Bob Nyswonger "Deposition" album is killer! Let's not forget The Graveblankets that have both Bob & Chris in it! So much great Raisins offshoot material!!
YES! Living in Cincinnati in the 80’s and 90’s I can tell you The Raisins, The Psychodots and the Bears were HUGE! Just a fantastic band. Creative, inventive and catchy songs. Rise And Shine is my favorite Bears album. Rob Fetters also has some incredible solo albums. His solo stuff is slightly less experimental, more straightforward pop/rock. Thanks for shining a light on these very deserving artists Steve. I have been spreading the gospel of The Raisins, Psychodots, Bears and solo Fetters for decades.
@@StephenSchnee That would be awesome. If I were still in Cincinnati I would have attended one of the shows. It was your channel that let me know the reunion was going on! And that Rob Fetters had a new album out (which I ordered)! Thanks for the heads up, Steve!
@@DCToonTime Do you watch his livestreams (called Fetters is Cheap)? Pretty incredible. He plays music from throughout his career. The vocals and guitar are live and everything else is pulled from the master tapes for the most part...
@@StephenSchnee Yes, after I watched your Bears video I started hunting around online and found his TH-cam show. Very entertaining and lively performances! There is another Cincinnati artist you might like. His name is Roger Klug. I call him the Todd Rundgren Of Cincinnati. Creates songs in a variety of styles. I’m sure there is plenty of his stuff on TH-cam as well. I know his first album “Mama, Mama, Ich bin in dem La La Land” is there.
This made my day! The Bears (and Raisons and Psycodots) are very hard to describe. They are witty and thoughtful at the same time and as musicians they are beyond compare. They have always reminded me of 10cc, especially the more rockin' and adventurous songs. You did a masterful job in giving them the attention they deserve. Rob posts free livestreams of him playing songs from all phases of his career. It's wildly fun, you should check it out! (I agree with your live aversion but his "concerts" are unbelievable!) Keep up the great work and thanks for highlighting another sadly unrecognized band!
Thank YOU! And yes, I love his livestreams (I have a link in the description box but forgot to mention in the video!). I wanted to share this with him and the band, but no way to do that. Besides, I am missing a few titles so maybe that will just frustrate them! :) anyway, thank you for watching and commenting!
I have had the pleasure of finding The Raisin Band in the late 1970's and was hooked. These guys are completely unique, original, talented musicians, and really nice humans!!! Thanks for bringing more exposure to their music! They certainly deserve it and have worked hard at their craft over the years. I see that someone mentioned the upcoming Raisin's reunion to you just before Thanksgiving. Seeing them live is even better imo!
Totally into The Bears. Didn't know about the PsychoDots or solo work by members post Bears. 😮 Now I've got more to dig into. 🤩. Thank you for the video. Totally agree with Car Caught Fire as a fav Bears record. The sound is so good on that record.
You just mentioned that you do not usually like live albums and that is the reason you did not get psychodots "Live at Ripley's" CD. Well, I was one of three friends (fans) who recorded that, and let me tell you...that is the best way to hear this band. Live is where this band shines along with "the raisins". Their 4 CD set "Everything and More", which was originally released on cassettes, are almost exclusively live. You need get that set. The raisins just did a reunion in March and sold out of those, but they are also playing in Cincinnati for 3 nights around Thanksgiving. I have an extra copy, so reply back to me and I'll send it to you. Thanks for the information on these bands. I always feel bad for anyone who never had the chance to see them live.
I believe IRS actually folded as they were touring Rise and Shine. There's an interview with the band for the third Bears album where Adrian is like "Rise and Shine has a little bit of a 'Well, what's happening? This isn't working out like we thought" vibe to it because they were fully intending to go big with self-titled. Kinda makes sense bc Rise and Shine has a little bit more of the cynicism you get from Fetters and some of Ade talking about relationship stuff
Me and all my college buddies went to see Adrian Belew in Portland OR in the mid 1980s but much to our chagrin, it was The Bears. They played only their unknown pop stuff and begged for a recording contract between each song. By the end we would have tossed several contracts on stage just to hear Big Electric Cat, Swingline, ANYTHING off Lone Rhino. They played BEC for their encore but we were all too pissed off and sick of their pop set. Years earlier I'd liked The Raisins Your song is Mine single off a local radio stations (WEBN) compilation, but its not Adrian.
Steve Ian Mcnabb taking orders for his new album Fleetwood Mcnabb! It's Fleetwood Mac covers done the Mcnabb way I don't know anymore details! You can Buy the CD or Vinyl 😂

Yeah, don't have Bob's CD (yet) nor the Graveblankets.... but I can't afford anything anymore....
Love these guys in all their groupings. If you haven't seen Rob Fetter's "Fetter's Is Cheap" live streams, check 'em out, free on his web site.
I think I eventually got caught up on all of Rob‘s performances. What a talent he is.

I wonder of Adrian Belew will be at the Raisins reunion show in March... and come out and do a Bears song or two?

I love when folks stumble across this video. These guys have a very dedicated fanbase... and deservedly so!
Thanks for this! I’ve been an obsessive fan of all these bands and musicians since the late 70s.
And I'm even missing a few things! Thank you for stopping by and watching!
Thanks Stephen. Only knew Adrian Belew. I have been listening to Rob Fetters and I like it.
LOVE the Rob Fetter solo stuff! And thanks for watching and commenting!
I knew very little about these guys. That is... until today!!! Good call.
Really great stuff, Obe. You need to spin the albums a few times before the hooks start digging in!
Really enjoyed this video!! I loved all the music I heard. Thanks for sharing! I'm glad I picked up The Bears album.
I’m glad you found one of their LPs in your local shop!
.....greatness! Adding some of this to my music library...
Great stuff, brother!

So much to discover. I hope you find something new to love with all those different projects.
Thanks for exposing our music to the world! I can hook you up with my solo disc and probably whatever else you lack -
Hey Bob! Such an honor to have you stop by and watch my nonsense! Would love to buy whatever I can from you!

Hi Mike. Yeah, I do want to hear the live stuff for sure. Overall, I'm not a big fan of live albums, but there most certainly are exceptions!
I own a copy of that multi-cassette Rasins recording. Leopards, Stella, Thugs, Dirt, Clive... really nice...
I've got that 4 CD Raisins comp... it's a must have!
I know. Maybe someday.
Hey Stephen, I loved The Bears but had no idea that they did so much. Take care....
It's crazy, isn't it? Lots of music to dive into!

Thank you for that info! I know people like to read comments on videos, so it's a great update to the story!

Very nice. Chris Arduser also made some great albums outside these bands. To me The Celebrity Motorcade is the best entire CD of all these.
Thanks Chuck. I'll have to check that out. I tried to get ahold of more titles but wasn't able to track down everything!
Belew is a national treasue
There's no denying that!
I'll tell you something Weezer must have been fans! I like the Bears stuff damm! £££😂

Yes! He's even released a few songs on Soundcloud. His version of "Big Love" is ace!!! Gotta pre-order taht one!
Yo Steve!!
