    A lot of painters are nervous about painting "live" like this-- Your fearless approach and willingness to share your thoughts as you paint makes this an excellent demonstration.

    It's so ironic that you uploaded this because just last night I was searching for videos on how to paint metallic objects but i had trouble finding them. Then I wake up to one of the most informative artists I always go to posting this

    It is so much fun to wTch you paint like a magician with your limited palet of black, white, red, blue and yellow - great inspiration and your process seems to be both analytical and intuitive - playfull and filled with joy

    OMG. So being an artist I always knew for the most part HOW to differentiate reflection in different textured surfaces visually, lol but you just me actually understand exactly WHY!! Which is not everyone can do; teach a 'creative' concept in a 'logical' way...to creative ppl lol, who (atleast for me) aren't always such 'logical' or 'left brained' thinkers ...let alone learners!! Joe, you are truly a modern genius! Not just that, but on a personal note, a blessing too. Bc after majoring in Fine Art, I became discouraged as to finding work, and apprenticing for scumbag men in the tattoo business, and struggling with depression, moods and all fun shit that comes along with being the "eccentric, artist" type, I guess I created a big blockage and no matter what, regardless of what friends, family or "fans of my work" would try, I came up with every excuse and did not pick up a brush/pencil in almost 13 years ...(prior to this past Xmas eve, when I found ur channel) ... wow, I cannot believe it's been that long, u prob think I'm nuts, lol this is so long but I'm just thinking +typing...Thank you. you've inspired me to paint with ur guidance, tips and your deeper knowledge of color, light, light color and how it differs from paint color (which BTW, do u think the color wheels are different from light and paint bc it's a matter of paint being 3 dimensional and light being "multi- dimensional" (for lack of a better term)?? Anyway, I'm sorry this post should of had chapters in it lol😜 but if I could I would buy all ur stuff and "donate" or gladly pay for ur teaching services more than asking price! Not only have I learned more from you in the past week of watching ur TH-cam channel than I have my whole highschool, college and 3 year apprenticing gig, but you and ur work actually inspired me to WANT TO PAINT again, and I DID!! I found cheap paint, a few old brushes, went in my basement and took over some old canvas, and cheap wall art, and painted until 6:30 Xmas day...ur like my Xmas miracle!! LMAO, Jk! Lol, but seriously ur an angel to me at such a dark, long, confusing , lost time and bc u do ur videos u reminded me of my one true calling in life. And gave me some guidance and support to work with while I'm rusty, and for the future to be better than I ever have. . Lol, now I need a job LMAO, but If i do get $, screw student loans, it's going to MuralJoe!🤗

    Joe what a pleasure it is to watch you paint as you explain why certain colours should be in certain places. I am learning so much from your teachings and for that I thank you immensely. Im an Aussie bloke who has been painting for some time but you can never stop learning. You wanted a wish list for your app? How about the ability to recognise perspective in any photo similar to the way current facial recognition works. As painting faces is my primary subject often I have to work from photographs, most of which do not offer receding lines of perspective and if I have to add a background it can often come down to trial and error. Don't know if it can be done but if it can I'm sure you can do it. Cheers mate and thanks again.

    • @muraljoe
      @muraljoe  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wow. Cool idea. Sounds hard to achieve for sure. So, do you mean that it would recognize the perspective that the photo was taken in? I'll have to think on that for a while.

    • @sebastiansanchez987
      @sebastiansanchez987 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the technology must be similar to what they use for mapping. Where they read the architecture of a building in order to project videos on to it, but the other way around. It probably exists, so putting it in to an app should be possible. Awesome videos Joe. You are amazing.

    thanks for sharing, one thing that I appreciate the most in your vids is, that you're not using terminology (doesn't matter if you are because you don't know it) , in a way you're always giving the definitions of them, and that helps a lot. could you please make a tutorial were there are two light sources? (moon and camp fire on a beach for example). keep doing what you do!!!

    That was awesome, ive been watching TH-cam videos on how to paint this or that. I loved how detailed you had described everything in this clip, I would have not even had the desire to do it cause , well for one, anything shiny always looks intimidating to do and how would i start? You make it look easy but i know for me it will be a challenge, but at least im inspired to try. Thank you soooo much for giving out this for free. I really do appreciate it, Schools so expensive but all your videos really help. Any information helps and inspires me to paint more. So again I really appreciate it. Thank you.

    That cedar plywood was a lot more absorbent in the beginning of your video than at the end, haha. You forgot the white spot in the reflections on the gold bulb from the chrome and red ones, but you were in a hurry. Love the way you think, thinkers tend to be tinkerers. Depth creates interest and thought. Love listening to how you explain things. DrQ'in

    You have 120 million (give or take) rods in your
    retina that register light and dark. You also have 7 million cones that
    register color (pretty much focused in the 'yellow spot' . That is
    indeed the limit to what we can see. That is why grass will turn a sea
    of green instead of individual blades. Simply put they outnumber our
    rods and cones at some point.

    Thanks for that Joe. Very informative. Many years ago, I drew a chrome coffee percolator in crayon as a school.homework exercise. Soon realised that it was a just bunch of squished & stretched reflections within the overall shape of the percolator. Drew all the reflections I could see then stood back and dammit I'd drawn a chrome coffee percolator!! Somehow I got away with my complete lack of understanding of the colour theory.
