The last Wagner Wear cast iron that was made was in 1959. The years they were made go from 1891-1959. So, your skillet could be even older than 61 years old. Such a excellent gift. I have my husband's Mother's cast iron skillet. I never got to meet her, she died before we met. The deep skillet is a chicken fryer! I got one. Love it for chicken, it allows you to use enough oil without shlashing it out when you turn the pieces. 👍
@@thepressleygirls you can actually bring the grease half way up the pieces so you don't get that white doughy line around the pieces. We eat a lot of fried chicken in this appalachian household, I might even fight for my skillet! 🤭🤣

So glad Core got some cast iron for her new house!! I bet that cost a load to ship. About rocks, I saw some amethyst crystals that came from a mine not to far away that had inclusions in the crystals that contained water with one small bubble in each inclusion. So weird. I didn't even know that rocks could have inclusions with water and air in them. You could only see the water because of the small air bubbles when you moved the rock around. Do you know if this water will remain over time? I didn't know if maybe the amethyst was permeable enough for this water to evaporate, as these crystals had just been pulled out of a mine. Loved the sound of the music mixing with the sound of the creek. They compliment each other so well. Y'all should record some songs on the bank of the creek. Such a peaceful sound. Another absolutely delightful "Day in the Life" video. You're fortunate to have a benefactor like Turtle who sends you beautiful cast iron cooking utensils. I inherited an "in the house" Dutch oven from my mom, like the one Corie received for her soon-to-be new home. They last forever, and produce lots of really good comfort food along the way. An occasional wild cottontail drops by to nibble at my lawn, too. Katie's jasper reminded me that I once lived about 20 miles from a tiny community (much smaller than Brasstown) named Jasper -- after the mineral. It was a nice surprise to hear Corie pick a few bars of Under the Double Eagle.

I use a Wagner from the turn of the century (19th to 20th) that was handed down to my husband's mother from her mother-in-law. It is awesome and seasoned like glass. That is a precious gift.
You know what I loved about this video? When Katie surprised her parents with the hat, Tipper had a big smile on her face. I've noticed she doesn't smile often in the videos. I just think its her nature, nothing more, but I enjoyed seeing this spontaneous smile😃😊😀
“Slab it and Cab it!” Katie’s official motto 🤣 That Ocean Jasper is gorgeous in the slab but incredible when cabbed! The orbs really stand out as super unique. We have a place like the Screen Door here called The Barn, they have about 6 different shops and a country restaurant all together, one shop is outside and all garden stuff, including plants and vintage pots, another is all antique FANCY furniture, another is clothes, another is housewares, and another is a tea shop. I’m sure I’m missing stuff cause it can be hours to get through especially if you eat there, I always do! I love cast iron, know y’all do to, I scored 28 pieces of cast iron for $20 at a flea market, still haven’t finished seasoning them all, some are REALLY old, some have wood handles. Love cooking over fire with cast iron!

That was such a nice present, Corie. I had never heard of Wagner cast iron, and now knowing how old it is, I love how it was so well cared for. Looks brand new. And that's a cool rock that Katie got. It's so big you can make a heck of a lot of jewelry from it. It may not be fancy, but Cracker Barrel is my favorite restaurant. I get something there every Saturday. I've never heard of feeding gravy to chickens. 😂 But they seemed to like it. Love the video as always.

I love this video! My mouth was watering looking at the grapes. That cast iron will last you forever, my cast iron is probably my most prized possessions. My Mom got mine at yard sales over the years and it’s priceless to me🥰
There are many things I love about your videos one is that U love Appalachia my mother was from johnson city Tennessee and she did everything She could to distance herself from the south lost her accent etc etc but when we went to visit her parents and family i loved it they were So nice and relaxed and 😊just fun to be with I never wanted to go back north but after a week or so we will head back at grammas. we had a real breakfast ham or sausage eggs biscuits gravy my eyes must’ve been as big as saucers I never saw breakfast like that and back home we had A nice bowl of cold cereal and lunch was a sandwich at grandmas we had a full meal that was dinner not lunch and in the evening we had supper oh that was so good seven days a week now back home we didn’t have supper we had dinner never Any biscuits I don’t think my mom knew how to make them.

