I love it. Even now, a good 12 or so years after I first saw this movie as a child, this song sends a shiver up my spine. And it's as catchy as a song can be.
I haven't seen Muppet's Treasure Island since we got rid of the VCR, about four years ago, and watching this well, the pure nostalgia could kill a man.
Best. Pirate. Song. Ever. This and "Cabin fever" make the movie just by themselves. I LOVE this song! Tremendous rhythm, great lyrics, mix of live and muppet voices works perfectly.
Growing up, this was one of my fave Muppet films, they did a good job of getting the story right, whilst giving it that brilliant Muppet feel. This song was a great starter as it really pulls you into the film and makes you want to watch more.
It seems like no one can do a straight adaptation of the old adventure tales any more. Compared to the recent versions of "Journey to the Center of the Earth," "The Mysterious Island," "Around the World in 80 Days" and "Gulliver's Travels" (yes, I know that the last one isn't Verne) I find myself feeling that this Muppet adaptation took the source material far more seriously than either of them. The *Muppet* adaptation!
You're 30 now. I'm here thinking how time flies. The themes of these films cut differently as adults, I have to say. They really make me melancholic. I wonder if you are still alive. It's so weird to see such an old comment, given all the purges of old videos and such.
Gives you shivers. I mean, a dark song like this followed by a whole mess of dead pirates. By this point, you know the movie's going to be good, even before you see it.
Thanks to the critic this song turns to another popular hight, many clicks and many fans. Count me as one of them, absolutely love this song, very epic build up, great melody lines, can´t get it out of my head.
I remember watching this movie in theatres when I was about 4. This remains the only Muppet-related thing that scared me a bit! Still, I really should watch the movie again. It's been way too long.
I wish they used this in POTC it would have been so great. I love the Muppets and this is my fave movie of them! Always has been always will be, i remember my brother having it on video an i'd want to see it everytime at christmas.
I don't care about the negative comments, this movie was a great movie and had great songs, and closely follows the book. Unlike the other more recent muppet movies
havent heard this song in such long time. used to watch it when i played the comp game when i was like 7 thx for the reminder. great song thx for posting it
One of my favorite songs in the movie and one of the darkest to boot. usually, when a kid's film is made they make it where they think the child is retarded and cna't handle any scary moments but yet depsite its more darker atmosphere than most Muppet flicks it's not seen as anything but a kid's movie. Now if all folks had this mindset...
I saw this one before nostalgia critic! :] its one of my favourit kids movies when i was a kid, i even now and when i was a kid liked this. Its just to awesome.
This is the best Muppet song with it's catchy music, great rhymes ("And those buccaneers drown they're sins in rum, the devil himself would have to call them scum.") , that sound more intimidating then the usaul muppet song but keeps it's charm by letting the back-up singers be animals. I won't say anymore, listen to it & be amazed to a song robbed of an oscar.
Captain Flint didn't murder the entire crew. He only killed those who had gone ashore and knew the location of the treasure. It was common practice in those times to leave a (no pun intended) skeleton crew on board to guard the ship. At least 3 survivors of Flint's crew are mentioned by name in Treasure Island: Black Dog, Blind Pew, and Long John Silver himself.
Another one from the Nostalgia Critic, though I've heard this before about 7 months ago, I'll be damned if I couldn't help but hear it again. Such a catchy tun with some nice visuals.
To say that this is a Muppet movie and therfore supposed to be a funnier take on the novel it's actually a pretty good version and has some great songs!
I was just watching this for the first time in years yesterday and today I watched Nostalgia Critic Top 11 Villain songs and he put this song on the list :D
These lyrics could easily be for a heavy metal song. Instead, Muppets.
Not complaining.
Dead men tell no tales - boom! - THAT is how a great movie starts. :)
i just love how the captain shoots the guys vurrowing the treasure at the words "Dead men tell no tales" Its fucking Proper Badass!
The opening to this movie did not need to go this hard, but it did. It did that for us.
