That is the absolute truth. In 1992, I was not doing very well after being hit by a car and badly injured. The accident happened in 1987, but the injuries were severe. My husband handed me a basset hound puppy who I called The Bonehead. Her actual name was Rappunzel, but I called her Bonehead. She was one of the best things that ever happened to me. She gave me a reason to get up in the morning and to get moving again. I learned what “hounding” someone was. When she wanted a walk, I better get up and do it, or else. That is why I called her “The Bonehead”. She had a head of solid bone, it was her way or the highway. She was beyond stubborn and I loved it. I had had three more basset since and they were all perfect. It is the only breed I now will get.
And no dog that make you feel so happy when they look at you with those sad eyes.

My basset Rufus has a mugshot on an Air Force base in Massachusetts after stealing food from construction workers 👷♂️. Didn’t even run from the MPs. he looked like a stuffed sausage and weighed like a small elephant.
My first dog was a basset. I was 4 years old..i was a brat and the dog should have bit my arm off and beaten me to death with it..but true to their nature..she in turn loved me back..I will always say, basset hounds and children go together like melted ice cream and summertime.
That was a very nice video. My first dog as a boy was a basset hound, her name was Sorry Belle. That was over 50 years ago. I still think of her sometimes.

My dad and I lost our best friend Zander, a Rhodesian ride back the day before my birthday on Father’s Day, a careless teenager was speeding and texting and he died in our arms on the way to the vet, I miss him more than anything

Tears in my eyes. My very best friend was a basset I named Shadow. He suffered from what ever it is that twists their stomach and the second time he passed away. I want another one. You don’t own a basset. They pick you and humans are just the vehicle they get to have the means to give back.

That's why I won't own another dog. My brownie and Blackie passed away decades ago and I still haven't recovered fully. Too hard to let them go. If there is a heaven, and I believe there is, and I make it, I hope they are both there to meet me.

You should have seen my Oreo. She had a black stripe down her nose instead of a white one and had beautiful gold eyes tinged with green. I have never seen eyes like that. She was gorgeous and sweet. I miss her ad her sister Peanut. Peanut was a beautiful brown and white little girl. She loved everybody. If she didn’t like you, you were evil.

I have a pure breed but u should be careful with him and try not to flip them around and don’t let them jump up on things because basset get a thing called bloat which is when there stomach flips upside down and it can kill them

Come December 19, we will have had our Bessie for one year. She was born October 10, 2016, and my wife saw her at 4-5 weeks old. She staked her claim for her and when we got the go ahead from the breeder she picked her up. She is quite a dog! Sweet, stubborn, loving, funny, and just plain cute. This is the third basset for my wife and the first one for me. I can now really see the attraction.

I've had a few basset hounds. Great dogs and great for kids. My most recent one, Dexter, had to be put to sleep last year after he developed a condition called bloat. He was not quite 12 years old.

I love your little basset, I have one as well. He’s a doll baby. I’m so sorry about the loss of your fur babies, that’s so hard. I only have one basset never raised one before and boy has he been something else. Took us 8 months to potty train, they do everything on their own time…lol. We still love him and wouldn’t trade him for anything. Here’s to a new journey with Truman…❤️

Bassets are so CHILL. My boy was just like this: just happy to be LOVED.
He still is a pretty chill until the nail clippers or vacuum comes into play.
Bassets are THE BEST! I hope y'all realize they are not regular dogs. They don't do regular dog things - like fetch and mind. haha But he will be your best friend and sleep in your bed and eat your food, and maybe stink a little. I miss my basset so much. Enjoy him!
We have an oddity here in that Truman absolutely loves to play fetch.

Best surprise ever!!
I just put down my precious Bassett Lady on the 8th. She was seizing in the yard and the vet stated she was no longer herself. We had to out her down the next morning our Doberman was diagnosed with lymphoma of the liver and spleen and has around 2 months. It's so hard to lose our fur babies. I will always want a dobe and Bassett. They got into mushrooms that grew in the yard.
