Hi, I had the same problem on my chain, 350 I'm building, so I ordered a roler chain... Like your videos! Keep it up!

Good point to make to these guys watching.
I've always built watercooled VW, sbc/4.3v6/vw diesels. 50% of the time all of the bearings check out. Always order 1 extra bearing shell.

I’ve watched your videos over and over for a year or two. I bought a short bed Silverado with a 305 (i think) after getting it to start, I’m getting ready to check compression. What should I look for besides the 20psi variance? Example: cracks

Hi Ivan , Visual inspections , leaks etc. You can verify the engine with the block #s on the rear behind the driver side cylinder head , may need to use a mirror. How does it run overall?

Wow I just done the same engine with same pistons my 305 was bored to .030 and out of 10 boxes of Hastings and 1 box of sealed power which I went with I had a ring gap top at .023 and second almost the same for my hypereutectic pistons

My machinist went alittle happy on my bores! So I ended up calling uem about it having .023’a for my ring gap

Question: do I have to check the ring gap of every ring in the kit or would it be enough to check 2 or 3 of them and if they fit, one can assume that all the rings in the set have the same?

No , i still randomly check but it is a good habit as we cant depend on the consistency of our parts it seems.

Awesome , we just did a rebuild on a TBI 350 that has a bunch of info and this 305 is going together this week , more video's to come.

You didn't show when installing the rings that the gaps are supposed to be offset and not in line relative to all of them. Just a little detail to bring to any ones attention, otherwise good video.

interesting building a 305 not that there's anything particularly wrong with one after all they are small block Chevy. But they were a pollution and economy engine and the bore an cylinder head flow will always hender potential. However I do understand being poor so if a 305 is what you got to start with and money is an object go ahead and build it.
