Something i should have made more mentions of: not all weapons are purchasable, some are loot only. When i say "take X not Y", i should really have said "if you have Y, don't bother with X" As an example, the Salvo is loot only, but coda can be bought. So if you want one of them, buy the coda, unless you have a salvo
In pretty much every FPS game, I've always gravitated towards the DMR class of weapons. I like heavy hitting semi-auto rifles that reward skillful aim and recoil control, yet also being serviceable in most ranges. That's why I really like the A03. I don't use it as a "sniper rifle" like I would an Arrowhead, but rather as a heavier hitting S71 that can more consistently one-shot to the head.
@@RobotSpartanagreed. A03 is not a sniper rifle. It's got the Alpha that you'd expect from the feel of the S71, just the size and handling of a sniper rifle. It's a skill weapon if you prefer semi-auto ARs. Pisses me off that I have to shoot an unarmored opponent in the face twice to drop them (3x for the P4).
Great vid and well put together. Thanks for the hard work. I will stop selling all those P6s and get rid of my A03s (which I had cos they look cool - the one point missing from your table and of course the most important factor) surprised at the FS-9 result, but I had started preferring the S71 and Karna anyway. Single shot accuracy FTW.
While his A-03 assesment is correct on paper, i have to disagree on the rating. I find the A-03 to be extremely usable with a 4X sight in bunker missions. The ammo doesnt take much room either. Just my experience so far in this patch.
@@rybuds47 To be clear, i'm not saying the A03 is unusable, just that the other options are better choices. Incidentally, you running it with an x4 scope does make it more of a marksmans weapon, so at least i know i wasn't talking bollocks! I have an A03 (from some referral bonus), and i do use it to good effect, but the moment i found a P6 i swapped.
Hey if you don't use them (and people are paying a pretty penny right now) then sell away. The A03 is useable, just not the best option. Rule of cool still plays a big part though! (and i do love my gemini weapons) I was surprised at the FS-9 myself. It used to be much closer to the F55, but i think CIG altered it's alpha damage slightly
Much appreciated. It was similar to what I was feeling but I hadn't made a change in my playstyle yet. My biggest change I think is I think I'll have to give the Custodian a try. When I've used SMGs, it's mostly been C54s since they're so common.
Happy to provide :) I still use the C54 in most situations myself, as i tend to find myself in sub 20m engagements where its better DPS. Custodian is definitely the one for beyond that though
I am so surprised - I used P4-AR all the time for bunker missions and it was just fantastic. But what I did not realize is, that P4-AR is considered an assault rifle, not an SMG. Then I saw your video and it all became clear. Thank you for the comparison!
I should have been more clear that no weapon is "bad". They're actually really well balanced, sort of everything is at least A tier, but some are S tier ya know? P8-SC is the SMG version of the P4-AR by the way :)
I find the Crusader bunker missions tend to have friendlies that carry P4ARs with compensators and ACOG scopes, so not only will you'll almost always find ammo for it, but the mods make it a somewhat decent rifle until you can find better weapons. I tend to collect the dropped ones for their mods, and sell the stripped rifles.
Aye, the sheer quantity of them you find gives them value. I guess that's why CIG made them not quite as good? Incidentally, the 890 mission, friendlies carry P4AR, enemies carry the P8SC, usually with decent scopes
The Gallant is still pretty much my FPS weapon of choice (although the Custodian is a close second). I like the sound it makes as well as Klaus & Warner’s background lore. You can buy it at the Live Fire stores at the L1 refinery stations, so whenever I do some mining I usually will stock up on guns & ammo for later, LOL.
Excellent video! This something I've been interested to look at, especially with the loot/shop changes for our personal firearms. One thing I think would have been interesting to mention would have been accuracy. It's been awhile, but if I recall correctly, the AO-3 Sniper Rifle has an accuracy reduction as you increase firerate; also, I think the semi "mode" of the Arrowhead has worse accuracy compared to the charge mode. I guess what mean to say is it would be an interesting comparison to see the "effective" dps of some weapons. Otherwise, I found this video extremely informative! PS. I know the S71 is semi-auto only, but I found it odd that the model has a select fire feature for full auto. Maybe an oversight?
The accuracy stuff is part of what i rolled into handling; if you check the google sheet in the description, there are 3 columns at the end. You got kick back per shot, max deviation, and how much the deviation settles per second. You are also correct that the semi mode of the arrowhead has worse accuracy (thats why it has a lower handling value on the chart). Actually, the charge takes so long, that you never suffer with accuracy on the arrowhead in that mode! As for effective DPS, its really hard to put a definite number on due to the human factor. As an example, my effective DPS with a C54 will be higher than a new players because i'm used to its kick and can instinctively control it. On the S71, it's been called out to CIG in the past (couple years ago now). Apparently they modelled it as they weren't sure how the weapon would be set up, and decided after the fact to make it repeat mode only :)
@@m4_patriot374 Loot enough crates, and even rarer drops will spawn I THINK pistols are more common than other loot drops (i need to dig into it) so salvos will come up more than other uncommon items. However, you'll notice you probably find a lot more arclights etc than salvos
my fav is a silenced custodian always plenty of ammo to loot for it and i like the way it fires with high ammo count and stays on target well. and pistol i go with coda or salvo silenced. for sniping i use the arrowhead once again silenced {i like silencers :) }
Demeco LMG, tier 5 merc mission last wave heavies can carry them and 5-6 ammo clips of 100 rounds. P6-AR rifle Easy run camp lift area or server room then sweep at two enemies left.
