    This is just my opinion, but there are a lot of coincidences that are connected to the hotel. The room cleaned & prepared to be rented out before any evidence or clues could be searched for. It was a potential crime scene & should of been processed as one. The security tapes were already taped over, the bartender calling in sick consecutively for 4 days after her disappearance, etc. I can't believe they would actually say in the local media that she was an adventure seeker & most likely responsible for her own disappearance. It's irresponsible & just down right cold for any media outlet to say that within an article under these circumstances.☘

      Tourist organizations and resorts, and colleges and universities for that matter, make attempts to cover up violence that is associated with them because it is bad for business. They depend on good publicity and return customers. If word got out their places were unsafe their business would fall off and cost them money.

      When this video calls Negril a "paradise", they neglect to mention all the poverty and crime on the island. Jamaica is only "paradise" for naive and gullible tourists. There are as many suspects in this case as there are desperately poor Jamaicans. Like in a dozen other murders that I've seen happen in tourist locations, the locals here did everything that they could to cover up the crime to protect the image and money making potential of the place. Putting the blame on the victim (or a travelling companion) as they did here is a common tactic in such cases so that the crime can be blamed on an outsider instead of "friendly" local person. ... jkulik919@gmail.com

      @@cadaverdog1424 The victim-blaming mentality can be incorporated into public policies, but it's most detrimental to blacks, not whites. In one of his speeches, Martin Luther King declared that blacks' love for our enemies should be primarily impersonal and "spiritual" in nature, as opposed to emotional or erotic. I'm a black female but my dad is white, and like most females I'm primarily attracted to guys like my dad. By the redneck standards of morality which Dr. King popularized, I have NO chance. Zip. This policy is inimical to my primal innocence, right off the bat. Things like this just don't happen in foreign countries.
      In 1980 I took a trip to Hawaii. After we got off the plane we were given an orientation. We were cautioned to be aware of our surroundings. We were told that the local criminals liked to prey upon tourists because if they were ever caught the chances of the tourist coming back all of the way to Hawaii to testify against them was very unlikely, and consequently they would get off.
      I lived in New Orleans for a while, and it was not uncommon for tourists visiting the French Quarters to get lost and wander into a rough part of town, where they would be attacked and robbed. The city did its best to cover it up or down play the crimes because it was bad for the city's tourist industry.

Why did the resort clear out her room? It seems very suspicious to me that they would develop the film on her camera. Why would the resort do that? That seems more like something the police would do. There is something really wrong with this story. Number one is that there was no open travel to Cuba in 2000. Then you say that she was on her way to Havana but landed in Montego Bay? This makes absolutely no sense because Jamaica is way south of Cuba.

      I wondered about that. In 1999 Clinton did relax some of the travel restrictions , but the whole Elián González nightmare was going on in 2000 and things were incredibly tense between the U.S. and Cuba. Something's not right.

    I went to this exact resort for my Honeymoon. Negril was stunning, but the bit about friendly locals at the beginning of your story is very inaccurate. It is strongly advised that tourists stay within gated resorts & only take guided tours with established companies for safety.
    At the very least you are constantly harrassed for handouts or to buy souvenirs or drugs. If you wander too far down the beach the surround you.

      Well said. Going to any 3rd world countries yes stay with the hotel and obey the tourist guide and don't wander far from the hotel you will NOT end up missing. I always see when people disappeared is because they venture out from there hotel or they're in a hotel alone. Don't do that or you will disappear without a trace just like these people. Claudia and her freelance writer friend had/ have my dream job.
    That being said, it wouldn't be as much fun for someone like me, because I'd end up staying in my hotel room and not mixing it up with locals at bars. Doing anything like that is just too risky, in my opinion, for unaccompanied females. It's unfortunate that the world works like this, but it does. It does, and we have to be aware and a bit paranoid at all times, always on guard, always a bit suspicious. We can meet people in our own back yards and be abducted. No place is safe. None. Never..
    Claudia and I were born in the same year. She'd be 48 today if she were still around.

  • @ASHl33164
    @ASHl33164 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I still think it was someone working at the hotel, whether it was Anthony or somebody else. They would have the ability to clean up Any crime scene and access to the room where the evidence was. Robbery obviously wasn’t the motive so that explains why nothing was taken from her room. That also could be why the security footage was recorded over and why they claimed there was nothing on the camera.

    Some people have ignorantly commented that Jamaica isn't safe to venture off of the crumby all inclusive resorts. I have been going there with my family for 30 years since I was an infant and we have never stayed at an all inclusive. You can get the same experience going to Mexico which is cheaper to get to. There are some amazing hotels on the Negril beach and up on the cliffs with great restaurants as well. Jamaica and specifically Negril has always been a safe and friendly place for tourists. Talk to any Jamaican and they will tell you it is a cultural sin to mess with tourists and it can very easily lead to them being ostracized by their own countrymen. That doesn't mean you walk up any dark alley some random stranger calls you up but people should use common sense anywhere in the world. It sounds like Claudia was murdered by this bartender and he disposed of her. Could possibly have been accidental from doing some harder drugs or something but sounds like the investigation was botched.
