FYI: That Bass Drum Beater is two-sided, felt and plastic. Felt beaters are NOT recommended for mesh drum heads as the felt can snag and eventually tear the mesh. Rotating the beater to use the plastic side will lengthen the life of the mesh head. Plastic or wood beaters are best with mesh-head electronic drums. With drumsticks, make sure you only use a dedicated set, not some that have already been used on an acoustic set, as those might have chips and dings in them from metal rim shots. Those chips and dings can also snag and tear the rubber and mesh parts of the electronic kit. Though undamaged wood-tipped drumsticks are okay, nylon-tipped are preferred.
This guy deserves to be paid by Roland and this video should be on their website! Got my kit a few months back and I would STILL be putting it together if not for this video. A+++ job sir! Keep up the good work. Thanks again
I watched this video a week ago, got my set yesterday and began assembling today. Thought I’d use the instruction booklet just in case he missed something. Got about 2 instructions in, bewildered by the tiny and grainy photos, and busted this video out. Soooo much easier. Thanks for the video. Btw, this kit sounds great!!!

Spin your bass beater around to where the plastic is hitting the base trigger instead of the felt. I read somewhere that the felt is bad for the mesh head.

I've always heard that, too. But after 5 years it hasn't made a difference on either kit I play on. Maybe there's more to it than the generic "felt" issue?

I got my kit setup in about 2.5 hours, the first 30 mins was using the paper version before I went to TH-cam. I only made one mistake and got the HH and HHC leads the wrong way around but after that I was drumming! It really is a great kit. I've only played acoustic kits before and I'm amazed at how good electronic kits are these days. Time to teach my kids to play. Thanks again.

Very good, step-by-step guide to setting up this kit. Don't know what I would have done without it, since the directions that came the kit were quite weak. Just one suggestion to clarify the set-up even further. In order to get my right leg to fit between the snare and third tom, I had to angle the kick drum slightly to right of center of the line of the posts of the frame. I previously had assumed the kick drum should be centered with the line of the posts of the frame, which caused the leg interference with the snare. The way I figured out that Nick had actually done this was by doing a freeze-frame of the set-up of the kick drum from behind the kit. I then spotted that had actually done this.
I got my kit last week and I didn't even bother with the instructions because this tutorial was spot on....thank you seems like such an inadequate thing to say in response...this video is an example of what makes TH-cam so great at times!
In case no one has mentioned it, your instructions also work very well for the KVX2. The only real difference is that Roland seems to be recommending the shorter crash on the right-inboard and the taller ride cymbal on the right-outboard side. Thank you for the valuable time-saving video!

Roland is great at everything EXCEPT manuals. Thank you so much. I was afraid I didn't have enough cables because the instructions for the cymbals said it had cables included with each which were not in the package. The snake cord had them all, and Roland did provide the one extra we need. Thanks so much for guiding us through the set up!!!

Thank you. This was a perfect setup video - right up to the hi hat part! I have the KV not KVX kit & one major difference is the hi hat - any easy tips to set that one up??
With the KV make sure you leave an extra clamp to the left of your crash cymbal. Use the shorter arm, and have it come inwards towards you, then flatten the ball joint. That will keep the arm out of the way of your leg. Place the foot pedal directly underneath, follow connect the HH cable to the cymbal, and the HHC to the pedal. Enjoy!

When I looked at these ones delivered with the kit I thought, this will be "fun". Well, I remembered your video, and thanks to it, it was easy to setup the drumkit. Thank you! I'm completely new to drumming, and found this very useful. I just picked this kit up, and even having watched this video in the past, I found the installation to be much more involved than I had anticipated. The instructions are a little confusing and basic. I came back and referenced the video to correct a few assembly mistakes. (For one, I had the floor tom mount rotated 180 degrees... as I sat there at the kit, wondering how on earth I'm supposed to hit something so low!)

This is VERY true....Rolands actual kick hammer is just solid plastic
But this model does not have the mesh head.

I've had it set up for over a week and realized I left the metal plate and felt pad on the HH stand. It plays better now. Thanks!
It might not help the top hat pad from spinning, but it does make the bottom trigger more accurate. Enjoy the kit!

Roland is great at everything EXCEPT manuals. Thank you so much. I was afraid I didn't have enough cables because the instructions for the cymbals said it had cables included with each which were not in the package. The snake cord had them all, and Roland did provide the one extra we need. Thanks so much for guiding us through the set up!!!

Thank you. This was a perfect setup video - right up to the hi hat part! I have the KV not KVX kit & one major difference is the hi hat - any easy tips to set that one up??
With the KV make sure you leave an extra clamp to the left of your crash cymbal. Use the shorter arm, and have it come inwards towards you, then flatten the ball joint. That will keep the arm out of the way of your leg.
Place the foot pedal directly underneath, follow connect the HH cable to the cymbal, and the HHC to the pedal.

When I looked at these ones delivered with the kit I thought, this will be "fun". Well, I remembered your video, and thanks to it, it was easy to setup the drumkit. Thank you! I'm completely new to drumming, and found this very useful. I just picked this kit up, and even having watched this video in the past, I found the installation to be much more involved than I had anticipated. The instructions are a little confusing and basic. I came back and referenced the video to correct a few assembly mistakes. (For one, I had the floor tom mount rotated 180 degrees... as I sat there at the kit, wondering how on earth I'm supposed to hit something so low!)
