I said it back when Divide came out in 2017 with both Galway Girl and Nancy Mulligan on it, and I'll say it again now that Subtract is out with this song on it: I would love it if Ed would someday do an entire album in the Irish Folk style. His voice is just so well suited to it, and every single time he does a song in that style, it gives me chills.
I just listened to Subtract on a four-hour drive home from the beach with my mom over the weekend. When we played this song, I was telling her that it would blend beautifully with Parting Glass. I started weeping. Ed is such a transcendental artist.
Sweet beautiful and a haunting melody of long ago 😢😢😢❤❤ lol v it aed thank you so much love your voice talent and gift from God and your hard work . I love it all thank you 😢😢❤❤❤❤
Great song, grew up in Breadalbane area and this just brings the smells of the landscape back to me. As kids, we'd joke about "getting high" meaning cycling up into the mountains to just be in the middle of nowhere, chewing the fat. Brings back those memories.
“The Hills of Aberfeldy” Ed singing while at King’s Theatre, always seems to put us into a trance. Not certain if I will be able to hear him live in a theatre, I hope it will be recorded just like this. Will you do that Ed ? ❤️
Thank you so much for the upload. I was there ! What an incredible and unforgettable night. I want to relive this concert every day. Not sure how I would ever get over it or want to. I held my daughter’s hands and cried through these two songs. So beautiful! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤️❤️❤️

Oh, leaves are covered in snow And the water's frozen Oh, I long for you to be the one that I'm holding And warm me down to my bones As you lay beside me, hold me close Oh, leaves are starting to fall And the sun grows cold And my heart might break from the weight of it all For all that I know You could be holding somebody else as close When I'm home, I'll hold you like I'm supposed to Yet I know that I have never told you Darling, we could fall in love 'neath the hills of Aberfeldy Oh, the ground is slowly melting And the sun beats strong And I feel like my feet may have wandered too long And I will remain here alone 'Cause I fear that you may have found someone When I'm home, I'll hold you like I'm supposed to Yet I know that I have never told you But, darling, we could fall in love 'neath the hills of Aberfeldy Darling, we could fall in love 'neath the hills of Aberfeldy Wherever I go, I will always find Another stranger to share in the weight of my crimes And I know you will never find Another heart that wants you more than mine

Yes please! I've been saying this for years.
I’m here for it 🎉
I’m fully here for it, when him and passenger sing together it’s something amazing. It suits their voices so well!
Oooo that would be soo lovely!! I’d buy it!
I would love it! But don’t wait too long cause I’m 81 years old.
I first heard Ed perform this song HILLS OF ABERFELDY back in 2012 , 11 years ago I have been waiting so long for him to put it on an album
Is it any different to the 2012 version?
@@keenanpaul8968 not really
This is, as my mother would say, enough to kill you...
Were did you see it? Is there a video from 2012?
@@Robin_0011 I used to have the video I will have to look for it. Ed said himself he wrote the song 11 or 12 years ago

If wild mountain thyme and parting glass had a baby I love it
Exactly that hahahahaha
I feel as though my soul has been transported back to a place it only knew in another life. Felt a beautiful indescribable ache that had me in tears.
I did not expect him to sing Parting Glass at the end... I'm crying...
❤😮🎉 I love this
I can just picture him singing this song at a hillside (with the backing), sounding an echo. Makes one tearful
My heart is leaking with nostalgia, THANK YOU

WOW, his voice is so perfect 💖💖💖💖💖💖
I’ve got goosebumps!!❤❤❤
Oh, leaves are covered in snow
And the water's frozen
Oh, I long for you to be the one that I'm holding
And warm me down to my bones
As you lay beside me, hold me close
Oh, leaves are starting to fall
And the sun grows cold
And my heart might break from the weight of it all
For all that I know
You could be holding somebody else as close
When I'm home, I'll hold you like I'm supposed to
Yet I know that I have never told you
Darling, we could fall in love 'neath the hills of Aberfeldy
Oh, the ground is slowly melting
And the sun beats strong
And I feel like my feet may have wandered too long
And I will remain here alone
'Cause I fear that you may have found someone
When I'm home, I'll hold you like I'm supposed to
Yet I know that I have never told you
But, darling, we could fall in love 'neath the hills of Aberfeldy
Darling, we could fall in love 'neath the hills of Aberfeldy
Wherever I go, I will always find
Another stranger to share in the weight of my crimes
And I know you will never find
Another heart that wants you more than mine
Incredible SONG!!!!!

I want Ed Sheeran to perform in Belgrade!

Really similar to his version of Wild Mountain Thyme
Exactly what I thought!
Yes i thought the same, it is the same beginning and i think it inspired him to create this song !
