    Also, a really big thing I noticed in the other followers I was talking to, and myself sometimes, is about trying to anticipate what he wants to do before he actually does it and getting all into our heads about it. Even more, hyperanalysing "did I do that right, did I do it wrong, maybe I did it weirdly, etc", feeling very bad when we do a mistake and sort of getting stuck on it and not focusing on the rest of the dance:))
    All of this that I am saying here is mostly about having a hard time to actually release control and just be in the present, relax, follow and actually feel his movements:)) I was surprised to how many girls, especially beginners, feel this way and how it can very much impact the dance. Whereas if they would not get all these noisy thoughts, the body would just follow by itself and everything would go much smoother❤

      Absolutely, that's is a very good observation 👍 🤗

    Good advice Rasa! My #1 tip would be to connect and smile once in a while. It brings some ease and relaxation in the dance. It's so much easier leading somebody that is having fun and in connection. I feel my level goes up instantly. If a dance partner seems to be distracted, uninterested or not enjoying, it affects you immediately, resulting in overthinking/black out/distraction and poor leading. A smile brings ease and works both ways for the better. So I especially endorce your 4th tip.

      I completely agree with you, partner dance is suppose to be about connecting, so when there is no connection it feels like the dance is missing something 😊

    I love how you encourage everyone to be accountable for their own experiences-in both attitude and technique; this is one of the biggest obstacles when learning to dance.

      Absolutely, enough blaming each other and more focus on being better ourselves 👏👏👏

    Love this Rasa! I've come back to this video so many times! I would love to see a video that elaborates tip #4 - to be responsible for your own fun. I want some tips on how to do this! How to be playful with the leader when dancing :)

    Thank you so much. The last tip is what I'm doing now. I just moved to a new country and found only a beginners class, for now. But it's so much better for learning how to style and perfect my technique.

    I have one concern. Apologies if you already talked about that, I've watched a few videos and I didn't find anything related to this. And it is qhen the follower has long hair. Is it expected that I tide up my hair so that it doesn't smash the leaders face when I turn? Is it considered rude if that happens? Or is it acceptable in the dancing community? I always see in videos the ladies wearing theirs hair down even when they have long hair. Is this also normal in real life?

    • @DanceWithRasa
      @DanceWithRasa  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @noemiriveraperez it is very inconsiderate to have your hair slapping your partner or other people around you. In bachata its more forgiving. But in salsa with multiple turns it's just interrupting. And if you get sweaty it actually becomes a whip.
