Hmmm, I am Spaniard and have lived and worked in 9 countries. Believe me, this cliché of Spaniards taking a siesta and having a laid back attitude to work is non-existent. People are over exploited at work, they all work far more than 40 hours a week and the overtime is never paid, but people can't afford to complain because if they lose their job, they may not find another ever again.
I would agree with you in that life in the US or the UK is hell, but Spain has also become a woke dystopian nightmare, with the aggravating factor that salaries in Spain are total rubbish.

When talking about Spain, it seems to be a paradise for lazy people. People work here. Don't think it's a walk in the park to have a country that can provide tourism services to over 82 million people (twice our population). Construction of cars, ships, wind energy, food industry and pharmaceutical products. One of the few countries with a private airline, etc.

Expat refers more to people that have more options but voluntarily choose specifically that destination.
An immigrant would be someone who doesn't have many options and is more likely to choose the only one that opens to them.

@@guillermorosalesgonzalez1308 I am a proud immigrant. And proud European as well. Nothing wrong with that. I never consider myself and "expat" but rather an emigrant, since I emigrated from the country where I was born and immigrated to US of A. That was the most consequential decision of my entire life, I think. Not saying good or bad. Just changed my life a lot as you can imagine and changed who I am and how I see the world.
