    You are very clever and handy with your modifications, especially the fitted screen and "tent" for the patio area. Great job! Love your chill style and "just get it done" attitude.

      @@standardoverland , for the past 4 years we have been doing a lot of backpacking and truck camping using a tent. I started about a year ago looking to transition to a Trailer camper, with off road capabilities as I like to get off the beaten path. The NOBO is one of the ones I have been considering due to its versatility. I found your experiences you shared to very helpful.

    Lots of great ideas. You all and your dogs are great. We just took our very first off road trip at Tigerton OHV camping park and it was a blast. We slept in our very similar looking 4Runner and it was not a go at all. My wife is 5ft 2 so she was fine, but I'm a little over 6ft and with our Aussie-Dood is just wasn't great for us. We are looking at the NOBO10.6 which I think is the way to go and the Taxa Moth which my wife likes. The possibilities are much greater with the NOBO. Y'all take care, and also you have a beautiful yard/home too.

    I wish they'd make 1 like this without the rooftop tent and a tad taller so we could stand up in it

    • @standardoverland
      @standardoverland  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, if they made it taller and about a foot longer it would be perfect.

    • @standardoverland
      @standardoverland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the view! Yeah, that’s part of why we did it. People need to be informed of the problems and make a good decision for themselves. I wish we’d known some of these things before we bought ours too.

    • @732Runner
      @732Runner ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@standardoverland luckily it seems somewhat easily overcome, but if I bought it and the first water crossing it ripped the bottom off, I’d be furious lol I live in a flood prone area and on road “water crossings” would be fairly regular..

  • @grandpaissues4156

    The hitch extension on the back of your jeep is the problem with trailer clearance. The extension is changing the departure angle of the jeep which in turn is decreasing the approach angle of the trailer.

    • @standardoverland
      @standardoverland  ปีที่แล้ว

      While I don’t disagree, even without the hitch extension these trailers have terrible approach and departure angles. I understand the newest version of the NoBo has a bigger lift which certainly would help. We’ve contemplating lifting ours for this exact reason. And it’s a 4Runner, not a Jeep ;)

    • @HippieHoller

      @@standardoverlandNot the trailers fault. You created an issue and blame it on the manufacturers basic geometry. Not fair.

    We’ve used our NoBo 10.6 three times now. We have two large dogs who crowd us when sleeping so I want to make a heavy tarp dog patio like you did! How did you connect it at the top of the camper and which Rare Earth magnets did you use? I’ve watched your video over and over and am impressed by your creativity! 😮

    • @standardoverland
      @standardoverland  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WittyWhimsicals here are the magnets I used. I used a rivet gun to attach them to the tarp. On the NoBo, I used epoxy and glued thin steel strips of metal to the NoBo for the magnets to adhere to. It works really well!

    I have the 10.6. Curious about the stealth camping. Did you have to secure the bed somehow for travel days? I generally camp solo, but I like the idea of NO set up when I pull into the campsite.

    • @standardoverland
      @standardoverland  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That has been our goal since we bought it. We’ve been through several set ups and finally settled on the Disc-o Bed bunks. We now have zero set up for stealth camping. We just climb in and crash. All our stuff is in bins under the bunks. The generator stays next to the bunks and two pups sleep next to the bunks and two pups sleep on the bottom bunk with Perri. It’s right but works for a gas station or a wal mart parking lot. When we boom dock, we pull out the generator and either sleep in the RTT or just have more room in the NoBo.

    I just purchased an ibex 10 which is the same trailer as the no boundaries with the new beast mode off-road suspension how do you get your air conditioner and heating strip to work stealth camping off grid mine only works as far as I can tell when plugged into shore power?

    • @standardoverland
      @standardoverland  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ugh. That thing is so hard to figure out. I feel like every time we turn it on we have to fiddle with it like it was the first time. We turn it on and turn the temperature knob first then the fan knob and wait to see if it’s right. If it isn’t, we go the other direction. It’s a guessing game and I hate it. But once it’s on and set it is ice cold or super warm so at least it works. I wish I had better advice for you. If you figure it out for certain be sure to comment back.

    i looked into this , and all thought its cheaper than the intech toy hauler campers , 23k new is still a lot, do you recommend a certain model that sleeps 3 for 16k and under ?
    does this fit in garage?
    any regrets with this model , any upgrade coming up ?

    • @standardoverland
      @standardoverland  ปีที่แล้ว

      23k new is too much for the 10.6. Regrets? No. But would I buy it again? No. We are actively looking for a Sprinter van now and will be selling our 10.6. I love the versatility of it and especially love the RTT, but it’s small for two adults and four large dogs. I think if you can get one at a decent price and understand no RV is perfect, the 10.6 is a good little trailer. But you will have to make modifications and repairs. The Black Series trailers are outstanding but pricy. Im really eager for the Sprinter van- hopefully that will happen before the end of 2023!

    Why would you invest in a toy hauler if you are not going to haul any toys ? To me the value of a toy hauler is hauling a motorcycle or an ATV or other toys like a jet ski or powered kayaks. You would much mor comfortable in another camper if you don't need to haul toys. Also there is no such thing as "stealth camping" with a pull behind camper Stealth camping is camping in a van that looks like a van and nothing more, not a camper.

      I like the idea of utilizing a small toy hauler for this purpose. It makes it easier to load/ unload, clean, and store the other camping gear/essentials that stay outside during use. These items generally don't require a permanent/dedicated location within the camper. It also allows you to grow with your interest.

      It’s the weld yourself dual swing out bumper kit from Coastal Offroad. It doesn’t make any sound at all while driving. It’s really nice, but we wouldn’t do it again. That welding project was probably the hardest thing we’ve ever done for our vehicles. Thank goodness for grinders and flap wheels!
