Can you imagine what the bill would be to the 300 acre farmer up the road? That old man's house was just shy of one mile back from the rural-road-turned-hiway! My friend was a retired National Guard Engineer, he found a way around some of the expenses having Service buddies with civilian contractor businesses, but the balance screwed his younger daughter's college fund. The farmer? He'd planned to leave what WAS his great-grandfather's farm to his grandson ( whom had grown up on it and was studying Ag Science to be qualified to take it over ). He ended up selling. The land being zoned R1, it wasn't worth squat. Now see how the method worked... The new taxes and ordinances forced sales at low value and often sacrifice sells. Developers ( mostly from out of State, but contributors to politicians involved ) had checks on demand. Quick sales. Once acquired, wider roads were put in ( at taxpayer expense ). With roads turned into hiways, the same county officials rezoned the developer's worthless rural land into commercial, thus making millionaires with the sweep of a pen, and the strip malls went in. But that's only the road frontage.... Land further back became housing subdivisions, which the State level crooks advertised to deep blue New York City. Thus, gerrymandering Red Districts into Blue. The last step? In the State's northernmost ( and most redeveloped county) after the new buildings were sold off, rezoning began yet again, with a doubling of taxes at each level. Ex: If you owned a home zoned rural, you were now residential (twice as much tax as rural) but residential had also doubled. So now your taxes went up 4x with the sweep of a pen. The most affected being the elderly on fixed income, and lower working class families living in what had been their parents or grandparents houses. Many of them had to move. Some of these same crooks, are now in Congress.
What did American and Australian Politicians expect. We gave them all our industry and then wonder how they got so powerful...rrrmm oh and don't forget let them buy land, houses. Oh lets also give them free postage so they can take over the internet business too. Greedy Politicians Greedy Companies