@@RobotSpartan it's like how the LMG is supposed to work IRL ^^ not like the other crap FPS (call of duty or others) where LMG are beat by everything... but they need to make "combat tiredness" or something like that with overweight loadout. ps : sorry for my english.
@@MaxaraUD english was better than most native english speakers! Combat tiredness could be interesting. It sort of already happens with the stamina being tied to heart-rate, and you being slowed when carrying more weight, but would love to see an extension of that
I like the P6LR because it has the potential to knock down enemies. I'm not sure if other weapons do this, but for that reason alone that's what I use. You should do a video on how knockdowns work!
Cool looking gun, long range shooter, I pair it using the Demeco LMG, fitted with a X3 scope, 2 class compensator and laser pointer. Rifle I use a x4 or x6 scope and compensator for head shots
Knockdowns is something i've been trying to work out. In game it feels really inconsistent to me, and i can't figure it from the game data either. It's in the works, but will take a lot of trial and error until i have it figured!
All of the data is pulled directly from the game files, then sanity checked in game to make sure there's no quirks, so its as accurate as can plausibly be. Basically, i took the idea of what erkul does for ships, and did it for FPS :)
Fantastic content Thank you so much Pictures of the weapons and where to get them is the only thing I wish your video provided. Now I need to go search for that info lol 😉
That was changing every patch so i thought it best to avoid that! I did mention what is loot only though :) I did consider doing a render of every weapon (like i did on the attachments video) but it became a bit excessive. My GPU would have filed a restraining order on me!
This is my current list as of 3.19.1 (September 2023) Pistols: 1. Coda with Laser, Compensator, and 2x Optic - Used as my self defense weapon while doing courier and trading work. It keeps me lightweight but packs a punch, its just to fight to escape. 2. Arclite Laser Pistol with Laser, Suppressor, and 1x Optic - Used as my sidearm due to its high capacity, low recoil, and decent damage for a sidearm. SMG: 1. P8-SC with Laser, Suppressor, and 2x Optic - This is my "go-to" bunker gun. Its quiet, easy to control on full auto, and accurate, plus with a good rate of fire. It's also cheap and easy to find. Rifle: 1. Karna Plasma Rifle with Laser, E-Mod Compensator, and 3x Optic - This is my "go-to" battle rifle, it hits like a freight train, but requires skill to use effectively. Useful in a wide variety of situations. Expensive to buy, but also loot-able, it has saved my life quite a few times, and has a plethora of fire modes that makes it highly adaptable. Sniper Rifle: 1. Scalpel Sniper with Laser, 4x Optic, and Compensator - This is my midrange "hammer" or DMR, its burst fire mode makes it viable for closer in engagements that require rapid target incapacitation. 2. P6-LR with Laser, 8x Monitor or 16x Optic, and Suppressor - This is my true long range "stealth sniper", this is used for taking targets out over 100m away and from cover. This rifle needs to be looted to obtain and is only used in application specific instances. However this thing hits the HARDEST out of all of the Sniper Weapon System per shot, only the Scalpel can out damage it with its "burst fire".
Alpha is a generic term used in games, most often to describe the amount of damage a single hit does Actually surprised nothing comes up in a google search. Been a common term (at least, in any game i've played) for longer than i remember 😅
I feel like somehting got did dirty with the fs-9, in game in a beast and eats targets quick, but it might be bugged because everytime you pull the trigger it shots two bullets so tap firing it can be devastating. Just it feels much better than it looks on paper.(and it's much easier to get and ammo for it is easy to come by making staying in the feild real easy)
Oh the FS9 isn't bad by any account. It does have the benefit of a shorter spool time compared to the Gemini, and even without that Its an LMG and LMG's are stupid strong. Sorta like, FS9 is S tier. But the other two are just ahead in the S tier
@@RobotSpartan The F55 is a beast, but it's not fast. It's a heavy weapon that's a great force multiplier and I absolutely love it for duo/trio runs, but FS-9 will never let you down solo. disappointingly low alpha in comparison to the recoil, but that doesn't matter nearly as much in PvE as it does in PvP.
Might be worth to consider that (at least in PVP) ballistic weapons have the added benefit of being harder to find the shooter at distance Not so much a factor for an arrowheads single shots, but it's quite easy to locate someone if shooting auto with a laser rifle/lmg Love your summaries though!!!! 😀
Unchanged since at least 3.13. Other things have moved around since then though. Its not fundamentally bad to be fair, its just a tad behind (sort of 5% across the board). Side note; i said it was okay in the old vid, but with all the changes, and my FPS experience increasing as well, my opinion on the P4 has changed since then.
