroyer
1. 100 blockade runners are too much for a single allegiance class destroyer. They should win
2. Nebulon frigate would get wrecked
The rest idk
It's because the Star Wars universe don't have a Experience Points System...
Because venturing unto the Unknow is the better way to get better XP :)
I always figured that they were the "unknown regions" because they were A: The later regions to be explored (after galactic wars took place, therefore losing precedence) and B: There's fewer safe hyperspace lanes available.
USS Vengeance (Star Trek) vs BC-304 Daedalus (Stargate) both with full capabilities. Anubis's Mothership (Stargate) vs Eclipse Super Star Destroyer (Star Wars) Asuran Fleet at Asuras (Stargate) with ZPMs vs Coruscant's Defense Fleet (Star Wars) Goa'uld Fleet at Dakara (Stargate) vs Rebel Fleet at Endor (Star Wars) Sodan Warrior (Stargate) vs Elite Honor Guard (Halo) Wraith Hiveship (Stargate) vs Victory ll Star Destroyer (Star Wars)
TheRevyFilms I think Eck once said that it's really hard to pick a vs. when you put so many in one comment, because then he doesn't know which one people like.
Hmm I kinda thought this would be a problem, I'll suggest them one at a time on his next vid
U are forgetting one ship that would make mince meat our of all of them and that is ori mothership the only ship to match it is deadlus class battel cruiser
Just any Stargate vs Starwars and it looks like +TheRevyFilms will be happy.
+Beerus What the hell you going on about?
Man you could make a whole story about unknown regions exploreers
I would wonder what is out there in the unknown regions of the star wars universe.
Historically towns are created when there is a massive sufficient and reliable food source is available or being maintained, that people can stay stationary in one place for a long time. Rivers(any large source of water), oasis, fertile plains for farms, and trade routes where food is exchange can create a town. It's food that influence their creation usually.
The Gamma Quadrant 🌌
Great video--appreciate the work you obviously put into this
You sound like a young George Lucas.
eh
nah
Dude, you’re like the Buzzfeed of Star Wars. Keep it up.
You basically said black holes and gravitational anomalies twenty times.

Do the German Army from Wolfenstein the New Order VS the Imperial remnant
We are at the unknown region
“Once, at the dawn of space travel, it had been no more difficult to move any of the stars than it was now to travel in the Ascendancy. But then, millennia ago, a series of chained supernova explosions throughout the region had sent huge masses tumbling at high speeds between the stars, some of them demolishing asteroids or whole worlds, others sparking more supernovas with their near-lightspeed impacts. The movement of all those masses, coupled with regions of heavy electromagnetic flux, resulted in the constantly changing hyperlanes that made voyage longer than a couple of star systems difficult and dangerous.”
*Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising by Timothy Zahn.*
The Chiss would actually use force-sensitive children known as “sky-walkers” whenever they had to travel in hyperspace in long distances, as they could use their Third Sight (the Force) to guide ships in hyperspace.
Grand Admiral Thrawn vs Thel 'Vadam
hand to hand? or ship combat. hand to hand the arbiter - sangeihli are way over 2m tall, blindingly fast, incredibly powerful, and trained and disciplined in the way of war from childhood. Ship to ship, likely thrawn, as sangheili were both soldiers and tacticians, and although good at both, not quit masters of ship to ship combat, the way thrawn has specialised. However covenant technology does surpass that of the empire, so who knows.
Thel Vadum in both. In space, he can just tell the Covenant fleet to snipe Thrawn's fleet with energy projectors from tens of thousands of kilometres away
I love how this video finishes with no video crosslinks, just a starfield.
