  • This is a review of the Kizer Gemini pocket knife designed by Ray Laconico. In this video I do size comparisons and also show some footage of me using the knife. I also go on a bit of a rant about blade lengths, which leads to a bit of a longer video. Sorry guys...

    Mine is perfectly centered… and it flips like something out of a dream! Both the Ti and the Cu versions are among my top few favorite knives. I will always carry one of these.

    I have one and the centering is perfect. I'm surprised you can't adjust it with the pivot screw.

    I didn’t know there was any hype about this knife. Mine lives up to the promise! Is it perfect? I don’t suppose so, but it is everything I need or want in a knife (besides a bunch of other knives). I have copper and titanium versions, and they are possibly my all-time favorites. I love their simplicity, and the way they feel in the hand. To me, they are just about perfect.

    I like the plainness! Laconico’s knives are like the essence of knife. They are everything a knife needs to be, and nothing more. The Gemini is no exception. I do BTW own a copper version, which is probably my favorite knife. I want a titanium version, or maybe an Ursa Minor (which is similar) to go with it.

    i have the cf-version and mine has perfect centering but the action took a little while to break in, it's great now though.
    love the simplistic and elegant design of this knife, definitely one of my favourite kizers👍

    Normally, the quality of this knife would be practically unsurpassed. This one seems to be slightly defective, in that the blade will not center properly. I wonder if swapping in new bearings would fix the problem?

    Option how to bend the clip. Unscrew the clip. Turn 180 degrees. Screwed back. Push on the clip, bend a little. Put it back.

      OttoVonChriek I did try that, but I didn’t push in it too hard. I don’t want to break it, and it doesn’t bug me that much. I might eventually try and get another one from kizer.

  • @yankee2yankee216

    You can take the clip off and bend it back, carefully, then reinstall it.

    Hey cat I’m really digging these hype vs reality reviews! Great job just alil small for me. Where are the Black Friday deals at?

      Jovonn Trujillo thanks a lot brother! I can understand that, and I lean towards the T1 for that very reason.
      Dude... there’s so many. I saw St. Nicks has the delica exclusive on sale and paired up with other Spydercos in bundles, knife center has a reate and kizer sale, and you know blade HQ’s going to bring it. Pick your poison:)

    Btw, you were joking when you said the clip is never gonna go back to where it was, right?
    You do know you can actually unscrew the clip, bend it back and screw it back on? 😂

    I have this same knife all you have to do it adjusts the pivot screw and you can watch the blade move over

    • @inthepocket7405
      @inthepocket7405  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zak Beaulieu oh, I tried that for sure bro.. I’ve taken this thing apart, and tried just about every trick in the book. It starts centered, and after like two flips it’s back where it wants to be. Thanks for the tip though

    • @zakbeaulieu906
      @zakbeaulieu906 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's kind of funny you would say that I tightened mine right up earlier this morning and checked it when I saw yours off and mine was off but I just tightened it back up and it was good again

    • @zakbeaulieu906
      @zakbeaulieu906 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope mine stays centered only had it about a month and I really like it but that centering thing sucks

    • @inthepocket7405
      @inthepocket7405  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zak Beaulieu you can tightening the pivot with the blade 90 degrees to the handle. Then see if it’s centered, and if it is, let the loktite sit over night to fully set. Make sure your using the 242 blue loktite too, it’s resistant to oils. That might keep the pivot tight. I tried that with mine, but nothing has worked. If I tighten the pivot down, it goes to that spot, it doesn’t center.

    The Chinese manufacturers, and the Americans as well SHOULD care to make their knives as legal as possible. Their bottom line may depend upon it. They would sell more knives if they made knives that were legal in more places. They can’t depend so much on “the criminal element,” i.e. on people willing to carry illegal knives!

    Do you prefer the T1 or the Gemini?

    • @inthepocket7405
      @inthepocket7405  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Harrison Pinkston that’s tough, but I think I prefer the t1. Although, the Gemini carries a bit better, so it really depends on what you’re looking for.

      Thanks, another question. What action do u think is better, because i have a zt 0450 and I love it and it’s action, so either of these compare to the 0450

  • @yankee2yankee216
    @yankee2yankee216 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Chinese DO give a shit! If they are into anything, it would be making money, and you are correct. If a manufacturer produces good knives that are also legal in more places, they will make more money.

    That’s why you don’t pick up knives on eBay!🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @inthepocket7405
      @inthepocket7405  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can definitely be dangerous, but I’ve sold many knives on eBay, and I am very honest and forthcoming in my description. The buyer gets exactly what they expected, it there’s always going to be the possibility, although eBay does stand behind it if it doesn’t match the description.

    • @phantomshtter

      @@inthepocket7405 EBay most certainly does not stand behind you, they stand behind whoever flows the most money through them. Be it the buyer or the seller. I had to have my financial institution actually seize funds back from PayPal when I didn't get what was promised before. I didn't even want a full refund, just partial being I was shorted on something. They found for the seller even after I provided numerous irrefutable screenshot pieces of evidence. F*CK EBAY & PAYPAL!

    Your rant about 3 inch blades is meaningless. Your reference to "Most places" is only valid to the USA. There are other countries, you know. Knife legislation differs a lot over the world. Kizer is an internationally oriented company that does not only sell knives in the USA. In most EU countries, for example, other restrictions might apply, that are not size-related.

    • @inthepocket7405
      @inthepocket7405  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      How is it meaningless if it applies to places, wherever they may be🤷🏽‍♂️ did you read this before you pressed send?

    • @sigriddewolf6322
      @sigriddewolf6322 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@inthepocket7405 What I meant is that it is impossible for a globally oriented brand to take into account very local size restrictions. Therefore it is not a very reasonable thing to complain about.

    • @jcolterh

      The one thing California does right is have zero blade length restrictions. Unless, of course, you live in Oakland County or one of the other more "urban" environments.

    What the h*ll does it matter if the blade is centered when closed? You're not using it when it's closed. It opens perfectly fine... so who the h*ll cares and why?
