- GMC Motorhome commercial showing the motorhome we live in during its glory days. RV living in a vintage GMC motorhome may seem crazy to many people. I have been told I am a fool for motorhome living in a vehicle that is 40 years old. I have also been told that it is foolish to put my money into something this age.
Well I answer my critics with this video despite my motorhome being 40 years old it is better built than the RV products out there today. I hope you enjoy this retro promo video for the GMC motorhome.

This RV is one of the few that will actually hold or increase its value over time, if properly cared for. Parts are still easy to find and it gets better gas mileage than the new ones. I've got one and I LOVE it.
I can hear everything flying out of the cupboards during that test run! LOL! And my wife SCREAMING!
mike laudenslager Yeah I think a pre move in test run is best for ones relationship.
With all the throwback things today,this should be one. A modern drivetrain and interior and you would have probably the best RV out there. Good Luck in your Travels

My late husband and I bought a 1974 chevy malibu in 1989 - it was a tank - had it for another 15 years - couldn't find a mechanic to who could work on the old carburator...so yes, they don't build stuff as well today...

I would say most of that video is accurate.But staging bump bars however can be manipulated to make one vehicle look smooth and another look terrible just by changes in bar spacing and differences in wheelbase. Love the cocktail music too lol

By this video, I would take another look at the brake line replacement on those rear wheels because it looks like that rubber hose Y below air bag was there for a purpose (See at 8 minute mark that the hoses flex as the suspension works against the airbag).. If it was replaced by solid metal lines, well it won't belong before the constant flexing as the suspension works BREAKS THEM.... NO BRAKES.....
Balistic45 They were not solid medal. The replacement hoses are braided stainless steel with a nylon coating.
Oh Man what a flashback. That video spoke to me. It said "You remember all this stuff so you're older than Jame's RV." Maybe I need a mechanical overhaul too.

WOW! The only possible motorhome better than the GMC is the REVCON which was several years ahead of GM with the Toronado FWD, lighter and even MORE maneuverable! GMCs are sure nice looking if they just didn't have the sagging problem. (Revcons never sag because they are aluminum riveted construction like Airstreams).

nice video. love the old style and in usa most states are kinder to the vehicles unlike uk who put salt on the roads in winter that just eats the metal ... so dont worry about what people think its if your happy ? cheers from uk

Although the soundtrack was reminiscent of adult films of the era, that was a very interesting presentation. Personally, I think you are smart for recycling your GMC. It has what you need, handles well, and components are still available. Couple that with the allure of a classic coach, and the added cachet that it belongs to your channel, you will have no problems, should you ever decide to sell. Why not be comfortable?

Sorry. I meant if one is going to buy an RV, one should be comfortable and buy the GMC, which has a great ride, handling and lots of room for 2. I probably should have said that in the first place.
You've been listening to other people, for what reason? I'm over 40 and hope I've still got a lot of life left in me. GMC vans were built much better than anything on the market today. They were built back in the day when things were still being built in the USA, 'nuf said.

3:31 MMMMmmmm... Wow. "A larger engine than that of the biggest selling motorhome on the market..." Yea. 455 cubic inches compared to 454 cubic inches. A whopping 0.2% difference (Not 2%. 0.2%.) Tells you everything you need to know about advertising people.
That said, the footage at 3:35 probably convinced a lot of folks to buy a GMC - and most of those still unconvinced were probably RUNNING to GMC dealerships and RUNNING away from Winnebago dealerships when they saw 3:58 - for good reasons!

Anti lock brakes and a modern fuel efficient engine and a few other improvements any you are in the top of the line. Who needs all that fluff they sell in the big rvs?
