Great vid Ben, loads of important information presented in a simple w manor. 2 questions. No 1 how do you combat the circadian rhym during winter. Now in the uk the sun is raising a bit earlier about 8 o’clock ish. But what about when it’s proper winter time November December Time and it’s pitch black in the morning? And no 2 do you have any more information about Melanotan 2. I saw on your notes it said “it’s illegal to buy in some places” but from what you said it boosts fertility
Even in the UK it's best to live in alignment with the daylight cycle. Ideally getting up around sunrise and going outside, and blocking blue and bright light after sunset. In winter, maximising darkness is very powerful. Melatonin (the darkness hormone) binds with the vitamin D receptor which is fascinating. We're meant to get lots of sun in summer, and lots of darkness and cold in winter. And I'm not gonna recommend melanotan, it can be dangerous and getting natural sunlight is better. You can find more info on twitter from accounts like @BioTiedUM and @AbudBakri
@ So in the winter can you still maintain an effective circadian rhythm if for example getting up at 7am every morning even if the sun not up or does your brain still recognise that as darkness/night time? The melatonin binding to the vitamin D is quite interesting. But does vitamin D still need the same effective concentration levels in winter as for the summer i.e through food or supplements . Or does the body through evolution normalise the lack of vitamin D that it is getting?
@BenWinney, please ensure to explore further as there is significant value to be gained from his teachings, and continue your excellent work to advance the frontier.
the system was developed through years of evolution where most of these things were already optimized. Humans used to be in the sun, active, social, competitive, sleep on time without artificial light, etc. It's only now that we have found ways to get around this that people are feeling the negative effects. Too much of anything is bad including testosterone so our body has to regulate it which is why even things like prolactin are very important for our body.
@jayn-j the sun isnt always around. Our bodies shouldnt regulate with it, this is something we, as humans, need to fix. I was a submariner, didnt have access to the sun for months. We send people into space, we willnt have access to it there either. And creating systems to artificially stimulate these systems in our body is a disadvantage. The systems, in our bodies, will need to be recreated/reengineered to better accommodate our needs.
@@tmadlegionsoul3255 I’m not sure you understand my point but our bodies have adapted to this through skin color. The evolution takes a long time and we have changed our habits as humans rapidly. As for the second part yes things like vitamin D supplements and red light therapy were developed for this reason. Also wow how was life as a submariner?
@@jayn-j Well, Im just pointing out that our bodies have adapted to a very specific set of conditions that isnt always true and that weakens us. As for being a submariner, it wasnt great, and for not the reasons most might think. Being underwater, being in a steel tube wasnt that bad. It was all the people you are down there with, the fact you are literally at work 24/7. I was unable to eat enough food to maintain my weight because they ration the food. In the artic it is ALWAYS cold, you are cold 24 hours a day for weeks, your bones get cold. I wouldnt go back unless there was a really good reason. I served 9 years, so more than the minimum, it opened a lot of opportunities for me.
Our hormone systems would mostly be fine if we still lived in our evolutionary environment, but we no longer do. We are inside much of the day, eating processed foods, inactive, etc. Evolution happens on a long timescale, and we haven't yet adapted properly to the modern environment, so our health suffers. In a few decades, genetic engineering and medicine should be advanced enough to solve this.
Hi I'm commenting here but on another video you talk about how tap water can be bad, but the things are especially in France glass bottle water are fucking expensive so the only thing i can do is buying a filter ? But isn't it also expensive ? Thanks
I ordered the Melanotan II nasal spray, it has 30 ..."puffs"?...so I'm undecided whether to inhale twice each 5 days or 1 each 3 days 🤔 (I mean especially for sunless tanning)
16:21 Cholesterol is noted in this production sequence. Is dietary cholesterol from saturated fat sources such as butter or egg yolks highly important or is it an overhyped belief? (as you didn't directly mention it at all)
Overhyped. What matter the most, is endogenous cholesterol, made by our liver. Dietetary cholesterol might be used for hormone production, if you eat alot saturated fats And/or if you are hyperresponder. Otherwise liver adjusts cholesterol production, meaning if you eat alot dietetary cholesterol, it will stop producing itself.
