  • Hello everybody! Last week, I was at the Northwest Congress in Blackpool, and thought it would be interesting to get some other people's opinions for my channel! I took the time to ask some leaders at the congress what they thought the most important quality in a follower would be, and I've put them together for you!
    Check out my previous video, where I asked followers what they think about the leaders: • Rasa Asks: What Is The...

    The 3 most important things from a follower for me would be:
    1- Rhythm. I hate when my partner goes faster than the music. You may start dancing On 2, after a minute On 3 and then On 7 😆 😅
    2- Being present and paying attention to my lead to create good connection.
    3- Not trying to back lead or guessing what the move is.

    1st thing: Connection, through resistance/tension. So you can both FEEL each other. Next and most important, best1st lesson for follows...WAIT!

    I tried Afro with Jeydikson once, so much energy i couldnt keep up 😂 was like a whole evening of bachata dancing in one hour.
    I agree that a great follower is someone who: Follows, Connect and Show her personality through love for the music and styling.

    as a man, the most important thing for a follower is to follow (provided your leading is good) and not do her own thing because she learnt it that way. this is important especially for beginners

    wonderful, smile and connection - question how does the lead stop doing the same moves again and again?

    • @DanceWithRasa
      @DanceWithRasa  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a common thing that happens 😊. I'll try to actually make a video where I demonstrate 😉.

    Backleading by followers is something that really gets on my nerves.
    Another one would be trying to teach the leader how to lead in the middle of the dance. If the leader is leading a move wrong wait until the dance is over and then give the feedback.

    Oof, Vincent, dude, really?
    You literally say: "the move is initiated", and then you follow with "just go for it, no matter what the move is"?
    That's literally contrary to what social partner dance should be. Follower ALWAYS has option to not finish/execute the move initiated by a leader, cause this is a dance, a conversation, not a Muppet show. Not cool, dude.
    Followers, please, ALWAYS feel free to resist my lead - it's my job to listen and adjust it!
    Barrington basically the same! 😂
    Gosh this video started baaadly 😅 "Just follow everything and smile", said two men, lol. Guys, it tells a lot about you 😂

    • @DanceWithRasa
      @DanceWithRasa  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is no need to insult. Not everybody needs to have high expectations, and it's enough to see a follow enjoys it 😉.
      Vincent means that he enjoys ladies who let him lead 😇.

      You come across as very sexist in your remarks against men. Leaders can be females too. Would that have made it easier for you to accept? The follower does have the option to resist and not complete a move, but the topic of this discussion is "what is one thing you need/like from a follower". Keep your prejudices in check

    • @anyaj5435
      @anyaj5435 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FleetingDream755 prejudices? This is safety thing, what if leader executes lead wrong or gropes follower? Follower should do the move even if it hurts or injures them?
      This is partner dance, not dictatorship. The comment you are responding is not sexist.
      Notice how in this video higher level leaders said 'connection'.

    • @FleetingDream755
      @FleetingDream755 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@anyaj5435 there's also safety thing for the follower too. Followers grope a lot too and get creepy, but somehow that's more tolerated. The point is, don't use sexist terms like men do this, etc. Say leaders or followers.

    • @anyaj5435
      @anyaj5435 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FleetingDream755 , don't try to twist original comment. Comment mentions what two leaders who are men said, there is nothing sexist in writing it as it is "two men shared such opinion".
      Your 'whataboutism' is not in place here. We are discussing followers safety, you can create post about appropriate conduct and lead by example by respecting everyone's right on the dancefloor to take care of their safety and be comfortable. The original comment was that follower has a right for a voice and a choice.

    Spaghetti follower wrists - I do wonder what feelings they betray?... If only Sigmund Freud were alive and dancing, he'd know.