P4 has always been a perfectly balanced adequate weapon. It's acceptably mediocre at everything, and it's meant to be a versatile weapon with no particular strengths or weaknesses (like most Behring products)
I am centered around Microtech and I find with the bunker missions in this locale, the pistol I see most of is the Salvo, and I have never seen a Coda, like ever...
bizarrely, the coda seems rarer these days than the salvo for a lot of people (inc. me) Whats really bizarre is that the salvo is meant to be rare loot, the coda more common!
Technically its a plasma weapon (same as the devestator), so they're the only "energy weapons" coded to behave like ballistics :) I suspect that when they add the damage type, it will be given thermal damage instead of energy
I'm a behring boy, I like to have weapons of the same company for roleplay reasons however I chose behring for the overall design of the guns and also the availability of ammunitions. I roll a P8 with a s38 tho I mostly use the P8. Ill bring the FS-9 or P6-LR depending on missions or shenanigans I get myself into but its rare. Hopefully Behring guns get a buff in the future or make weapons stats in general similar except for certain ones with specialties. I like the idea of choosing certain guns for the aesthetic more than the fact its the meta.
I'm sort of like that with Gemini - love how they look and so tend towards them. Consequence is, it's influenced my play style to be more "saturation over impact". Which is odd, as historically I've always been the other way around 😅 Only exception I make is the side arm, as the LH86 is just all round bad, and the salvo just all round good
Suicide runs are for sure the best way to do bunkers currently. Hopefully when (read if) we finally get SM, AI wont respond at 1fps and proper planning will actually be needed
I carry an S71 for my long gun and a Coda as my sidearm along with a sawtooth combat knife. S71 has 30 round capacity and a good rate of fire at semi-auto(no wasted ammo) For sniper it's P6 or AO 3.
I used to buy weapons for my personal defense and for bunker missions. Recently i noticed that you don’t need more than just the handgun. Save your money. I do the 890J and bunkers etc just with the pistol and if i need more i just pick up the weapons from enemies that i downed.
Its a viable option, but only because AI is jank as hell right now. Hopefully once servers are running at a reasonable rate AI will actually put up a fight
Was thinking of doing an all Behring Loadout and an all Klaus & Werner loadout. I'm seeing that Behring weapons kinda suck. Kinda sad, wanted to pretend I was UEE Marine.
@@huskygamer5253 I'm, in an odd way, glad they don't. They're insanely common with NPC's (good and bad), so it rewards you in a way for coming prepared, and not having to rely on picking up the enemies weapons
I do bunkers all the time, the P8 is the best starter as they drop often enough, but after that you want a P4 because they drop like candy. A gallant is good but the frequency by which p4s drop make the gallant not so great in higher level bunkers where you have to take on waves. Obviously the gallant technically is better, but situationally the P8 and P4 are definitely better options. Avoid shotguns, you don't want to get close anyway since the AI is so random.
I personally like to use the P6-LR, and the FS-9. P6-LR is just reassuring to use at multiple ranges because most enemies go down in one hit, and from my personal experience the FS-9 is decent, though I guess I should give the other LMGs another go to see if I like them more.
Aye P6 has been my go to for a long time, especially as we rarely engage at a distance long enough wherein the arrowhead is better Fs-9 isn't bad by any measure to be clear, just slightly behind 🙂
P6 for life holmes! :P , I was able to hold down the inside of Jt for 4 hours with a p6 that I'd lost the sight to somehow (thanks cig! ). It knocks everything with a head tap. They were even sending in 4 dudes at once with grenade launchers and the mighty Pico's blessing sent them home in body bags. This is the second JT I've tried holding solo and the p6 did it with ease, AGAIN. She can kill from a head tap at 1.2km+ (so no it doesn't suffer from range, you just have to aim higher)and still cleanly point fire a .50 through someones helmet at 5 m. Not even heavies with fs-9's stood a chance, they'd hit and die before they'd shoot a single bullet.
Lord Pico only accepts the P6. i might know how you lost the sight. If you loot a weapon with attachments from a box, and place it straight onto your back, the attachments disappear. You have to either drag it from the box to your hand, OR, to the floor and pick it up. Took me an hour to figure wtf was happening when i went on a sniper looting spree! 😂 On the 1hko headshots from over 1km, aye head shots will still do it. Body shots wont past i THINK 600m? I'd need to check
@@escapetarkov3838 Always happy to be of service! And aye, obviously this video covered a lot, but i've had enough comments that makes me think i need to do some videos showing stuff actually in game. need the apollo to hurry up and release first though now the cutty red lacks respawn. I doubt my test dum... ahem... friend would be willing to fly back after ever shot!
