      It beats Deanston Virgin Oak by a million miles. No comparison. Such a wonderful value for money whisky. ❤

    I still like the odd 40 ABV 10 to 12 year old drop like Glenfarclas 10, Cardhu 12, Glenrothes 12, Edradour 10 and Old Pulteney 12. Sometimes I just want something smooth and malty and butterscotch vanilla flavors, sometimes its nice to sit back and nose the simpler malts and just enjoy them knowing you didn't pay huge prices for an enjoyable experience. Nice shout out to Ken at Scotch Down Under he's a top bloke!! Cheers

    Erik, your way of talking is with passion...great! Tomorow i'll buy (34,99e) a bottle...and a tablet of dark chocolade

      I had my first glas of Aberfeldy 12. :) without chocolate... that's easy taste, less dependent on the mood you are in, all-round always tastes good. I also bought a Port Charlotte 10 for 52 euros (off the shelf without can/box), I'm going to try that tonight when I finish my job in the soundstudio.

    One of, if not THE, best value malts right now in the US. Better than others around this price IMO.

    There were three of us when we tried this. For comparison we used Glengrant 10. Everyone like the the Glengrant more. And it's cheaper than the Aberfeldy in my market.

    Not seen this on the shelves in the UK supermarkets ....I'll keep me peepers peeled .. sometimes you need to spend time with a dram..

    Nice review. I've only bought Aberfeldy 12 once or twice in my life, but despite its sweetness, I do recall liking it. There's a certain cookie or biscuitness about it, and I think it's a great gateway malt for someone who says that don't like Scotch.
    Also, with prices being what they are these days, and spite that it is very much handicapped by its presentation, it's a relative bargain ✌️

      The Deanston Virgin Oak and the Aberfeldy 12 seem to me like some of the best "value priced" single malts available.

      @@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies While I'm not a fan of Deanston Virgin Oak, I tend to agree. There's something about Virgin Oak and Scotch that I find off-putting these days.
      I'd also include the entire Glen Moray Elgin Classic range and Glen Moray 12, Scarabus, Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair, Glencadam 10, and Benromach 10, all which can still be had in 2023 for under $40.
      Also keep an eye out for some of the under $40 Mystery Malts from Total Wine and More, some are very good. They've got one French Oak finished one, and one Madeira finished one worth sampling IMO ✌️

      Sweet malty Cheerios is all I get from it and that's not a bad thing

    Have not had this one yet but it is $50 in my state and state next to me.

    Sounds like a nice mellow whisky that might have good use in priming the palate for higher proof ones, especially at that price point. Even Deanston 12 is going for about $60 in north Texas now.
    Will look for this at one of my local spots, but at least it wouldn't hurt too much to buy one for the shelf if I dont see it.

      @@ErikWaitWhiskyStudiesHope you can do a full review of Cragganmore 12 years old, it’s also a ‘classic malt’ at a similar price.

    Do think this is worth it at almost 50% more - $44? It's probably still worth trying, but it starts competing with some heavier duty and more complex whiskies that I could also pick up. I appreciate the review!

      The prices on Scotch whisky have skyrocketed. What constitutes "worth it" is somewhat subjective. It is very difficult to find a Scotch Single Malt under $50 these days.

      You can say that again! Safe to say this is just moving along with the rest of them, then. Thanks! @@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies

    Love the video, but the heavy metal music in the background sounded like hiss. I had to check my speakers twice before I realized it was music. IMO you don’t even need music, you’re information is more than enough.

      🎸 YOU CAN'T KILL ROCK N ROLL! 🎸 Music helps cover background noises. I have switched to lighter music for when I am talking.

    Tried it. Way too simple. Any experienced whisky drinker should stay far away from this. Edradour 10 also at 40% eats this for breakfast.

    • @ErikWaitWhiskyStudies
      @ErikWaitWhiskyStudies  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Edradour 10 is $60 in California. Aberfeldy 12 is $31. Any experienced whisky drinker would also do a price comparison.

    • @brunovmedeiros
      @brunovmedeiros ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies I agree, Aberfeldy is cheaper in Brazil too but IMHO it’s likely a experienced drinker won’t find much to appreciate on an Aberfeldy 12, but the Edradour will still be interesting (albeit a bit watery towards the end). But yes, it all depends on the budget. I think Aberfeldy is a good starting point for someone getting into Singlemalts.