I love it. Even now, a good 12 or so years after I first saw this movie as a child, this song sends a shiver up my spine. And it's as catchy as a song can be.
Muppet Treasure Island has got to be one of the best movies of all time.
"A five, six, seven, eight!" Best part of the movie. So cute.
Hell yeah, I could totally see Alestorm doing a cover of this song.
this was my favorite movie growing up! i'd walk around singing this song lol.
great memories

I LOVED this as a child - still gives me goosebumps to the present day and I'm 22 now!
I’m 38 and still love this song and movie.
I was just watching my DVD last night.
Not only the best muppet movie, but the best Treasure Island movie as well. So awesome!
Growing up, this was one of my fave Muppet films, they did a good job of getting the story right, whilst giving it that brilliant Muppet feel.
This song was a great starter as it really pulls you into the film and makes you want to watch more.
I love when the snakes and skulls sing. Now those are badass muppet choruses :D
And that is why Muppet Treasure Island is the best Muppet movie of all time. Next they should do something by Jules Verne.
+Ikrani Here hear :)

Holy shit that would be brilliant!
@@Yngvarfo a muppet version of the lidenbrock sea is awesome
@@Meshakhad Yeah- I would love to see a Muppet take on Around The World In 80 Days or 20, 000 Leagues Under The Sea.
This movie is a masterpiece - the story, the soundtrack and the cast :)
Man, I never even thought much of this song when I first saw this movie, but now, it's so epic. Especially now because of my fondness of pirates.
i love this movie! i'm 17 and i grew up with the muppets!
You're 30 now. I'm here thinking how time flies. The themes of these films cut differently as adults, I have to say. They really make me melancholic.
I wonder if you are still alive. It's so weird to see such an old comment, given all the purges of old videos and such.
Best part:
When there's money in the ground, there's murder in the air!
Murder in the air!
One more time now!
Found this on a tape yesterday when I was tidying and couldn't help myself but watch it after this song. It's an ace film.
It's a bad ass beginning to a great movie, with brilliant humor. I wish modern movies were more like this.
I completely agree! Wow I used to watch this all the time when I was kid.
I'm so glad I found other people who know this whole movie by heart... We quote it backstage. It's so fun.
Gives you shivers. I mean, a dark song like this followed by a whole mess of dead pirates. By this point, you know the movie's going to be good, even before you see it.
That part at the end it was probably the most hard-core thing to be associated with the Muppets
I haven't seen this in years - I loved this movie as a kid. This song was my favorite, my mom thought it was "too dark" for me. Old bat.
I love this song... In the past week we used this song in a musical. An damn i loved singing it!
Never to old for muppets! Best movie ever!
I grew up watching these movies, man. Classics. I still have this on vhs, when I have kids I'm gonna show it to them.
Watched this every day as a kid. Amazing even to this day.
I love at the end where the guy just shoots the guns. Best pirate song ever.
Thanks to the critic this song turns to another popular hight, many clicks and many fans. Count me as one of them, absolutely love this song, very epic build up, great melody lines, can´t get it out of my head.
Never watched the movie, but the lyrics of this song are so fitting to the theme it made me shiver.
One of the few things that actually, really gave me shivers as a kid every single time I watched it.
Gosh what a great score and great movie!
I'm actually impressed by how good it is. It's not really pulling any punches when it comes to describing the pirates,
Childhood right there. Sand this song for my music class as scared the crap out of my peers... best moment ever. Love it.
I've just bought this film on DVD for me and my housemates to watch when we go back to uni!
I absolutely LOVE this song and this movie!!!!!!!!!! LONG THE MUPPETS! This is a really good villian song, in my opinion
I love this movie, best adaptation of Treasure Island to film (bizarrely!)
This should have been the theme song of Assassin's Creed 4.
agreed
Or atleast a shanty the crew can sing to.
I loved watching this song over and over when I was four. It was so fun and had a.good tune
Man, I have this movie on VHS. I remember loving it. I should probably rewatch it some day.
i love it when the trees start singing :D my fav movie by far :D
this is my favorite opening to a Muppet movie ever
OMG!! Brings back so many childhood memories!! Like when i was 4-10! My moms fav movie too!