I've got some of those same cast iron cookware by Lodge. The stew pot with the handle and lid is great for cooking things in a campfire. Just lay it on the coals and brush some up around the sides.

Asheville went downhill bad… drug use out in the open and sketchy people everywhere. Not into the woke city either. I was so disappointed when we went and I swore I would never go back. As a Christian too I felt such a bad spirit. Now I am speaking of the downtown area. Tired to eat at the bbq place but there is no parking so we just left. I do love the forest in the area. The farmers market wasn’t to bad. Your video was definitely better than are trip! As always love to see you guys and even though I am not into Asheville I enjoyed the video. Trasheville, much like Trashville. All you do from TN to NC is add an E. Cities now are a festering boil on the behind of mankind. The disconnect from reality is frightening. They're alright for a quick visit and that's about all.
I used to love to go to Asheville back in the 70s and 80s especially the Asheville Speedway. Downtown Asheville started downhill in the 90s with all the northerners moving in and it's become a cesspool in my opinion. It's now hippie town and crackhead city.

My Mom gave me a full set of cast iron frying pans back in 1967 when I got married. I also bought a chicken fryer later on so I have some nice pans that I have always used.
Haha Katie is a lot of fun! She was rockin that fox hat! And that’s the way you skin them when you are selling hides. You save the nose, ears, eyes… the skin over their paws and tail etc. It takes a little time and work to skin one right and not tear one up. Ain’t trapped much lately but I have always thought a otter was a really pretty hide! Really deep chocolate brown color and thick short hair. Stores like the one where y’all found the rock can turn up anything sometimes, always keep my eyes open… shoot I found a old pony cart in real nice shape at a place similar one time..! And Cories new iron cookware… somebody was lookin after y’all! Oh and Happy Birthday to y’all’s mama! (My Grandma had a August birthday too, the 8th… she was alot like Tipper in similar ways and she was very very special to me as well!)
Piqua (pick-wah) is just up the road from us in southwest Ohio. Named from Fort Pickawillany. A large number of native Americans lived in the area. The Ohio and Erie Canal went through here and there is an historic area named Johnson Farm that has a working canal boat. Col. Johnson worked with the native Americans. Piqua got its named from the native Americans. Just down the road (and the Miami River) is Troy, OH. On south is Dayton and Miamisburg which has a rich Appalachian heritiage in bluegrass music. Many folks from Kentucky and West Virginia came north to work in the steel and auto plants.

So glad Core got some cast iron for her new house!! I bet that cost a load to ship. About rocks, I saw some amethyst crystals that came from a mine not to far away that had inclusions in the crystals that contained water with one small bubble in each inclusion. So weird. I didn't even know that rocks could have inclusions with water and air in them. You could only see the water because of the small air bubbles when you moved the rock around. Do you know if this water will remain over time? I didn't know if maybe the amethyst was permeable enough for this water to evaporate, as these crystals had just been pulled out of a mine. Loved the sound of the music mixing with the sound of the creek. They compliment each other so well. Y'all should record some songs on the bank of the creek. Such a peaceful sound. Another absolutely delightful "Day in the Life" video. You're fortunate to have a benefactor like Turtle who sends you beautiful cast iron cooking utensils. I inherited an "in the house" Dutch oven from my mom, like the one Corie received for her soon-to-be new home. They last forever, and produce lots of really good comfort food along the way. An occasional wild cottontail drops by to nibble at my lawn, too. Katie's jasper reminded me that I once lived about 20 miles from a tiny community (much smaller than Brasstown) named Jasper -- after the mineral. It was a nice surprise to hear Corie pick a few bars of Under the Double Eagle.