The best FPS weapon is the one you actually have when you need one, you know how to use it, and in the case of SC, it doesn't bug out in the middle of a fight.
i went through the numbers a few days ago actually, following a reddit discussion. nothing has changed numbers wise, though something i did forget is the spool time of the LMG's making the FS9 better in CQB
6:18 "...but does so at the cost of having the lowest Effective Range of any Weapon in the game. ...To the point that... I'm pretty sure the knife... has a... longer... range, actually." Sums up why I usually dislike using Shotguns in most FPS games. Except that it feels like it's effective range is only slightly longer than the Knife
Love how you included all my dramatic, thought evoked pauses XD Same really. Having done clay Pidgeon shooting a fair few times (i think Americans call them skeets?) i can say from experience that shotguns are effective far beyond a few meters. I get its meant to be a balance thing, but there are other ways to do it...
i dont know if you have actually used the fs-9 ingame, but it is by far the best close range weapon. in pvp you out gun both the demco and F-55 close range since the f-55 has to spool up and you dont. it only loses to the demco medium range but if you manage your recoil you still out dps the demco medium range.
The spool is something i forgot to mention, but those aren't weapons designed for CQB, so i intentionally avoided mentioning them for that particular use case. Hindsight, i probably should have made a comment on it
@@RobotSpartan I did notice that, and use case is an important factor. Some OP weapons are absolute shit in different situations. F55 has come up a bunch on that topic, and Citizen Kate's video tries to address that, but SC doesn't have enough content to flesh that out yet, and Skunk Works does a lot of PvP org battles that most SC players won't ever participate in.
@@uselessmitten7836 Agreed Will be sure to check out Kates video! I'd love to take part in some of the skunkworks stuff at some point. Looks insanely fun
there are yes. 3 types exist - sights: red dot, holo, scope, various zoom levels for each - under barrel: laser pointers or torches (no grenade sadly) - Barrel: compensators, suppressors They're impact is equal on every weapon (any variance is set on the attachment, not the weapon). Additionally, all scopes and under barrels fit on all weapons (as far as i know), and whilst barrel attachments do have multiple sizes, they're fundamentally identical. so i didn't feel it played into the video :)
When comparing the FS-9 and the F55 I think it's worth mentioning the F55s "spool up" time, which for me has always been a deal breaker. Furthermore the F55 lacks the ability to equip barrel attachments. Whilst these stats appear to show no benefits to the FS-9 over the F55, they aren't a complete picture
judging by these Stars some of the weapons NEED REBALANCING or RELOAD time and weight should be a factor so heavy assult wepaons should slow you down for instance if you carry a RAIL GUN wearing light armor the trade off minimal but heavy armor and a MISSILE Launcher you should find movement harder each gun needs A MASS WEIGHT and the cargo class of armor should too Mass weight limits on backpacks also should be a thing along with uSCU (volume) and the volume of small items should be scaled when we get refactor eventually maybe MASS for components should become a factor in ship load out eventually too which is how you can have some weapons not be able to be fitted on Gladius for instance if they require more power like rail guns base requirement for pipes etc and you may need to cherry pick your load out so you can't have the best shield and best guns on a light fighter.
Weight is a factor, and heavy weapons do slow you down? Also, the guns do have a mass weight? Thats what the weight stat was for :P Its why i made a comment about the karna being the heaviest weapon. It has the best DPS of the rifles, but it slows you down a lot
yeh def some guns need TOTALLY reworking i use the P4-AR and normally take out NPCs with a triple tap to the noggin or 5 to the chest i prefer the control it gives me with alt fire and it's nice for the Suppressor. Might try out some other weapons the Salvo frag always looked like some weird star trek gun to me, might start using it instead of the coda. I see way to many people using FS9 which really needs to have it's range accuracy balanced it shouldn't be so accurate for long range. be nice if CIG eventually added a shooting gallery or gave us flair like a resetting deployable row of CANs
okay I'm gonna stand here and say it the lumin V is a great SMG I've been using it the most and it fails to fail on me the only draw back in my personal experience is that it's an SMG
I was hoping this would have been pick this one as the best sniper, or this as a pistol etc. Sorry but the graphs complicate choosing the best choice in each category and complicate choosing. While I know it's complicated I wanted a simple best in class with a simple explanation or even demonstration.
Alas, CIG actually did a good enough job at balancing FPS weapons that theres no cut and dry answer! That said, i did try to give a use case for each weapon after covering them in an attempt to try and provide some degree of that. Trust me, if i'd instead just said, for example "C54 is best SMG, P6 is best sniper" my comments section would be full of arguments from people providing anecdotal evidence contrary to everyone else 😂
The S-38 isn't bad, I once cleared out a whole bunker bouty with nothing but a Silenced S-38 and a few mags. (Inventory bugged out, so I was on Lyria without my main gun and grenades. I only had my silenced S-38 and went: "Well fuck it, I'm going In!" I got the FS-9 originally because the Demeco was so hard to get and the spin-up delay (stupid game trope) of the F55 did cause me some trouble on bunker missions. The FS9 immediately spits lead.
