Hi There, Thanks for asking! Many blanking dies are hand cut, and others are laser cut. This is a great process that can help jewelers create custom shapes for their work. HI, Richard. I make the dies, and do custom work. This type of die started out as the 'RT Blanking System' , and that was a kit sold by Rio in the late 1980's and 1990's. Here is the original RT paper written by Roger Taylor and published in 1980.
