Tony emphasizes the importance of rigging the bait perfectly straight on a, and what characteristics make a jig a good one to pair with a swimbait. He tops off the content with a true Mille Lacs giant smallmouth, showcasing the multispecies effectiveness of a jig and soft body swimbait for all predator fish.

I've always got a swimbait and a jig on the deck of my boat. Those are the 2 most versatile baits out there.

Big Bites makes a great color and profile paddle-tails. Throw it on a football head jig and keep it on the rocks and you’ll crush them!

Now what types of heads work best and should I NOT Texas rig one?! Giant dirty water lake in East TN and they have hit on tons of different kinds of swimbaits, just trying to understand a little better. What weight head/size hook should I use for each size swimbait, etc. etc.
    Thanks in advance!

I texas rig em weedless fishing shallow brush and cover. Could also fish em on the bottom or swim em shallow on a 1/8 Oz jighead with 3 or 4/0 hook. Heavier jigheads the deeper you fish. They are so very versatile.

Longer shanks really hard to find in stores. Suggestions for a source?

Shop terminal tackle at Tackle Warehouse. They have an expansive assortment of jigs catered to the bass market...longer shanks for threading on plastics like swimbaits, worms, etc.

Could you fish this in like 20 to 30 foot of water

Absolutely, just increase the weight of your jig head if need be. For example, going from 1/8-ounce to 1/4 or even 3/8-ounce in deeper water. Just need to get the bait to depth efficiently and keep it where it belongs. Wind is a big factor here as well.
