Please try to attend your child's graduation and family day. If that is not a possibility please write them as much as possible. You have no idea what it's like walking out into the bay on family day to hundreds of smiling faces and none of them are for you. Also if you have a bro/sis who doesn't have family show up invite them to be with you and yours.

When my brother graduated basic his buddy Bahn didn't have anyone show up because his family lived across the country and couldn't afford it. So we adopted him for the day. He was deployed right after getting done with training, and when he came back he stayed with us for a week. He's a part of the family pretty much.

Watching this at AIT and looking back at how nervous I was. For anyone going to basic training nowadays there's really nothing to worry about. As long as you don't give up, you'll make it. There was a girl that fell out of every single ruck minus the forge, and failed every single ACFT. She still passed on time and is now moving on to AIT. She failed at just about everything but didn't quit, and she still passed. Just don't be an ass and you'll be alright

Im leaving for basic in 7 days and I was so scared about getting recycled if I fail something because I'm not in shape at all. Like I can't even remember the last time I worked out. But reading this comment definitely makes me feel a lot more confident. Thank you.

@@emilytran4199 don't think they won't recycle you if you fail, if they don't see potential in you, they'll throw in another company as long as it takes to get you to pass, we had a dude in my company that had been recycled so much he ended up being there 18 months total and was placed in our company to finally graduate.

Just be quiet and follow your battle buddies if you aren't sure what to do. Don't ask questions about what while happen unless you get permission. Do not talk in defak. Remember chain of command. Use situational awareness 24/7. Remember the Army values and Soldier Creed. DO NOT GET CAUGHT SLEEPING. aaron albert It all depends on what you’re MOS is? There’s only 5 basic training places in the US. Benning Georgia, Leonard Wood Missouri, Sill Oklahoma, Knox Kentucky, and Jackson South Carolina. I was Infantry so I went to Benning for Basic and AIT combined. 13+ weeks straight without a break. Oops 1 day break just before graduation where they took our company to Atlanta to watch a Falcons football game. Nowadays, basic training is a cream puff where you get time off between phases.

The Army i joined in July of 1959 was very different than the present one. We did not have any pre basic prepping, we did not pay for meals and our uniforms...or any everyday equiptment. Later on in my perm unit in Panama we did pay $2 a month for KP and to have our shoe wear maintained.
We recieved a minimal uniform allowence, overseas pay .promotions come with time in grade with grades allowed in the mos . For instance a tank driver is a E-5.....squad leader E6, team leader E5 most rifleman E3 or Spec 4. Airbourne active an additional $50 a month.

Boys and girls, I remember the first day of basic training with vivid, terrified clarity. Phase 1 they called it, followed by 2 and 3. By the way, no battle buddies in 1983. The setting: gravel parade ground, 5 barracks, 2 latrines, 1 mess hall, and a community barracks with a pool table, a stereo, and a few posters. It wasn't much, but by the third week, we thought it was Las Vegas. We got dropped for EVERYTHING. We didn't put our headgear together fast enough, we didn't help each other without being told, we didn't stow away our gear... EVERYTHING. We found out how many push-ups there were in a day. Almost forgot: for the first week, they dared us to drink anything but milk or water.

Its taken a bit longer for a medical waiver and a juvenile offense (17 years ago). But my recruiter has got my papers lined up. Super exited. Iam on the older side. An hopefully can help out younger soldiers. long story short i would like to help if i can in vlogs. But first things first. Thanks again!

      @johnlove3461 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have a buddy of mine that i went through basic with in June 2017, He was prior service Marine Corps as a Corpsman. He told me from his personal experience that Marine Corps Basic Training is Alot more Difficult due to the fact its overtly more physical. i.e 10 Pull ups in 2 minutes, 100 Crunches in 2 minutes, and a 15:36 2 Mile run for his age group. The Army Physical Fitness test has nothing on the marine corps physical. also Training is alot more intense for Marine Corps recruits, The DI's are alot more unrestrained, due to different Tradoc policy's on how they can treat you. Hope it helps.

Can you stay out of trouble and maintain discipline for seven years? If the answer is yes, then you will be a credit to the service.

No evil in early planning. If you know what is needed to achieve your goals and are able and willing to do what it takes, then glory to your spunk. Keep your education on track and stay out of trouble.

I live in houston & I ship out tomorrow, Jan. 7th to Ft. Benning, Georgia. Airborne Infantry 11B. I’ve heard basic sucks but I’m very excited with this next step in my life.

I noticed that you assume that every religion is covered by “church”. As a Wiccan who has gone through BCT the year after you I can positively say there is a distinct lack of non-Christian based religion in the military

In Parris Island there was a whole rainbow of Christianity and then there was Judaism which was confined into a room smaller than most personal bathrooms.
It’s odd how Islam isn’t there but Judaism of all things is.

The best video! Thank you for getting to the point and keeping it that way! In the part of PT @8:45; they separate you into the group that is at the same fitness level at you? You like an Officer lol What is the perception of a 33 year old joining? I lived my 20's out partying and living life and now I am ready to do join.

I'm joining (hopefully) early next year at 27. I lost about 30 lbs so far and all I gotta do now is remove some hand tattoos and I'm gold. It's somewhat comforting to know I won't be the only "old man" surrounded by kids haha.

I joined at age 31. Went in as 11X. My basic was an experimental class. All Special Forces and Ranger contracts, with the exception of a few National guardsmen. We had Red, White, Blue, Black and Gold phase. I'd say a good 30% of us were over 30. You'll get some comments here and there about your age, but for the most part the older guys had more discipline. It was a great experience.

Cierra Baybiee that is so nice of you! My 17 year old son just left for basic at Fort Leonard Wood, and I won’t be able to be there at family day, or graduation. I’m a single Mama with other kiddos still at home, so it just won’t happen! I hope there is someone there who is as kind hearted as you! ♥️
