Each country has their own tax laws in taxing pension such as U.S. Social Security Income. Tax treaty sometimes prevents double taxation, but usually, the country you reside in still can tax income from a foreign pension. So while this video was stated as being applicable to returning to any country--that part is grossly misleading.
After a year in India you become a ordarny resident of india, and will be taxed on global income. You can use foreign tax paid to reduce us tax so no need to move to roth ira as you will be able to claim foreign tax and you will not pay the 10,% early withdrawl
Every body says they want to go back but no body wants actually excuse is kids not cope up with india n fact is even u can't cope up now in india n don't feel sorry about this
Hi, Sanjay, I have been living in US for more than 8.5 yrs, if I want to go back to India, can I get my Social Security money back or be deposited that money into my EPF account in India? I don't have 401K, but even Social Security also, if possible I want to get it back. If there is any possibility please help me, I need your support, I am genuinely thinking to go back, but want to get my SS money back, if there is any possibility.
You cannot get entire social security back in lumpsum, but if you live in US and paid social security for 10 years you’re eligible to get social security benefits from US in your retirement even if you move back.
@@pk3 Only countries with a treaty with the U.S. allows retaining Social Security payout after leaving the U.S. India is not among such country so after 6 months of moving back to India, even if you had more than 10 years and already started collecting social security, the payments will stop.
