This is his story as a child left alone most of the time. All he had is his music. This song represents a trip into near insanity and then conquering it. The wailing sounds are supposed to represent crying, even at the start. It is well played out and I think took a lot of courage.
Hua is first and foremost a showman. I would like to see you react to one of the few songs he did not write ... Dad I'm Home... At the end of this song the audience was silent for the longest time I have seen. Hua expertly brought out the feelings in the song so well, people wonder if he is singing about his own childhood. Because it is emotional, it takes some courage to react. It is a performance I will never forget. Then on a happier note, you will enjoy the duet: Nanping Evening Bells. His most versatile and my favorite is Numchucks. However Please, please react to DAD, I'M HOME first.

...man I admire Hua Chen Yu so much ( Hua Hua ^^)! Love his courage to be true to himself and his way of expressing himself when he sings! I read that he always has a message he wants to bring when he performaces! He is so versatile....and artistic in many of his performances! I recently saw Hua ChenYu on Come Sing With Me where he was presented with a challenge to see how long he could sing without taking a breath... 36 seconds. Crazy. This performance is just PURE ART. ❤❤

I feel like this song is one of the most accurate representations of Hua Chenyu's inner self. There's this clip of him speaking to a judge/mentor on a survival show years ago, where it was the first time he had encountered someone who could relate to his wailing-singing, and it left a really strong impression on me because of his look of awe upon meeting a kindred spirit. Hua Chenyu is not a theatrical performer; he is a genuine performer who immerses himself in the emotion of the song fully before he even goes onstage. After every performance, you can see him take some time to get out of that persona/emotion. This song isn't meant to be a song that's comfortable to listen to; it's meant to convey every inch of emotion that the lyrics try to express, and Hua Chenyu did exactly that. Listen to some of his other performances from this show - they're all amazing.