One thing i will give CIG credit for is there are no "bad" FPS weapons. They've consistently had a pretty solid balance when it comes to FPS. There are just good weapons and better weapons :) Aye the spool time is a good point i forgot about with the F55
p4 is bad, but free, ravager, bad, but free, when life and death is measured in 0.5s reaction times, ill take free over cost lol ( but enjoy the videos and breakdowns, keep it up)
Aye, thats why i made specific mention about the P4/P8 being very common drops. Wasn't aware the ravager was a common drop, never actually came up against one lol. I wouldn't say it's bad though. For an auto shotgun, yeah it's the worst in class, but its double barrel mode is brutal.
@@RobotSpartan pretty sure its the ravager, may be devastator im the mt bunkers you get p8 with 1x delta reflex and flash hider, p6 with flash suppressor and either a behring 4x optic or pts reflex and the shotgun with pts reflex or nothing, (as a side note the mt heavies with shotgun carry coda ammunition instead of shotgun)
@@cavemanairsoft3921 Did a couple of arccorp bunkers last night and got a couple of ravagers from each, and a devestator so it could be random (plus a karna)
With all the LMG's and Snipers becoming loot only (I have no idea what CIG were smoking that day, as to why not allow the "worst of each class still be purchaseable, and the best loot only...meh who knows). I am using whatever I can find and if your down to next to nothing...entering a bunker with a P4 is still a great option
Good point i should really have mentioned to be honest. I guess in those instances its a case of "if you have x already, dont bother with Y" Do agree that snipers and LMG's being loot only seems a bit backwards. Although i suppose military hardware being available to the general public would be somewhat contentious...
@@Wind_Lord yeah they fixed it with gaffa tape (i.e. cant fire with wrong ammo) rather than stopping you fitting the wrong ammo Though it was certainly fun whilst it lasted!
It's far too situational sadly, which is why i omitted them. Railgun hits harder (by a LOT) in a single hit, but the missiles are, well, missiles, so are much more accurate
Nobody gives a fuck. But if you really wanna know... Best weapon is a prayer not to get hit by a 30k or any other typer of error / slideshow. Thank you for supporting and promoting the number one broken game in gaming history.
So the thing i don't like about your video is you only put up graphs of the weapons, not actual testing them ingame. the whole "alpha" graph is useless, since it won't ever be efficient or even usefull in an fps scenario. Also looking at stats works only if the stats isn't impaired by the user which in this case it is. there's so much more than just comparing stats when it comes to fps weapons.
I sanity test a large sample in game, to make sure that what the numbers in the games files say is in fact accurate. I actually make mention of testing in game a couple times in the video. That said, there's logic behind me doing it this way, namely 3 key reasons: - In game testing requires consistency, which a game like SC cannot offer due to the type of game it is. If there were training dummies (like in most MMO's) then i'd be in full agreement. - Current server and networking stability introduces an issue of hit lag and latency which makes it very near impossible to confirm the number of shots to hit a target to drop it when using another player as a target dummy. - If i was able to somehow test every weapon consistently, this video would be well over an hour long. I actively try to avoid that, because i personally hate needlessly long videos, as do many others. "the whole "alpha" graph is useless, since it won't ever be efficient or even usefull in an fps scenario. "
@@RobotSpartan everytime I heard you talk about alpha it was due to a charge up mechanic on guns, and the charge up mechanic is pretty useless on all guns as it simply takes too long to charge up and the range of the projectile is far lower than the normal firemode. In almost any FPS game, the gun that offers the easiest recoil will be the best gun (unless we are talking snipers). Coming from at game like rust, damage of the gun obviously matter, but is far outshined by recoil control due to how much easiere it is hitting headshots. There was another video showcasing efficiency of guns using another player (although old by now) And I just think it provides a much clearer picture of which gun is the better one. Also from testing in-game the demeco seems like the clear winner of all short - mid range weapons. Due to the damage per. Hit and the ability to literally keep the crosshair on the targets shot almost without any effort. Alot of the time stats and number are fine to get a general idea of DMG and rate of fire. But dps is not always the best indicator of which weapons that best help you get rid of an enemy tho. Since player skills and handling of said weapon comes into play. If this was an mmo like wow than stats would be the only thing that mattered, but not in an fps scenario tho. But I appreciate the thorough explanation and maybe I misunderstood what "alpha" is.
