I definitely felt the same struggles you were dealing with when I first started with zero experience, but I spent a few hours messing around with auto pilot and watching a few good video tutorials on the 737 max and it made it worlds easier. Now its probably takes less than 5 minutes to configure it all and less than a minute into the flight I am usually on full AP and doing stuff around the house while the flight continues. On some of the longer flights (7 hrs or more) I can even walk my dog and cook dinner while the plane flies!
Yeah I really need to finish up my learning of autopilot. I tried to skip to the very last step and went for a run, thinking that I had set up autopilot correctly. I get back after about an hour to find out that for an entire hour by plane had been flying in the exact opposite direction. Needless to say I was a little upset. dont reduce your speed to soon your like 10nm from the final. until you in final go to 185-195 knots when in final. your speed should be over 10 000ft 250 kts, under 10 you can go at 240kts, reduce to 220 around 20miles of destination and reduce to approch speed.
