- Lifting laminate floor problem. This video will show you how to fix a laminate, wood, or even vinyl floor that is lifting or buckling because its just to tight to the walls. All flooring should have at least 1/4" perimeter gap for expansion. If there's not at least 1/4" expansion and the floor is to tight to the wall the only way for floor to go is up. The floor we are fixing here was pressing against the walls so tight that it was lifting 6" off the ground. We relief cut the perimeter of the room where it was touching with our oscillating saw in order to get the floor to drop back down. I know oscillating are expensive so I put a link below where you can get over 20 blades for the price of 1 in the big box stores.
I see a lot of laminate floors like this that are install with little to no expansion and they all lift like this. That's why its so important to install your flooring properly. Always allow wood and laminate floors time to acclimate prior to installation as well if you want to avoid problems like this. Also make sure you install your flooring under constant AC and make sure its the same temp that the floor is always going to be in.
I have tons of videos on how to install all different styles of laminate and vinyl flooring if you really want to learn to install flooring properly.

Thanks for the video! It was exactly the solution to my problem. I especially appreciated it since other creators said nothing to do but pull the floor up and replace it. In the real world that isn’t always an option.
This tip was very helpful and alot easier than removing most of the floor to correct the buckling!
One more tip, before removing the trim, run a pencil line so you know how much not to take off. The last thing you want to do is remove too much flooring and now have a gap between the baseboard and flooring.
Good proactive measure. Thank you
Here's me just about to plug 1000 staples into my floor. This looks like a much better solution. Thanks.
Thank you! Short, simple and to the point. Exactly what I was looking for!
Straight to the point and explain WHY instead of just what. Thank you
This is so helpful I thought something went horribly wrong
Great video Thank you!
fixed my laminate job yesterday. lesson learned mucho gap
Thank you for the video
Thx for the info seems there is a different department I have to look into to solve my issue
Save the day. Thanks.
i had an area in my kitchen where a couple boards had lifted a little from getting wet I fixed it by running a small fan on it for a couple of nights and putting a little canvas bag half full of silica gel desiccant (for flowers.) laid across the area at the same time.
That's amazing! I git a quick question if you don't mind...my heringbone floor is flexing right in the middle, i have left 5-8mm on all the edges, and probably because the floor is not level...there is any way that i can fix that flex ???? Thank you!
I'm not a floor person at all but I created a problem with my 20 year old laminate floor. I had some work done on my funace. I needed to install about 2' of 1/4 round moundling that wasn't there before. I did a real good job with my brad gun and 2" staples as I stapled the moulding through the laminate floor to the sub floor. With in two months I had a creeky floor there AND the edges of 5 boards were starting to curl up. At this point it dawned on me as when this floor was installed it was explained to me it was a "floating" floor. Well I got back down there and pulled the moulding and brads out of the floor and the squeek immediately went away as your floor settled here. Now I'm hoping the curled up edges settle back down. It's improved a lot but I don't think the edges will ever go back to normal. BUT I wanted to make the point that what you are talking about in your video is EXTREMELY important and for anybody doing any moulding work don't nail it down so tight to the sub floor.
After u cut the floor and create the space - is it ok the put the baseboard back on? Just add no caulking?
Random question.
What's wrong with H jointing LVP? Aesthetically speaking I understand it's not a great look. But if a customer wants it, is there anything wrong with doing it that way?
I've heard random folks talk about it over the years, and nobody can give me a straight answer as to why.
Thank you. Was about to tear apart my floor
Same here. I will try this method, hope it resolves my floor buckling and it flattens.
Thank you for this video. I have a question and forgive me for being naive as I just bought my first home and I am discovering problems along the way. Does laminate flooring require the installation of lining? My laminate started lifting and as I took one piece out I discovered condensation. The foundation is slab and there was no lining. Thank you for your time.
Hi, is angle grinder with cutting blade able to this job
So my lvp is heaving up in certain spots but only at the very end was it not installed properly
I sent some screws down and fixed
I wish my maintenance would come fix my bubbling floor 😅
You really need to buy a toe kick saw brother. Multi tool just for edges, against wall.
Having a nightmare of a time pulling it up after the cut
Jammed under the drywall
either the floor is lifting or the camera is bouncing. Either way, I got a seizure.
What if the bump comes d pathetic other dirección