@@RobotSpartan yes it's true that player skills will generally always mitigate recoil, but when it comes down to the whole "gun is heavier therefore you move and turn slower" I personally haven't experienced any gun that I equip that would make me feel that way, the only thing I found that actually has an impact on that is wether I'm wearing light, medium or heavy armor, the weapon haven't mattered at all. And in the wow example of things, yes all that matters is stats, since the game aims for you and the higher stats will always be the thing making your spells do more damage, make you cast faster etc. It is true that with game knowledge you can still do good, but it's I disputeable that you would have done more and better with the better gear since in wow there is no aiming elements since it's tab targeting. And when it comes to PvP then sure you can push to glad with lower than max, but you are impaired and slowed down by the fact that now your skill is the lesser factor coming into play since you risk getting oneshot way too often. My point was wow is basicly a stat stick model of a game where stats are king. And FPS games is all skillbased games where it doesn't matter if you have the shittiest gun if you can consistently hit headshots. Which kinda was my point with the demeco that each shot does more damage, lowest recoil of any gun in the game. You are however correct that in the current state of the game, its way to buggy to make an accurate assessment of any weapon due to desync, hit registration and other issues. Apologies for the messy reply rofl
So, movement speed is kind of weird. Its actually based on the combined weight of everything you are wearing (its why the meta is heavy chest and helmet, light arms and legs). You would need to go over a certain threshold to be slowed, which heavy weapons tend to only do in full medium armour. its why a lot of people used to go for the gallant over the karna for example (even though the karna used to technically be a better weapon before it was nerfed slightly) On the wow thing, i disagree that stats are the be all end all. At a base level, you're completely correct, and they for sure are a huge factor. But i myself have gone into M+ PUG's with other warriors of the near identical ilvl, stats etc and done substantially more DPS than them, which proves to me that knowledge and experience (i.e. pressing the right key at the exact right time) plays a huge part too. Now to be fair, its not the same level, or type, of skill required to get a perfect headshot every time, but player skill does still come into it. That said, i understand the point you were trying to make, and i do agree to an extent. Skill is the single biggest factor in SC, when it comes to just about anything. Alas, it's not really possible for me to factor variables like player skill, so i have to focus on the constants. Its why sites like Erkul exist for example, and what i've provided (or aim to) is just the FPS version of that
NO DISRESPECT , BUTY WHY NOT JUST GET DIRECTLY TO THE POINT , NAME THE ONE GUN THAT YOU THINK IS BEST AND BE DONE WITH IT . YOU SAY ON WITH WHAT YOU WANT , THE TITLE SAYS " WHATS THE BEST FPS WEAPON " ..... SO WHY ALL THE OTHER CHITCHAT , JUST GET TO IT
Because its not as black and white as "this is the best gun", mostly because CIG actually do a solid job of balancing FPS weapons, which makes "the best" extremely situational. The point of the video is to give people the information they need to determine what THEIR best weapon is for a given scenario. Example: I love SMG's, but my friend relies solely on Rifles; my "best weapon" wont be his. Nor will my best SMG be the same in every situation Besides, simply saying "this is the best weapon, use this" is pretty useless. People want to know WHY it's the best. Not really sure what would be a better title unfortunately. "Best FPS weapon for you"? Although that sounds like one of those "you'll never believe number 4!" titles... The other issue is that i have to balance against the TH-cam algorithm, and what people actually search for, more so currently as a new channel 😕
Something i should have made more mentions of: not all weapons are purchasable, some are loot only. When i say "take X not Y", i should really have said "if you have Y, don't bother with X"
As an example, the Salvo is loot only, but coda can be bought.
Totally agree re. the A03, tis why i called it a hybrid. Sorta bridges the gap between the S71 and "proper" snipers
@@RobotSpartanagreed. A03 is not a sniper rifle. It's got the Alpha that you'd expect from the feel of the S71, just the size and handling of a sniper rifle. It's a skill weapon if you prefer semi-auto ARs. Pisses me off that I have to shoot an unarmored opponent in the face twice to drop them (3x for the P4).
i love the A03. it feels like the stalker rifle from halo infinite and that's my favorite gun in that game
This is the de-facto guide to personal weapons in the verse. How did it take me this long to find your channel! Keep on the good work mate!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the Coda, Arrowhead, Gallant and FS-9. Surprised to hear FS-9 not top of the pops, oh well it just feels right.
Pretty much my load out actually; gallant arrowhead and coda, swapping the arrowhead for C54 if i'm going into bunkers, coda for salvo if i find one
(and i do love my gemini weapons)
I was surprised at the FS-9 myself. It used to be much closer to the F55, but i think CIG altered it's alpha damage slightly
@@RobotSpartan appreciate the reply, and i appreciate the time you put in to test all this for everyone.
Cheers!
@@rybuds47 I'm happy to do it, Lets me embrace my inner nerd :P
Much appreciated. It was similar to what I was feeling but I hadn't made a change in my playstyle yet. My biggest change I think is I think I'll have to give the Custodian a try. When I've used SMGs, it's mostly been C54s since they're so common.
Happy to provide :)
I still use the C54 in most situations myself, as i tend to find myself in sub 20m engagements where its better DPS.
Yup, gallant is my go to, or C54 if im doing CQB (i love gemini design)
Incredible video, I will be using this data for ORG events!
Thanks! And glad to hear it will be of some use!
@@RobotSpartan I find tons of Salvo Frags in bunker crates, not sure if the rare part of the salvo cavieat is true

I THINK pistols are more common than other loot drops (i need to dig into it) so salvos will come up more than other uncommon items. However, you'll notice you probably find a lot more arclights etc than salvos
@@RobotSpartan I dont notice many other pistols but Ill chalk that up to rienforcement bias

Silencers make bunker missions so easy as they never know you're there, its great! 😁

Demeco is OP af
to be fair, all the LMG's are OP in close quarters. They just slow you down as they're bulky AF
It sort of already happens with the stamina being tied to heart-rate, and you being slowed when carrying more weight, but would love to see an extension of that
@@MaxaraUD fatigue is already a thing. Carry a heavy loadout, and you'll find your vision getting blurry from the high heart rate.

