Thanks for doing what you do! I'm riding here in Ecuador almost every day, and almost every day I risk my life doing so. It's so refreshing and inspiring to be reminded there are places that prioritize cycling.

This vid is such a nice xmas present! Haven’t been watching your channel actively for a while, as I’ve focused on other aspects of urban development as of late. So now that I re-visit and see there’s still significant progress being made, it warms my heart. THX!

Terrific! If the UK had even 20% of the commitment to cycling as the Netherlands we would be in a pretty decent place. As it is, our authorities think that cycling infrastructure involves painting a white line on the road 1 metre in from the curb and calling it a cycle lane. Cars rarely respect these 'lanes' so they are simply gestures. As you can tell I'm quite frustrated and very envious of how you guys do it. 😖😂
Have a good Xmas & New Year.
    Cheers👍🏼

I’ve been saying for years that the only way the UK will get good quality infrastructure will be if they hire Dutch experts to do it for us; because we have no one with imagination here. And Vilnius proves the point completely.

I am really proud of that we make this work in our country. For our foreign friends I would say that it isn't always that well planned as it looks. It took decades to get to this point, where many times the car was more important and other choices were made. Transformation of streets where cars are not allowed anymore is something of the past 5 years and it is just the beginning. Every small city has a mayor discussion about their old historic centres should be made free of cars, but the shops and enterpreneurs fear a loss of customers. But they start now to realize that a great shopping environment is greater value than when you can park your car just outside the shop. This will take another 10 years to get all the cars out of the city centers.

I enjoy your work and would love to see you visit Portland. We have pretty good infrastructure by American standards, but our bicycle ridership numbers are way down compared to 8-10 years ago. I’d be interested to hear your perspective of the city and built environment.

Where there is a will, there's a way for better biking infra

I sometimes wonder if some designers are making cycling infrastructure as ugly as possible, but I guess I'm just biased towards the bordeaux red of Dutch cycle lanes over lime green ones.
(I will add, like with brick walls versus plaster walls, red cycle paths hide dirt like soot much better than bright green ones)

The only worrying thing with cycling is these very fast electric bikes. Especially these kids or teens that are on these fatbikes create issues or elderly people without a helmet on electric bikes.

I have problems with fat-bikes only because the police doesn't realise they are NOT bicycles. And have an unbelievable speed of well over 50 kmp. Those stadswachten should check those every time they do their patrols in city centers.