I didn’t notice the electric guitar in the music as a kid! I really enjoy hearing it in the song!
I remember watching this movie in theatres when I was about 4. This remains the only Muppet-related thing that scared me a bit!
Still, I really should watch the movie again. It's been way too long.
i loved this movie when i was little!!! and i still do!!! yay!
I remember this movie! I used to love it as a kid. Great opening too!
I loved this song ever since when the movie first came out. Nostalgia critic just made me remember it.
Thanks, AnderBros.
That was a lovely serenade. It got funnier when I pictured you guys singing along.
23 and still loving it!
I wish they used this in POTC it would have been so great. I love the Muppets and this is my fave movie of them! Always has been always will be, i remember my brother having it on video an i'd want to see it everytime at christmas.
I haven't heard this song in ages. It was my favourite when I was a kid.
This has to be one of the coolest pirate song ever.
I'm 18 and I still love this movie =w=
Oh my god! I loved this movie as a kid! Im 15. I would watch it if I had a VCR!
probably one of the best movies ever made.
as many great videos I see put to this song, I always feel credit has to go to making the Muppets even more awesome.
This could be just me, but I think they tried to make Captain Flint look as much like Jim Henson as possible. A great tribute, if that's true.
this song has been stuck in my head for five years
A FAMILY picture~ :P
This song brings alot of memories with my nephew.
Love the song, love the movie. ^_^ The Muppets are the best!
Awesome! :D I remember when I watched this for my birthday when I was really young : )
Stunning. I wish i'd known about this song sooner.
The definition of epic.
I don't care about the negative comments, this movie was a great movie and had great songs, and closely follows the book. Unlike the other more recent muppet movies

This was the last great Muppet movie. The PC game rocked too.
I saw this one before nostalgia critic! :] its one of my favourit kids movies when i was a kid, i even now and when i was a kid liked this. Its just to awesome.
I fell in love with pirates when this movie came out!
I love this song. It's my favorite in the whole movie
And then the Captain was murdered as he was out of shots.
This is the best Muppet song with it's catchy music, great rhymes

Normie: Pirates of the Carribbean is the best Pirate movie
Me: HULU WAKA, HULU WAKA, SOMETHING NOT RIGHT
MANY WICKED ICKY THINGS GONNA TONIGHT
2 kickass movies. Carol still makes me sad when Tiny Tim dies. (And I am a 22 y/o Marine)
I have an overwhelming urge to sit and watch this now! :)
The puppets are far too adorable for these gritty voices coming from them. My brain, it is confused. XD
i used to watch this movie in italy
A nice surprise to find it again!
Another one from the Nostalgia Critic, though I've heard this before about 7 months ago, I'll be damned if I couldn't help but hear it again. Such a catchy tun with some nice visuals.
@ToriActing the ironic thing is that this isn't the villain song. the villain song is "A Professional Pirate" which is also a kickass song.
Now this is a badass pirate song, I forgot what it was but Nostalgia Critic reminded me of this, thanks dude
To say that this is a Muppet movie and therfore supposed to be a funnier take on the novel it's actually a pretty good version and has some great songs!
gives me chills every time i watch it
"And then we both lose it around the statues." :D
Never have I ever thought a song in a puppet movie would be so F***ING EPIC!
Love this song. ^^
this was an awsome way to open the movie. it says "yeah, this is a Muppet movie but it's a bit darker than the others.
22! That's nothing - I was 40 this year and only just discovering the delights of pirate music, muppets or otherwise! Yarr!
I personally like the way Captain Flint dressed up for the opening
Jim Henson and company sure knew how to recycle muppets well.
This was after Jim Henson's death, and when Disney took the franchise
Have the Muppets ever been more badass? I don't think so.
Nostalgia Critc follower here. I agree; this is awesome!
I was just watching this for the first time in years yesterday and today I watched Nostalgia Critic Top 11 Villain songs and he put this song on the list :D