I also was impressed when I shot a P6 LR and the bullet when through two guys head shotting them both dead.
Great video...assuming your data is correct. (Thanks for linking the spreadsheet, too!) Where did you get the data, especially about damage?
All of the data is pulled directly from the game files, then sanity checked in game to make sure there's no quirks, so its as accurate as can plausibly be.

Pictures of the weapons and where to get them is the only thing I wish your video provided.
Now I need to go search for that info lol 😉
That was changing every patch so i thought it best to avoid that! I did mention what is loot only though :)
I did consider doing a render of every weapon (like i did on the attachments video) but it became a bit excessive. My GPU would have filed a restraining order on me!
This is my current list as of 3.19.1 (September 2023)
Pistols:
SMG:
1. P8-SC with Laser, Suppressor, and 2x Optic - This is my "go-to" bunker gun. Its quiet, easy to control on full auto, and accurate, plus with a good rate of fire. It's also cheap and easy to find.
Rifle:
Sniper Rifle:
Thanks for doing this 👍
Happy to provide :)
Love the fps granular details
Glad they landed as intended :)
Anyone know what "Alpha" is? I couldn't find it explained in the video or online as it pertains to weapons. Thanks.
Alpha is a generic term used in games, most often to describe the amount of damage a single hit does
Actually surprised nothing comes up in a google search. Been a common term (at least, in any game i've played) for longer than i remember 😅
We all appreciate you!
🤗
Might be worth to consider that (at least in PVP) ballistic weapons have the added benefit of being harder to find the shooter at distance
Not so much a factor for an arrowheads single shots, but it's quite easy to locate someone if shooting auto with a laser rifle/lmg
Love your summaries though!!!! 😀
this is true, although with energy having an exponentially higher range, you might be able to get around that!
Nicely done. Was suprised to see the results for th P4-AR. How has it changed since 3.16?
Unchanged since at least 3.13. Other things have moved around since then though. Its not fundamentally bad to be fair, its just a tad behind (sort of 5% across the board).
Side note; i said it was okay in the old vid, but with all the changes, and my FPS experience increasing as well, my opinion on the P4 has changed since then.
P4 has always been a perfectly balanced adequate weapon. It's acceptably mediocre at everything, and it's meant to be a versatile weapon with no particular strengths or weaknesses (like most Behring products)
I am centered around Microtech and I find with the bunker missions in this locale, the pistol I see most of is the Salvo, and I have never seen a Coda, like ever...
bizarrely, the coda seems rarer these days than the salvo for a lot of people (inc. me)
Whats really bizarre is that the salvo is meant to be rare loot, the coda more common!
9:34 isn't the karna an energy rifle as well?
Technically its a plasma weapon (same as the devestator), so they're the only "energy weapons" coded to behave like ballistics :)
I suspect that when they add the damage type, it will be given thermal damage instead of energy
Which is odd, as historically I've always been the other way around 😅
Only exception I make is the side arm, as the LH86 is just all round bad, and the salvo just all round good
liked your video that much I subscribed too!
thanks! 🤗
Recently i just run into bunkers with pistol only, and just pick up what i find. Nice fun challenge especially when the servers are quieter
Noticed a lot more people using the S71 recently i must say...
Dude! Nice video.
Thanks man :)
I wouldn't go so far as to say they suck, as they're not THAT much worse than the competition. Best choice? No. Usable? yes
@@RobotSpartan Got it, got it. Wish they performed more like their big boi comrades.
@@huskygamer5253 I'm, in an odd way, glad they don't. They're insanely common with NPC's (good and bad), so it rewards you in a way for coming prepared, and not having to rely on picking up the enemies weapons
@@RobotSpartan Got it, got it. Well, time for some bunker missions to get some Berhing weapons for the good old pretending to be a Marine feeling.
Aye P6 has been my go to for a long time, especially as we rarely engage at a distance long enough wherein the arrowhead is better
Fs-9 isn't bad by any measure to be clear, just slightly behind 🙂

By that account, a dead player ragdolling at the end of a tractor beam was once my best FPS weapon...
any suggestions due to recent updates?
i went through the numbers a few days ago actually, following a reddit discussion. nothing has changed numbers wise, though something i did forget is the spool time of the LMG's making the FS9 better in CQB

"...but does so at the cost of having the lowest Effective Range of any Weapon in the game. ...To the point that... I'm pretty sure the knife... has a... longer... range, actually."
Sums up why I usually dislike using Shotguns in most FPS games. Except that it feels like it's effective range is only slightly longer than the Knife
Love how you included all my dramatic, thought evoked pauses XD
Same really. Having done clay Pidgeon shooting a fair few times (i think Americans call them skeets?) i can say from experience that shotguns are effective far beyond a few meters. I get its meant to be a balance thing, but there are other ways to do it...
Escape from Tarkov Is suprisngly the best game ever for shotties, they do them realistic and it's amazing.
