Let's be honest, when I had the double notification a few minutes ago, I was way too enthusastic about a new bass war between you guys :) Very nice vids, the concept of guessing bass lines is fun
Both you and Davie504 Crack me up. I found your channel sometime before his and was entertained by both your talent and humor. So the two of you go well together playing off each another's comedic ways. Keep up the good work.
In a way, Davie actually inspired Charles to run his TH-cam channel. Charles was the "pro" in every davie504's fiver related videos (where Davie challenges random fiver bassists to make tough baselines), and he got the well deserved fame after Davie challenged him in a base battle. Good times.
I love how Davie looks at you at the end of the bass track and dares you to get it right. Classic intimidation tactics. Charles was up to the task. Well done. Charles should test Davie next.
As others have said, it's nice to see two talented artists challenging each other in an amusing way, and having fun with it. This is how it should be done - with humor, respect for other artists, and a love of the art itself... :) Approved! 👍
Challenge: come up with a baseline you like that, with the same fingering in a "radically different" alternate tuning, is still musically pleasing. "Radically different" means at least two used strings are retuned by a different number of half steps.
Posting my guesses in the comments that I came up with before Charles figures it out, just for fun (not a bass player, former tromboner though). 1. 7 Nation Army 2. Higher Ground, Red Hot Chili Peppers version 3. Hysteria by Muse 4. No clue 5. Smoke on the water? 6. No clue 7. Shake hands with beef by Primus? 8. no clue 9. no clue 10. Tell me baby by the chili peppers? (i definitely got this wrong) Well I definitely failed, but at least I got 2/10. Also guessed the right band for #2 but wrong song. Could be worse!
Got the first 2 and the 4th one, maybe one later as well but forgot, I definitely didn't realise for whom the bell tools was played that high up on the neck
Jamiroquai is great for funk bass players! A bit like the Chilis where the bass part is often a lot more than just supportive. I find stuff like Too Young To Die quite satisfying to play. 😎👌
I got the first couple, could almost hear a bunch of those in my head... never heard of Fat Larry or his band but with the sound it was almost exactly what I thought it would be like. Fun challenge!
Try the Good Bad and the ugly doing all parts on bass with 50 of you playing each part in the little windows. You are absolutely freaking amazing. Keep it up.
Lol the first 6 ones are propably also the first ones that any bassits wants to learn. The later 4 are usually the ones where beginners start to struggle and Nr. 11 is the one where they start questioning their life choices! XD
@Milea Who in the fk makes these bot messages. It literally doesn't make any sense in any way whatsoever, where is the incentive to click your link when you can't even type some sense.

You are all amazing and I appreciate your sharing your talents with us all... I truly enjoy taking a break from life.
As a keyboard player on the bass players stage side, I'm often watching his fret playing to check myself, especially when I'm first learning an arrangement. I don't even think the most impressive part of his playing is his technical skill, though he's certainly amongst the very best. For me, the part of his bass playing that is so hands down better than just about everyone else I've ever seen is his sense of melody. He does insane technical double tapping stuff, but it's the melodic and musical aspects that result from those skills that impresses me even more.
I'd have to disagree. While Charles is an excellent bass player he's more like the thunder in the sky that announces his presence, while Davie is more like the earthquake shaking the ground demanding it. It's the difference between a tapper and a slapper, they both rock