We have a place like the Screen Door here called The Barn, they have about 6 different shops and a country restaurant all together, one shop is outside and all garden stuff, including plants and vintage pots, another is all antique FANCY furniture, another is clothes, another is housewares, and another is a tea shop. I’m sure I’m missing stuff cause it can be hours to get through especially if you eat there, I always do!
I love cast iron, know y’all do to, I scored 28 pieces of cast iron for $20 at a flea market, still haven’t finished seasoning them all, some are REALLY old, some have wood handles. Love cooking over fire with cast iron!

The Pressley Girls for music, yes, but I know why Katie bought that big rock. I own a pair of her garnet cab earrings. They're my favorites now! Garnet's my birthstone. My goodness, that sphere jasper is pretty. You videos are teaching me so many things, like I knew chickens could eat most kitchen scraps but I had no idea they'd eat gravy. I love this video! My mouth was watering looking at the grapes. That cast iron will last you forever, my cast iron is probably my most prized possessions. My Mom got mine at yard sales over the years and it’s priceless to me🥰
There are many things I love about your videos one is that U love Appalachia my mother was from johnson city Tennessee and she did everything She could to distance herself from the south lost her accent etc etc but when we went to visit her parents and family i loved it they were So nice and relaxed and 😊just fun to be with I never wanted to go back north but after a week or so we will head back at grammas. we had a real breakfast ham or sausage eggs biscuits gravy my eyes must’ve been as big as saucers I never saw breakfast like that and back home we had A nice bowl of cold cereal and lunch was a sandwich at grandmas we had a full meal that was dinner not lunch and in the evening we had supper oh that was so good seven days a week now back home we didn’t have supper we had dinner never Any biscuits I don’t think my mom knew how to make them.

I've got some of those same cast iron cookware by Lodge. The stew pot with the handle and lid is great for cooking things in a campfire. Just lay it on the coals and brush some up around the sides.

Asheville went downhill bad… drug use out in the open and sketchy people everywhere. Not into the woke city either. I was so disappointed when we went and I swore I would never go back. As a Christian too I felt such a bad spirit. Now I am speaking of the downtown area. Tired to eat at the bbq place but there is no parking so we just left. I do love the forest in the area. The farmers market wasn’t to bad. Your video was definitely better than are trip! As always love to see you guys and even though I am not into Asheville I enjoyed the video. Sorry to be a negative Debby downer lol!

Trasheville, much like Trashville. All you do from TN to NC is add an E. Cities now are a festering boil on the behind of mankind. The disconnect from reality is frightening. They're alright for a quick visit and that's about all.
I used to love to go to Asheville back in the 70s and 80s especially the Asheville Speedway. Downtown Asheville started downhill in the 90s with all the northerners moving in and it's become a cesspool in my opinion. It's now hippie town and crackhead city.

Haha Katie is a lot of fun! She was rockin that fox hat! And that’s the way you skin them when you are selling hides. You save the nose, ears, eyes… the skin over their paws and tail etc. It takes a little time and work to skin one right and not tear one up. Ain’t trapped much lately but I have always thought a otter was a really pretty hide! Really deep chocolate brown color and thick short hair. Stores like the one where y’all found the rock can turn up anything sometimes, always keep my eyes open… shoot I found a old pony cart in real nice shape at a place similar one time..! And Cories new iron cookware… somebody was lookin after y’all! Oh and Happy Birthday to y’all’s mama! (My Grandma had a August birthday too, the 8th… she was alot like Tipper in similar ways and she was very very special to me as well!)

Piqua (pick-wah) is just up the road from us in southwest Ohio. Named from Fort Pickawillany. A large number of native Americans lived in the area. The Ohio and Erie Canal went through here and there is an historic area named Johnson Farm that has a working canal boat. Col. Johnson worked with the native Americans. Piqua got its named from the native Americans. Just down the road (and the Miami River) is Troy, OH. On south is Dayton and Miamisburg which has a rich Appalachian heritiage in bluegrass music. Many folks from Kentucky and West Virginia came north to work in the steel and auto plants.