So now, 1 year later they revamped the weapons. Are you going to do a new list?
Now that lifes being a bit more kind to me, im fully intending to redo a lot of the older videos, and start maintaining my databases again :)
i dont know if you have actually used the fs-9 ingame, but it is by far the best close range weapon. in pvp you out gun both the demco and F-55 close range since the f-55 has to spool up and you dont. it only loses to the demco medium range but if you manage your recoil you still out dps the demco medium range.

Wait so are there no attachments available for fps guns yet?!
there are yes. 3 types exist
- sights: red dot, holo, scope, various zoom levels for each
- under barrel: laser pointers or torches (no grenade sadly)
- Barrel: compensators, suppressors
They're impact is equal on every weapon (any variance is set on the attachment, not the weapon).

This is a very solid point, and something i admittedly forgot to include
I call the salvo frag my "Goodbye Button".
thats a good name if ever i heard one
judging by these Stars some of the weapons NEED REBALANCING or RELOAD time and weight should be a factor so heavy assult wepaons should slow you down for instance if you carry a RAIL GUN wearing light armor the trade off minimal but heavy armor and a MISSILE Launcher you should find movement harder
each gun needs A MASS WEIGHT
and the cargo class of armor should too
Mass weight limits on backpacks also should be a thing along with uSCU (volume)
and the volume of small items should be scaled when we get refactor eventually
maybe MASS for components should become a factor in ship load out eventually too which is how you can have some weapons not be able to be fitted on Gladius for instance if they require more power like rail guns base requirement for pipes etc and you may need to cherry pick your load out so you can't have the best shield and best guns on a light fighter.
Weight is a factor, and heavy weapons do slow you down? Also, the guns do have a mass weight? Thats what the weight stat was for :P
Its why i made a comment about the karna being the heaviest weapon.

Hey, if you got the skill, you can make it work.
riddick could kill a man with a cup
I only had my silenced S-38 and went: "Well fuck it, I'm going In!"
I got the FS-9 originally because the Demeco was so hard to get and the spin-up delay (stupid game trope) of the F55 did cause me some trouble on bunker missions.
The FS9 immediately spits lead.
One thing i will give CIG credit for is there are no "bad" FPS weapons. They've consistently had a pretty solid balance when it comes to FPS. There are just good weapons and better weapons :)
Aye the spool time is a good point i forgot about with the F55
p4 is bad, but free, ravager, bad, but free, when life and death is measured in 0.5s reaction times, ill take free over cost lol ( but enjoy the videos and breakdowns, keep it up)
Aye, thats why i made specific mention about the P4/P8 being very common drops.

That said, there's logic behind me doing it this way, namely 3 key reasons:
- In game testing requires consistency, which a game like SC cannot offer due to the type of game it is.
There was another video showcasing efficiency of guns using another player (although old by now)
And I just think it provides a much clearer picture of which gun is the better one.
*" everytime I heard you talk about alpha it was due to a charge up mechanic on guns, "*
You would need to go over a certain threshold to be slowed, which heavy weapons tend to only do in full medium armour. its why a lot of people used to go for the gallant over the karna for example (even though the karna used to technically be a better weapon before it was nerfed slightly)
On the wow thing, i disagree that stats are the be all end all.
Nor will my best SMG be the same in every situation
Besides, simply saying "this is the best weapon, use this" is pretty useless. People want to know WHY it's the best. Human psychology is weird like that
@@RobotSpartan . I GET IT . BUT YOU SHOULD TRY A DIFFERENT TITLE FROM " WHAT IS THE BEST FPS WEAPON " AS THIS DENOTES THAT A DECISION HAS BEEN REACHED IN ITS ENTIRETY .
I VIEWED THE VIDEO BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA BE A THIS IS IT TYPE VIDEO . AS OPPOSED TO A WHAT IS THE BEST FPS WEAPON FOR THESE CIRCUMSTANCES .
WOULD SAVE ALOT OF TIME FOR PEOPLE LOOKING FOR VIDEOS THAT PROVIDE EXACTLY WHAT THEIR TITLES ELUDE TO . JUST MY 2 CENTS .
I DO NOT THINK YOU SEEK TO MISLEAD , BUT THE TITLE IS MISLEADING AS THERE ARE THOSE OUT THERE THAT APPRECIATE THOSE THAT G ET DIRECTLY TO THE POINT WITH NO WASTED TIME .
THIS BEING SAID I HAVE AN APPRECIATION FOR THE VIDEO YOU POSTED AND I AGREE MANY WANT TO KNOW THE WHY"S . ME I JUST WANT THE DAMN ANSWER ASAP
@@bjornjohhanson9193 That's why i posed the title as a question rather than a statement; "what is the best?" rather than "this is the best", in an attempt to avoid that preconception. Not really sure what would be a better title unfortunately. "Best FPS weapon for you"? Although that sounds like one of those "you'll never believe number 4!" titles...
The other issue is that i have to balance against the TH-cam algorithm, and what people actually search for, more so currently as a new channel 😕
