OMG. Joseph, you always have me laughing with your analogies. I was opening a bottle of wine when you said "You mean like brown people?". I almost dropped the bottle. And then Nick's sigh and look on his face was priceless. Joseph trying to trick Nick with the not recording part but Nick notices everything and remembers everything. Also, Nick is almost zen-like in his ability to avoid being thrown off his focus by Joseph (who also has his own superpower of possessing an infinity of facial expressions to register various degrees of "thoroughly unimpressed" )

The first season of "Sense 8" is the greatest work from the Wachowskis, in my opinion. A real masterpiece. I do like where they are going most of the time, even when I don't like the finished films. I feel like the "John Cassavetes/Mike Leigh meets sci-fi" of "Sense 8" was mixed with a lot of François Truffaut in "The Matrix Ressurrections". Of all the films I thought a Matrix 4 could share DNA, I never thought "Love on the Run" would be one.

Hmmm…I have been waiting for this all year. I signed up for HBOMAX in January so I could watch this at home. I set my alarm for 3am last night so I could watch it the minute it was available to stream. So, I’m a fan. Oy vey. As a fan I was disappointed. I even fell asleep an hour into it. I woke up this morning, finished watching it, and had a couple of thoughts. 1. Why was Christina Ricci only in it for, a minute or 2. 2. Why did it take 2/3 of the film before Trinity was woken up 3. It didn’t seem like a Matrix film. 4. Way too many characters that could have been consolidated into fewer characters and wtf was up with Jada Pinket Smith? She was ridiculous. They should have hired an actress that was the age of that character. I’m going to re-watch it, but considering how much I was looking forward to this and I fell asleep does not boost my confidence that I’ll enjoy it more on my second viewing. I have more thoughts on it but blah blah blah 🤷♀️
Let me just say Keanu Reeves is VERY handsome. But, I have never understood Matrix movies and I know I Am in the minority here. However, since it’s on HBOMAX I will watch. But, my hopes are not high.
Agree 100% about Keanu Reeves… as for the Matrix movies. I liked the first one. I couldn’t sit though the second and third movie, they didn’t interest me as the first one. I am still going to give this one a chance and watch it :)

I liked being back in this world again. Think it lulls you to sleep in the middle and the fight scenes aren't as great. It takes Neo forever to realize/regain his abilities but trinity can kick ass as soon as she switches from Tiffany.
This film is a huge disappointment for me…

Joseph you are a complete fool! Your reactions to Nick explaining Matrix 4 was hysterical! Trust me, as hard as it was to follow what Nick was saying about this convoluted mess, it was that much worse watching it. I hated this film. I actually didn't even finish it.

It's simple, first, you take out the green tone of being in a computer version of reality, then you bring back Niobe but Morpheous he's dead. I mean you could have had the new Morpheous that Neo coded, and still got back to IO and saw the real older version of Morpheous. He could have made fun of the coded version made by Neo, that would have been an acceptable kind of humor. And then worst of all, the whole point of Neo is that he is stronger and faster than the computer. Back in the original Matrix, that was the point that Morpheous made to Neo, when he told him, "They (the agents, computer) can never be as fast and strong as you can be", but here comes NPH the new computer program and he wipes the floor with Neo, but of course, Trinity smacks him like a toddler in the last scene, showing that she is in control, unlike Neo that could not move, and was being touched in the face like a chump, and played with by the new computer program NPH. Maybe in the last scene, Neo should first have come in at the end and slapped NPH in the face a few times, just to set things right, but no he could not even save Trinity in the Matrix from the bullet shot by NPH. The point is the storyline is good, but don't sacrifice Neo's abilities, just share them with Trinity, I'm good with that, but don't Emasculate him and expect the movie to be good. Not nice.
Thanks for another fun review! They just made the story SOOOOOOOO convoluted. When you think of it, the first movie really was pretty simple, that's what made it so great. I was 17 when I first saw the Matrix. When my best friend and I returned from the theatre that night, we were so amped up we "reenacted" action scenes from the movie. (Really, we were just doing half-assed cartwheels and punching the air in the front yard). My dad finally stepped out on the porch, told my friend to go home and told me to go to bed cuz he didn't want the neighbors to think his kid was weird.
For the plot hole about the appareances, I have understood it differently. Neo can see her as Trinity, she can see him as Neo. The proof? She understood the character of the game was him and she finds that Trinity looks like here, she even tells Neo that. Her husband laughed at the idea but she does think she looks like her. Therefore she surely sees Neo as himself and not as the old man. No?
I agree. That was my interpretation as well.

It has problems, but if you give yourself over to the show it’s a lot of fun. Definitely worth a watch.
I’ve been hoping some other streaming service (maybe HBOmax) would pick it up and give the story an actual ending.. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Hi you two! Just got back from seeing this. I had fun. I enjoyed hearing Lana's voice loud and clear. Poking fun at literally everything LOL. The Agent Smith twist was brilliant. I loved Neil and Jonathan. Yahya was fun too. Nostalgia yes, but it felt good to visit that world again.
I tried to get into the Matrix movies way back when, but I just couldn't get into them. I always figured I just wasn't smart enough!
I'm thinking about giving them another shot now that I'm older and wiser but I don't know!

The first Matrix film put me to sleep and I don't really have any interest in the subsequent three. Like I know it's a Trans allegory centered on an everyman but watching it just feels like diving down an incel propaganda rabbit hole

I was so excited to learn David Mitchell was a co writer for the script! It had a lot of his classic sassiness in the writing. Plus it was great to see him working with Lana again since Cloud Atlas! I hope they continue to create awesome new movies.
Slade House or The Bone Clocks would make such a cool movie.
I missed Mega City from the old matrix trilogy. It felt like it was more original in character of a fictional setting.

Joseph had me so damn weak at "You mean brown people?". It's 2am and I just finished watching the film. The cgi and slow mo scenes were so CRINGE 😬. They could have kept this whole movie. They had Jada FUCKED UP 😂🤣
I saw the original in theaters and loved it the first time. It’s appeal has worn off on repeat viewings. Just way too freaking over complicated and confusing. This one sounds like more of the same.
